Our “Freshwater Flat” offers a cozy, private, 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment located in the heart of beautiful Downtown Douglas, Michigan. Just steps away from the water and downtown shops/restaurants, your private entry, upper-level apartment has all the charm that comes with a 1940’s historic space with the amenities of a recently updated, well maintained flat. Private parking is available and the space comfortably sleeps 2 with a Queen Bed
The space
Getaway and enjoy one of America's Best Small Towns! Perfect for an individual, couple, or small group of friends to unplug and enjoy the galleries, shops, great eats, and beaches in Saugatuck/Douglas.

The living room has a nook with table that can be used for a workspace or playing games. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, oven with electric stove top, microwave, and Keurig. Full size shower tucked in the slant of the roof comes with detachable handle for taller guests to shower comfortably.

The apartment is located above Borrowed Time where guests can enjoy live entertainment on the summer weekends, grab a delicious bite, and indulge in their unique wines, craft beers, and exciting cocktails. If you prefer to grab to-go wine or create your own cider/beer six pack you can stop by their retail shop also conveniently downstairs!

The property looks exactly like the photos. A great location and super easy to get around from there. The host was also very easy to communicate with. Even though it’s on top of a restaurant we were never disturbed.

Nice weekend getaway in Douglas!

The Freshwater Flat is perfectly located in Downtown Douglas. Super close to the Kalamazoo River. My partner and I enjoyed the proximity to shops, restaurants, fishing and Saugatuck. The flat is perfect for a couple. I would highly recommend this property for a West Michigan getaway!

The property was mostly what we expected except for the parking and the air conditioning. We had to park in the back of the building near an alley way where a few other people parked near their homes. When we arrived, I did not even need to use the code to enter because the door was unlocked. We did not feel safe entering and I immediately let the owner know. We didn’t know if someone was in there, if anything was missing, etc. and we did not want to be responsible. It didn’t seem like it really mattered to the owner and he did not even apologize. The portable air conditioners in the unit were also loud. Other than that, our stay was fine.
