About this property
12pm check-in/out. NEW Modern Mountain Log House in Lake Lure on 30 acres
Introducing our NEW construction (2024) “Bearly Believable” Modern Mountain Log House with Panoramic Mountain Views. We want to share the “wows” when you first drive up and see the views, one of the best views in all of Lake Lure. There are five year-round streams on the 30 acres with trails and suspension bridge to a small island with seating and a gas firepit. The house sleeps 6-8 guests. Two 18-hole golf courses within approximately 4 miles from the house: Apple Valley Golf Course and Bald Mountain Golf Course.
Experience year-round mountain beauty in our newly constructed log house on 30 acres. Nestled at the end of a mountain valley on the north end of Lake Lure, it offers breathtaking 220+ degree views of Rumbling Bald Mountain, Young’s Mountain and the surrounding mountain ridges through expansive picture windows in our chalet-style cabin. Even when the weather isn’t as good, it’s even more beautiful with the fog flanking the side of the parallel mountain ridges and you see it moving around in the valley below you. Walk along our trails and see one of four year-round streams on the property.
In complete transparency, Vrbo lists it as 4 bedroom; however, it's what we would consider 3 bedroom plus bonus. The primary bedroom is the ground level with the King bed. Main floor is a Queen, the loft with it's own bathroom and AC is two twins, although we can push them together for you. The loft also has a room divider you can extend along the railing for additional privacy from below if you like, although it would block the mountain views a bit. The bonus is the TV room with a brand new pullout Queen sofa bed for two.
We are veteran-owned and family-operated and strive to give you the best possible vacation experience.
What we Offer:
Early checkin and late checkout, both are 12pm at no extra cost. We do this by blocking out the day before and day after so we can take the time to ensure everything is as perfect for your stay as possible. We personally check every detail.
Stunning Views: Enjoy panoramic mountain vistas from the spacious deck, perfect for morning coffee or evening wine. The nearest visible house from the deck most of the year is over five miles away on the far side of Lake Lure, enjoy the solitude!
Leaf peeping!: We enjoy an extended fall color season due to the large number of white/red oaks. The oaks don’t change colors until approximately one month after the other trees, extending the season into November and beyond.
Star Gazing: The expansive deck doubles as the perfect place to star gaze on clear nights. Just make sure to turn off the lights inside the house for the best stargazing experience.
ADA-friendly: Although we don’t have a ramp for the front porch (future plans), we designed the entire first floor to have 36”-wide doors for wheelchair access. There is also an extra-large shower on the main floor with a safety bar and hand-held shower nozzle for your convenience. Access to the decks is also via a 36” wide door or a double French door.
Deck Firepit: Relax around the gas firepit on our 16’ tall hexagon deck that extends out past the rest of the deck and makes you feel as if you are hovering in the middle of the mountain valley. For your safety, we have 42” tall railings with vertical stainless-steel cables so small children cannot easily climb them.
Screened in / covered deck: Large screened-in covered deck with ceiling fan and outdoor tv. “No-see-um” / mosquito netting is being installed under the deck floor as well for your “bug free” experience (as much as one can hope for anyway).
Outdoor Adventure:
• Hiking - Enjoy our maintained hiking, four ear-round streams and various tables and firepits across the rest of our 30 acres.
• Mountain Biking - Bike on our trails down to the Buffalo Creek Park mountain bike / hiking trail, which is only a little over ¼ mile from the southern edge of our property. There is a rather steep 3-mile loop as well as a 17-mile one-way spur trail over toward the Chimney Rock area. Look at on-line videos and all of the positive reviews. Park your bikes in our storage shed or under the covered deck.
• Suspension bridge / Cardinal Island. Go across our suspension bridge to our own small Cardinal Island in the middle of Buffalo Creek and have a picnic or enjoy a small wood firepit. We named it “Cardinal” island since the red cardinal bird is said to be an uplifting, happy sign that those we have lost will live forever, so long as we keep their memory alive in our hearts. Our metal “Red” will soon be “perched” again at the head of the island after a renovation.
• Serenity Falls. Hike to our small Lower Serenity Falls on the property and sit and enjoy the tranquility, have a picnic or sit by a small firepit.
• Campfires. There are several firepits on the property. In addition to the gas firepit at the house, there is a small wood firepit on Cardinal Island, one at Serenity Falls and a very large firepit at the owner’s area on the other side of the property. All the wood you need is provided, and we can even help you start it if you like if we are available.
• Full access / guided tours: Enjoy your exclusive access to the entire house and our 30 acres. We’re happy to provide guided tours of everything the property has to offer (when we are in town) or explore on your own. We can also start your campfire for you if you’d rather we do it.
Modern Kitchen: Equipped with all new KitchenAid appliances including a convection oven, five-burner smooth surface stovetop, dishwasher and refrigerator (Whirlpool).
Fireplace: The gas fireplace, with its modern copper coin surround, is perfect for chilly nights or to add a little ambiance.
Reading Nook: Relax in our lounger to enjoy the mountain views or enjoy a good book from our “leave one – take one” collection of novels. With any kids on the ground floor watching tv or playing games (the door closed to that area), we challenge you to not fall asleep in the cush lounger.
Reliable Power: The whole-house generator will ensure you never lose power.
Starlink Internet: Stay connected with high-speed satellite internet.
Charging Stations: The kitchen has two USB / USB-C plugs built into the power outlets. Each bedroom had USB / USB-C plugs as well, one pair for each side of the bed.
Dedicated Workspace: An adjustable-height desk located in the ground floor TV area will raise or lower with the press of a button, including up to standing desk height.
Keyless Self-Entry: The front door has a keypad entry system for your convenience and safety – no keys needed to keep up with during your stay.
