Lusch Acres Retreat ...Unwind & Enjoy a Relaxing Vacation
Lusch Acres Retreat
This 2-story vacation home in the beautiful Endless Mts. is centrally located just 4 miles south of Dushore on what is known locally as 'Ringer Hill'. Part of the original 1850 homestead of Julius Lusch, this cozy home is privately situated on 6 acres and within a short drive of Worlds End State Park, Eagles Mere, the Loyalsock Trail (hiking to the Haystacks) and Ricketts Glen State Park. The area boasts great fishing in the big and little Loyalsock Creeks as well as some picturesque swimming holes in the big Loyalsock, countless hiking trails and just the simple beauty of nature which surrounds you wherever you go. This is truly a getaway meant for relaxing!
In the home you will find 3 bedrooms (1 queen, 1 full, 2 twins) and 2 baths which allow plenty of room to accommodate 6 guests with all linens provided. (One bedrm & bath on first floor). The open floor plan of the living room & dining room features the warmth and ambience of a beautiful cast iron gas stove with 3-sided fire view, while the flat screen tv with satellite service & DVD player in the living room provides evening entertainment. The fully equipped kitchen offers a gas range, dishwasher, full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker. We provide a comprehensive selection of cooking spices & coffee for your stay. We also start you off with minimal complimentary paper products (napkins, paper towels & toilet paper) but recommend that you buy/bring extra for your stay at the Retreat. The entry mud room is large enough to store boots, coats and sporting equipment and has a washer & dryer for added convenience. There is also a sunny three-season room with comfortable seating as well as a table & chairs for games or meals. Relax on the decks at both the front and the back of the house or around the firepit in the spacious back yard. SMOKING AND PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Anyone disregarding these rules will be asked to leave AND will be charged a $200 cleaning fee. We ask that guests be courteous to the home owners and to other guests by abiding by these rules. We work hard to provide a comfortable, clean home for our guests to enjoy and ask that they, in return, be respectful of the property. Minimum age for all renters is 21 unless accompanied by a parent, and ID's are checked by the property owners. Check-in is after 4pm and Check-out is promptly at 11 a.m. In preparation of cleaning the house and getting it ready for the next guests, we have a checklist of minimal things to do before you leave (such as washing dishes, removing sheets from beds, etc.). Our cleaning fee assumes that these things will be done, but any renters who do not want to do them have the option of paying a higher cleaning fee.

About the host
Hosted by John & Kay Krakoski

Hi I'm John and this is my family; my wife Kay, daughters Jessica, Sarah and son John Michael. Kay and I both grew up in beautiful Sullivan County, left here in 1974 to go to college, and then married and lived across the country as I was working for IBM. We moved back here in 2008, retired in 2011 and now enjoy living once again in the area that we love!
Why they chose this property
The land this house was built on was part of the original family farm that my mother's ancestors from Germany homesteaded in 1850. Prior to this cute cottage stood a 2 story chicken coop where they raised chickens. When I was a young boy, the chickens were gone but I had lots of fun playing in the 'Coop'. My father passed away in 1975 and my mother was fortunate enough to finish raising the younger children in our family home until 1980, when she sold the entire farm. It changed hands twice before my wife and I were blessed to be able to buy most of the homestead back.
This piece of property was part of a 10 acre parcel that was sold and then sub-divided and 2 new homes built. This one we call 'The Retreat', the other and much larger one is called 'The Lodge'.
My wife and I re-built the old Homestead across the road. That is where my ancestors built the original 'Homestead' and that is where Mom and then my 6 brothers and sister and I grew up. When we moved back in 2008 we originally were going to renovate the Homestead but instead tore it down and rebuilt in it's similar footprint.(Of course we've added some nice amenities) but it really does remind everyone of the 'Grand Old Lady' that it used to be.

What makes this property unique
As a vacation rental all of our guests have been quite pleased with the accommodations of the Retreat. They remark on the comfort of the home, the peaceful, quiet location, and the beauty of the woods that surround the house as well as it's central location to most activities within the county. You can get away from it all AND still have the convenience of being only 4 miles from Dushore (with grocery stores, a pharmacy and restaurants)!
The county is perfect for relaxing and connecting with nature right in your backyard or deck, to go exploring the many state parks and trails, fabulous scenic vista views, or swimming in the spring fed lakes and streams. More recently we have had some local wineries as well as a micro-brewery pop up and they are fun to go visit.
Also, since this is part of our homestead you have access to 200 acres for exploring the woods and fields right out your back door.
