About this property
California Dreamin' Upscale Architectural marvel / Horizon ocean view on 3 acres
Vista Seas is a custom geodesic dome located on a 3 acre hilltop, with a horizon ocean view, 5 min. from both Pismo or Grover Beach, 15 minutes from the airport, San Luis Obispos's many downtown cafes, breweries, boutiques and wineries galore close by.
We are 1 minute from the 101 freeway and 5 minutes from anywhere in the 5 cities. A favorite just a 5 minute drive is the Old Town of Arroyo Grande with it's Saturday morning Farmer's market and a multitude of bistros, restaurants and boutiques.
Another 5 min. drive takes you to Pismo Beach and it's new boardwalk and pier or try the 'drive on' sand dunes of Grover Beach. Another favorite beach to enjoy with it's many shops and bistros is Avila, a 15 min. drive. The upscale college town of San Luis Obispo is just a 15 min away and more to explore there. It's famous "Thursday night market" where downtown streets are closed off for outdoor vendors and restauants open to the street, it is a crowd pleaser for adults and kids. To keep you busy besides the beaches...did we mention we are centered in the very heart of California's Central Coast WIneries? Too many to mention and all start no more than 10 minutes away.
Enjoy the quiet and views of oaks, pines and palms gazing down to the rim of the sea from the Tiger wood decking warmed by the interior/exterior fireplace. Enjoy the Japanese soaking cedar tub. Then take the curved stairs down to the lower stained cement patio and sit around the massive custom Chicago brick firepit with a curved stacked stone wall framing the upper deck. Ample arm chairs and couch with table to sit and enjoy the views with our art in place in the form of massive custom pots and their silk plants to soften the hillside views. Peace and solitude after your busy day.
Walking through the custom steel and glass double entry doors you will find the space, light and tranquility that makes the interior of this custom home so unique.
33 foot (11M) high ceilings in the living area, hand troweled plaster walls and a stacked stone wall surrounding the gas interior/exterior fireplace with light from the 20 foot (7M) high custom framed windows that pours into the sunken living area creates an ambiance that is exceptional. The sunken living room fireplace opens out onto the circular Tigerwood deck, complete with seating, table and our unique bronze art piece, "Inspiration" from a L.A. sculptor.
The living room with it's high ceiling is exceptional in open plan living with unique art throughout. All lower level floors are Travertine, the counters in the kitchen are Typhoon Bordeaux. In the open plan kitchen is a gas range and an oven with both convection or standard heat choices, all stainless appliances, ultra quiet Bosch dishwasher. Store your wines in the wine frig next to the sink!
In the deep sunken living room is the hearth of Rain Forest marble and a massive stacked stone wall with custom 'picture framed' windows facing oaks and palms beyond our deck, is a unique Rainforest marble, as are the counters in the master bath. This theme of nature, stone, rock, and marble runs throughout the home, both in flooring and counters as well as the unique live edge wood furnishings. With such massive ceiling heights, it is the light, the light that makes this home feel as if you are living within nature inside and out. Theatre spot lights brighten up the art and walls in the evenings.
Our eclectic art is often the most remarked comments by our guests. From an Egyptian tomb wall replica to an accent up light inside the bones of a Sedona Saguara Cactus set in an Indian Urhli ceremonial bowl keeps ouyr guests on the look out for what else is there? This all adds to the richness that our guests enjoy and helps create an atmosphere that this is not "just a rental" but a home of unique quality and comfort.
The master bedroom is on the ground floor and has a California King mattress and en suite bathroom . The art continues with a massive Triptych photo of Bryce Canyon after a snow storm on the wall, as well as an antique Japanese wedding Kimono on another. Sit down at the foot of the bed on a Blue Pine live edge seat to change shoes for beach going flip flops.
Before heading up the curved stairs, the office contains a live edged desk, sofa and cushion below the coffee table to play board games oin that are stored in the bookcase, also filled with books. This room features owner's passion for all things magic and has news articles, memorabelia galore to check out while hooking up your lap top.
The two bedrooms upstairs have a queen bed in one and two extra- long singles in the third bedroom, with a Travertine tiled tub/shower bathroom in between.
The mezzanine landing has a custom live edge "river" desk with ocean views, as well as a child's desk, with coloring books and crayons, kids books available as well. Teak furnishings allow for adults to set down a glass of wine on the Navajo drum, bought in Arizona on a reservation there.
The horizon sea views from here are perfect for sunset watching or throughout the day.

Our story
Since retiring, Michael and Janice live at their private island home, Honey Bee Island, in Canada’s 1,000 Islands during the summer months and then fly to their primary residence on the Central Coast of California and spend the winter there. In the spring they return to their villa on the French Riviera, until their return to their island in June. They love to travel! Janice was a dental hygienist while Michael’s vocation was to spend 30 years in prison…eh, administration.
The owners built the home themselves over a two year period and have made substantial improvements and renovations yearly ever since.
