About this property

Thistledown Farm's Udder Heaven

Thistledown Farm's Udder Heaven occupies the entire ground floor of a repurposed 1800's barn. Post and beam throughout, with barn board floors & walls, it is tastefully appointed with period antiques. The open plan design incorporates the living, dining, and kitchen areas. A parlor-style wood stove, french doors, and old store counter kitchen center island help set the scene. The front doors open to a large private terrace and garden. There are 2 bedrooms, a full bath, and a laundry room.
The space
The artfully designed stone terrace has a gas grill, a terrific fire pit, and plenty of outdoor seating to eat drink, and be merry.

Guests can also enjoy lawn games such as croquet, Bocce, and horseshoes on the expansive front lawn.

If your preferred dates are booked, take a look at our 5 other listings on this property: Thistledown Farm's Pennysworth, Thistledown Farm's Sheep Shed Penny's Perch, a private yurt, and 2 large safari-style "Glamping" tents; The Pemaquid and The Penobscot.
Guest access
The entire space is on one floor and has its own private entrance with parking close to the front door. The stone terrace, grill and firepit are for Udder Heaven guests only.

Thistledown Farm has an expansive lawn available to all guests, complete with lawn games such as croquet, bocce, horseshoes, frisbee, and more.

Kayaks are available for rent.
Other things to note
Well Behaved dogs are welcome! On this note, please anticipate the presence of guest dogs on Thistledown Farm.

If you are looking for a fun activity to do right here on Thistledown Farm, you can learn to weave your own colorful lobster rope doormat. Our Farm was previously used as the location of The Maine Float Rope Co., home of the popular Down East Doormats. A cottage industry, The Maine Float Rope Co. made mats and rugs woven out of reclaimed lobster trap rope. Now, with a former weaver on Thistledown Farm's staff, lessons can be arranged to learn how to make your own mat. There is a fee and we ask for advance notice of your interest.

Our little peninsula has a wonderful freshwater swimming hole, saltwater boat launch, beautiful vistas, and 2 public walking preserves. Town and Route 1 are only 5 minutes away with galleries, restaurants, farm stands, a pharmacy and a grocery store. Thistledown Fram is located minutes away and a short drive from Damariscotta, Camden, Rockland, Pemaquid Beach, Round Pond, Fort Henry, Pemaquid Lighthouse, and the ferry to Monhegan Island. We are on the way to Acadia, Downeast Maine, Moosehead Lake, and Mt. Katahdin. The airport and the city of Portland is a 1 hour and 15-minute drive.

Please note that the only fire allowed throughout the property is in the firepit or cooking grill.

After each guest checks out, we spend a considerable amount of time cleaning to ensure that Udder Heaven is spotless for your arrival. All towels and bedding are sent out to a commercial laundry with specially equipped UV light anti-virus equipment. Please sweep up after yourself, remove all garbage, strip the beds of bedding, and place all sheets and towels in the hamper provided. We very much care about the health and comfort of all our guests and hope you will too.

NOTE: There is a 50$ charge for every extra person after 2.
