The yurt was a perfect winter weekend getaway. So cozy, clean, and inviting! We enjoyed the snow shoes and the convenience to the city as we explored local breweries.
We loved our stay! The yurt was cozy, comfortable and so charming! It was stocked with everything we needed and more. The hot tub was so relaxing and the snowshoes were a nice bonus. It was a perfect winter getaway!
The Robins Nest was a perfect winter get away. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub while the chikadees flitted about. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. We loved the fresh baked cinnamon rolls from our host! It was spotless and cozy with everything we needed and so much more.
We had a wonderful experience at the Yurt cabin. A semi remote location in the woods makes for a peaceful stay. The place was very cozy, very clean and well laid out. The hot tub on the patio looking out at the woods and bird feeders was so relaxing Laying in bed looking out the skylight was amazing Was a great experience

The yurt was great. Very clean, super cozy and cute with all the amenities of home, including lots of added touches -- welcome basket, smores kit and fire kit ready to go, and a cart to haul our belongings. The property was well marked and easy to find. Would definitely go back again

The Robin's Nest yurt was the perfect home base for the holiday weekend while hanging out with family and friends in the area! Really cool space, climate controlled, and the amenities are awesome. Will definitely be back!
Enjoyed our stay here. The yurt is beautifully decorated and loved watching the birds. Didn’t feel as private as I thought it would, but overall a very nice get away.
Absolutely perfect place to stay. We had the best weekend reconnecting with nature; canoeing the Mississippi river, hiking the nearby 5x state parks. The yurt was spacious yet cozy. We were always comfortable during both the warm daytime and when it cooled off at night. Laying on the comfortable bed, staring up at the stars between the treetop canopy was a great way to relax before falling asleep. Bev and Dave truly made a wonderful place and had all the accomodations set up for a perfect relaxing retreat. Will definitely be coming back!
Unique and charming. Very comfortable for two. Comfy bed and sitting area, well outfitted kitchenette (cooktop allowed us to make dinner one night), nice patio for sitting outside and listening to the birds. Just outside of Grand Rapids, a short drive to the bike trails. The hot tub was a nice treat after a day of riding.

About the host
Hosted by David Wilson
David and I have been happily married for 36 years! We raised our three children here in Grand Rapids before moving away to further our careers in nursing. Two years ago, we purchased the 10-acre piece of property on Jess Harry Road and moved back to Grand Rapids. We fell in love with the trees! We built our first Yurt as a temporary situation but discovered that we liked our circular home with its window to the sky! We’re able to experience a closeness to nature that we’ve never had before. The sound of the rain on the roof is amazing! Looking through the dome as clouds drift by during the day and seeing the stars twinkle at night is a privilege that few people know. We’ve found a sense of peace and quiet in our tiny house as outside noises seem to bounce around its orbit. If it were not for our beloved Cocker Spaniels, Buddy & Holly, we would not know when visitors have arrived! Initially, friends & family worried about how we would fair in the yurt during the long cold MN winters. The gas fireplace keeps the house warm and cozy. The snow magically slides off the roof. Watching the snowflakes float outside the windows is mesmerizing! You truly feel like you are living in a snow globe! It’s lovely!
Why they chose this property
Throughout our relationship, we have enjoyed searching for and visiting unique vacation getaways; cabins, bed and breakfasts, a Creamery turned into a hotel! As we are entering our retirement years, we thought what fun it would be to create such a place ourselves and the idea for La Prairie Yurts was born!
What makes this property unique
“The Robins Nest” is the second of what we hope will be three if not four Yurts on the property. Visitors will quickly understand how it got its name. Robin along with other bird species are numerous. Our guests will also spot deer, rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks. We sometimes hear the distant cries of coyotes and were visited by a couple of little black bears this past Spring. It’s the perfect retreat for folks that want to experience being at one with nature and yet so close to the city of Grand Rapids. Just ten minutes away are shops, restaurants, breweries, arts and entertainment, lakes, trails and historic sites. We love Grand Rapids, and we love our Yurts!
