The home was beautiful and spacious. Secluded which was great for our group. We loved the outdoor space. We had some trouble getting inside because we didn't have service and the door code was incorrect on the listing.
Minimally tucked away - far enough from others almost a “jungle” like feeling but five min by road to anywhere. Loved this place will ask to come back next visit to Barbados!

Liked: Cleanliness, communication, location
Our overall experience was great—we absolutely loved the property! It was very clean and well-maintained, and the property manager was responsive and helpful. The only minor downside was that the pool was a bit too deep for our liking. Other than that, everything was fantastic!
Wonderful colonial style elegant spacious home. It is beautifully appointed and equipped for comfort and relaxation. The verandas and verdant garden space were well maintained providing peaceful retreat away from the busy coast. The pool was refreshing. We loved spotting monkeys and tree frogs in the garden and chilling in the hammocks enjoying the stunning views.
Our group of seven (ages 21-58) had a fantastic week at this beautiful property. We were fortunate to have no one staying in the other home so we had the pool and grounds to ourselves. That said, we don’t feel anyone should be deterred from the shared property as the houses are decently far apart. Renting both houses would be wonderful for large groups. The house is very comfortable and allows for groups to spend time together or spread out. The covered porch off the living room is particularly nice and allows shade and views to the ocean. Grounds were very nicely landscaped and peaceful. The pool was great for swimming and lounging. We even saw a green monkey one afternoon (about 50 feet from the porch). Kitchen was well stocked for cooking. We made breakfast and lunch most days and two dinners. Haywood’s beach is a 10 minute drive and definitely worth a visit. Hayman’s market is fun for small shops and takeaway food (good coffee shop). Only glitch was our check-in which unfortunately had the wrong code and local contact number provided so we had to wait about an hour before we could get let in by the caretaker. Everything else was fantastic. Would rent this house again in a heartbeat.

Amazing
It's hard to describe ... but the house and setting are truly amazing. The house is well designed -- a sense of openness when inside -- great common space both inside and outside -- and -- quiet bedrooms; nice baths. The VRBO pictures don't lie. Ancient Grove also is well situated -- close to Speightstown and Holetown. Natalie and Patrick were very helpful in getting us oriented to the house and general directions. And, we had Richard White cook two meals -- first night and last -- each was terrific as is he. We were a group of 7 and each of us felt the same about our experience. Our only regret is that we wished we had more time in Barbados! We would not hesitate to recommend this home to other travelers seeking a quiet, beautiful spot close to lots of activity.

Tropical paradise.
Beautiful villa set in beautiful surroundings. Was ideal for our group of adults. The rooms were cooled by the trade winds so no need for air conditioning at all. Most of the rooms were light and airy.
One of the downstairs bedrooms was a little disappointing compared to the other bedrooms. Also, the grounds are definitely not child friendly. There are 2 villas on the grounds so the pool is shared. Felt there ought to have been more loungers even though there are other places to sit such as the hammocks and the swinging chairs in the trees.
Would definitely stay here again and again.

Spacious villa, but not a tranquil location and has issues
We stayed in Villa 2 (there are two large detached villas on this wooded site). Both villas offer a good degree of privacy, are spacious, and tastefully furnished inside. The beds were comfortable. However, unfortunately that's where the positives end. There were some major drawbacks which were not immediately apparent until we spent a night there. Extremely noisy skip trucks and cars frequently beep very loudly as they pass by on the road - in close proximity to both these villas. Our neighbours in Villa 1 expressed similar dissatisfaction about this. Dogs also barking for long periods every night nearby - so bring ear muffs!
Security on the villa doors needs urgent attention as most shutter pins were missing and some exterior door handles were broken. We had to makeshift ways to close all the shutters at night to feel secure, and to prevent cool winds and bright garden lighting keeping us awake at night.
Only 2 sun loungers by the pool to share between 2 family-sized villas! and no relaxation chairs exist in the communal gazebo (therefore this is misrepresented on HomeAway photos). No comfortable lie-back chairs on Villa 2 veranda - a point I raised with the owner but she did not seem to comprehend my point. Villa 1 outdoor chairs are different and comfortable.
A small but irritating fact - you have to pay extra to watch the TV here!
Finally, rodent traps right beside the bed in Villa 2 were not the most welcome sight!
So overall, unfortunately this villa was a disappointment for us compared to other properties we have stayed in on the island.

Lush tropical luxury
The villa was perfect for our needs, tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. For us, the best part was the outdoor space, where we spent most of our time. The beds were comfortable, with extra pillows and blankets if we needed. There were large wardrobes in the bedrooms with plenty of hangers and storage. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and even toilet paper, dishwasher tabs and cleaning products were included.
We were extremely well looked after by the Villa Manager met who met us on arrival and when departing. Natalie was at the end of the phone at any time should we need her.
We would not hesitate in recommending this holiday property to anyone. It is extremely well managed, and represents excellent value for money.

We really enjoyed staying here. The location is excellent and very private, with the house overlooking a green treed vally (fantastic views down to the coast!). Would definetly recommended hiring a car for the stay though, as it is remote.
The house itself is bright, spacious and airy. With a big communal living room and outdoor seating. The pool is shared with the other house, also owned by Brian, but the houses are quite private from eachother.
All in all it was a great, relaxing holiday and would 100% recommend, especially for the great views and remote location.

Nestled on top of a gulley, 2 beautifull extremely well kept villas with an inground pool, 5 minutes away from Speightstown, and from there a whole bunch of beaches to choose from.
Super clean, tv, wifi, functional kitchen, BBQ area, 3 bedrooms with own private bathrooms, including an outside shower!!! great back deck for the early risers, just a superb place to spend time and relax.

This place was fabulous.
This place was fabulous. It takes some time to get there from the airport, but it is so worth it.Those who are looking for a place to relax and to enjoy peacefulness will definitely love this cozy place
The house is wonderful! When we first arrived at the apartment we had beers and juice boxes already waiting in the fridge in the very-well equipped kitchen, which included essentials like olive oil, salt, pepper, pots and pans, plates, cups, cutlery and even a cheese grater. We were quite happy and comfortable with the accommodation and how everything worked. Fresh towels and sheets awaited us on the second floor landing, which features a very clean bathroom and bedroom that had lovely views . The neighbourhood was safe, the locals were helpful and kind, and we had so much privacy - we truly felt at home.. We had such a wonderful stay that we honestly cannot wait for our next visit! A huge thank you to Brian for an unforgettable experience.

Paradise in Barbados
Brian's home in the hills of Barbados is gorgeous, private and so relaxing. We are a family with 3 children (ages 3 to 11) who travelled with 2 other adults and we still had an extra room to spare. The property was well-maintained throughout our 10-day stay and offered a gorgeous pool that we used daily for morning and early evening dips, as well as a lovely backyard lounge area. We explored many different beaches throughout our stay ranging from a 10-min to a 30-min drive away. The kids enjoyed hunting for the frogs, toads and lizards that could be found on the property, and we saw monkeys in the yard as well. Close to both east and west coast beaches. Near Speightstown which we loved because there were plenty of amenities without being touristy. Local Bajans were lovely. We were worried that there was no air conditioning - but none was needed with a lovely evening breeze and great ceiling fans. A beautiful vacation property. Thank you, Brian (and Rachael)! We will definitely be back.
