Wonderful

We spent a wonderful week here with our three small children and couldn’t have been happier. The house is spacious, beautifully furnished, and very well equipped – we had everything we needed. The pool was clean, pleasantly warm, and completely private, with no view from neighbors. The beach is just a short walk away, and communication with the host was always quick, easy, and super friendly.

A family affair

Nine of us spent a week at La Tranche sur Mer, ages from 7 to 78. Pool used every day, bikes very useful for trips to beach or local town. Some felt the beds too hard, others had no complaints. Well equipped and clean.

A magnificent property and location for a large group of family and friends

Our group consisted of 11: 4 fifty somethings and 7 children aged between 23 and 18. The bedrooms, pool, lounge and kitchen area are superb for a group of this size. The facility is well located and within walking distance of the beach, local coffee bars and boulangerie and at a stretch Trance-Sur-Mare, although this is more easily reached on a bike or within a 5 minute drive. A large Super U is 5 mins away for heavy duty shopping and has excellent tech and pharmacy facilities. We were able to cook and feed 11 people comfortably indoors and outdoors. Our feedback to the owner has only been positive with two requests for improvements: To provide a duplicate set of utensils so to make vegetarian and non vegetarian cooking a little easier and to provide a floodlight for the outside seating so to make evening dining a little easier. Other than that it is a superb property to which we will return.

Bol d'air en famille

Le logement est spacieux. Le salon offre plusieurs canapés qui permettent à tout le monde de se détendre. La cuisine est très bien équipée même si on aurait apprécié avoir un presse agrumes et un batteur électrique. L'aspirateur devrait également être changé car il n'aspire plus et on ramène beaucoup de sable dans la maison. Attention la description est fausse, il n'y a que 2 salle de bain et non 5. L'accès à la plage ce fait via une voie piétonne / cyclable dans la forêt, c'est top. En général nous avons passé un bon séjour mais l'expérience aurait pû être améliorée.

Lovely sheltered property in beautiful location

This is a fabulous rental for an extended family trip! We were able to accommodate three generations easily. The heated pool in the sheltered yard was a huge hit with kids and grown ups alike, and was well used throughout. The nearby beach is gorgeous, and the myriad flat cycle paths were also great for the kids. We made good use of the available bikes, and are already considering a return visit. All communication with the host was efficient and pleasant. Loved it.

Do not hesitate to rent this property

Le Pavot is a lovely home designed to exceed your expectations. The home is close to a fantastic amazingly clean beach that is wonderful for families and really anyone. The pool is right off the back of the house and is a nice swim. I am a bit squeamish about cold water and the pool temperature was perfect. The house is well appointed and has lots of “nice to haves” like a well equipped kitchen, baby gates, well laid out rooms, fans, books, local tourist materials, games, and films. La Tranche sur Mer was a fun little town to wander around with a variety of restaurants and shops. It reminded us of a Greek town given the white buildings, blue shutters and wide pedestrian ways. We were only there for a few days so didn’t get to do as much as we would have liked. We would love to go back with our whole family.

Family holiday

We stayed here as a group of 4 adults and 2 children and found the villa absolutely perfect. There was plenty of room allowing everyone to have their own space and the communal areas were large and bright. The pool was fantastic, lovely and warm and the fence a real bonus. We walked to the local playground in the forest with the children and took trips into town and to the beach. Off season the beach is less then a 5 mins drive away which was perfect with a 1 and 3 years old and had plenty of parking however would be a very short cycle ride away when parking was at a premium in peak times. We walked to the local bakery every day. Peter was a very helpful host with great and timely communications and helpful recommendations. We were all very impressed and would return if coming back to this area of France.

Vacances de rêve pour les enfants !

Très chouette maison bien équipée, de beaux espaces, grandes chambres. La piscine chauffée a fait le bonheur des enfants ainsi que le jardin de sable et la table de ping pong. Belles promenades tous les jours dans la forêt de pins pour aller à la plage ( la plus belle plage de la Tranche). Les vélos à disposition sont un plus même si nous n'avons pas eu l'occasion des les utiliser. Ce sera pour la prochaine fois !

An excellent property and location

We visited this property over the Christmas period and it suited our needs perfectly. It was clean, well presented and equipped. The bikes at the property were an added bonus and we enjoyed exploring the local area both on foot and on the bikes. We had a slight problem Christmas Eve as the oven decided to stop working but when we contacted the site manager he came out straight away to check it out and replaced the oven immediately - first class service! I would certainly recommend this property to a friend or relative. Even though the weather was cold we had some great walks along the local beaches.

Wonderful location

We had a lovely fortnight at Le Pavot at the beginning of September. Peter had been very helpful and prompt to answer questions before we arrived. There was plenty of space in the villa for five adults and a toddler. The pool was brilliant - warm and safe. We made very good use of the bikes; cycling to the local boulangerie, the beach and exploring the variety of ways into La Tranche. Our granddaughter loved going in the bike trailer. The Vendee coast was as magnificent as we remembered and watching the surfers at La Terriere was good entertainment.

Brilliant location

We had a brilliant week in La Tranche in late August 2017. The location of the house couldn't be better, so close to stunning safe beaches, cycle paths, playgrounds etc. The house itself is tired and it felt like it needed a thorough clean. Little things could have improved the first impressions; we had to unload a full dishwasher when we arrived as the previous occupants dishes were in there, most of the kids DVD boxes we opened were empty, there were virtually empty loo rolls left in the two loos rather than just one new roll in each etc. The other facilities however were great for our needs (7 adults and 4 young children), with 2 highchairs, 2 cots, plenty of crockery and glasses, plastic plates for kids etc. The heated pool was amazing and really made the holiday for us, the kids stayed in there for hours and the safety fence meant they could play in the sandpit without us worrying. The pool towels provided were also brilliant as was the washing/drying room. The bikes were great, again some weren't in great condition, and the kids trailer is on it's last legs but they were absolutely fine for the short journeys we were doing. The kids loved going out on the bikes and it made the holiday that we were able to use them at no extra cost or hassle of hiring them. The outside area and garden is quite overgrown and looks a bit neglected. The kids really enjoyed the sandpit but we didn't sit out in the garden in the evening as it was quite overgrown and it's a shame the hedges are so high. Overall we had a really great week. The house was fine for our needs, the pool and bikes were brilliant and we will definitely be returning to the area.

Hi, Thanks for taking time to review. The whole villa is regularly painted throughout inside every 2-3 years, being all white any small marks show. This was done again this spring. The bikes and bike trailer we replace when starts to cost too much to keep in good repair, roughly every three years, difficult as they have no resale value in La Tranche so we end up having to take old ones to the tip which seems criminal when they still work fine, so we try and make them last three seasons. There are 100s of DVDs, and kids take them by mistake or put in wrong boxes or scratch them sometimes, it's not practical to check all these between change overs, though we do this end of each season. Easy way to fix these problems of course is not provide things like bike and dvds which is stance most owners take, our kids really enjoy having them so we provide them and hope people look after them which for the most part they do.

Great family villa for large groups

We were a family group of 6 adults and four young children. The villa amenities are excellent with adequate bedrooms for all and plenty of communal living space in which to spread out. For the children there is Sky TV to keep them quiet for an hour first thing then a heated pool with shallow end with steps and deep end to suit all ages. The garden is relatively small but essentially a large sandpit again keeping the little ones occupied for hours on end. The local services are restricted to a baker, a bar and a restaurant but easy to venture just a little further in to La Tranche which offers a lovely selection of everything including a super beach. All in all we found this to be an excellent choice.

Fantastic property in a great location.

Fantastic property in a great location. Our kids (6 and 5) absolutely loved the pool, and the perimeter fence around the pool added peace of mind when the kids were not in the water, knowing they could play freely around the property without any fear of them falling into the pool. The shops and restaurants of La Tranche are a 10 minute cycle ride away, and La Terriere beach is even closer (perhaps the most stunning beach I have experienced on the west coast of Europe). Getting around is a breeze given the dedicated cycle-ways and footpaths. A very enjoyable stay and somewhere I would return without hesitation.

Two beautiful weeks

We (two adults with three kids from Germany) had two beautiful weeks in LePavot. The house is fine, we found everything that was described on "HomeAway". The furniture isn't new, but really ok. The Equipment ist good, the cleanliness was ok, either. The best for the kids was the pool: 28°C and really big!!! As the sea is rather cold, the pool is much better for swimming... We feared, that it could be already cold and rainy, but we've been lucky: We had nearly two weeks full of sunshine. The surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful with beautiful pine-trees. We did many tours (La Rochelle, Ile de Re, Puy du Fou, Marais poitevin, Sable d'Olonne,...), there was not a boring minute. Due to the end of the french summerholidays, it was already rather quiet and the beaches empty. If you like to look for sea-animals, I recommend going to the beach at the lighthouse. During low-tide, there are many little pools. We searched there many hours for seastars etc. with the children, much fun!
