This property was the perfect location for us. Just a few minutes to walk to the beach. Great view of the ocean. We loved chilling on the deck and reading between our planned activities. The house was clean and well-decorated and had what we needed in the bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen. Appreciated the golf cart, which made it easy to get around the island. Holly was great at communicating quickly with us. Would definitely stay here again.

My mom and I booked the Mermaid Villa for a last minute trip to Bald Head Island and absolutely LOVED it! It's a short distance from the marina, and the tram got us to and from the ferry quickly. The view of the ocean from our villa was lovely! We enjoyed drinking our coffee in the mornings with an ocean view. The beds were comfortable (huge plus while traveling), and the villa was beautifully and thoughtfully decorated! We mostly stayed downstairs, but the upstairs loft was pretty cool, too! We enjoyed having a 6 seater golf cart. It made carrying groceries from the market and beach chairs super easy. We've stayed at multiple places on BHI, and would happily rent the Mermaid Villa again! The sky was so clear and full of stars the first night we could actually see the Milky Way with our naked eye. The beauty of this island is insane. It is truly a magical place! Some highlights from this trip include: seeing the birds at the Wildlife Overlook, having the beach virtually to ourselves at access 13 & 17, watching the sun set over the ocean (pretty cool to see on the East coast!) with a pizza from the Wisp, having delicious Mexican food at Cozumel and driving the golf cart all around the island. Oh, and seeing the custom engraved brick we had previously purchased at Old Baldy Lighthouse. That was pretty fun! Thank you Holly for providing the best space for two ladies to relax. We can't wait to visit again!

Amazing stay at The Mermaid Villa!

The house is beautifully decorated and in the perfect location on the island. It's a quick walk to the BHI Club and a public beach access, near the Marina, Old Baldy and Shopping, and the 6 person golf cart made getting around the island a breeze. We loved the deck and wildlife watching and saw tons of turtles, fish, deer and even a few alligators! Communication with the owner was fantastic and checkin and checkout were a breeze. The bluetooth sound system and chargers in each room were awesome too! We will definitely be back!

The villa was just OK. The doors do not lock and after talking to the owner, it seemed that someone was using it before we got there. Our floors and bathrooms were dirty.

Meri, While I appreciate you taking the time to write a review. In the future when submitting, it is best practice for it to be an accurate depiction. Upon your arrival, you e mailed indicating you found hair on the floor in the bathroom ( behind the toilet ) overlooked by the cleaners. I called to inquire immediately. Every effort was made to have cleaners return to re-clean and I verified their response to you via text message. Unfortunately, it was Memorial Day weekend and they were unable to come as they were completely booked. You failed to mention in your review that I DID REFUND your cleaning fee,. to which you seemed pleased. I offered, and two attempts were made to send someone by twice to inspect the bathrooms. and you declined saying it was “ fine and really not that bad “. The next morning you sent a text picture stating the kitchen sink was clogged. In reality, you had the stopper in the sink and it was NOT clogged as the plumbing is new. You mention the door would not lock. It does in fact lock very simply by pulling up the handle and turning the deadbolt key. You did not ask or inquire about this as it would have been appropriate to ask via text as you did with other supposed issues you had. There seems to be a pattern emerging here. I left you a favorable rating out of good will and I was grateful there was no physical damage to the property. You had no previous ratings from VRBO. In hindsight, as they say, it’s 20/20.

The property was nice with great views of the ocean. We are an elderly couple and a bit disappointed that there was only one chair in the den since we do not sit well on soft sofas. That would not matter to most people. Interesting decor.

The property was very nice, well equipped and clean with a lovely view of the ocean. Traveling around the island to the shops and restaurants was very easy with the golf cart that was provided by the host. We enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend this property.

The Mermaid villa is walking distance for a coffee at Sandpiper, lighthouse, chapelAnd BHI club. The unit is well stocked down to the Texas Pete. The details make this place feel like home! The host immediately responds is super friendly and accommodating! The Island overall is incredible! Be aware of scheduling ferry/tram/ and any club reservations ahead of time. Our favorite restaurants were Cozumel and Jailhouse provisions. Such a fun place! Golf cart exploring, with so many trails and things to see. Of course the beach was expansive and uncrowded steps away from the villa. We will be back!
