We had a wonderful time here. This home was so comfortable and it was updated throughout and cozy. There are nearby restaurants, a grocer and a gas station. Sipapu is about 15 minutes away.
It is a historic home in a nice little town way up in the mountains. There is a small store, gas station, clinic, and a couple of restaurants within walking distance. We were visiting for a graduation, and the house is only a block away from the school. The house is obviously remodeled. The wifi was excellent, never had a problem with it. We enjoyed ourselves completely.

Vacation from hell!
I paid for 4 days, 3 nights stay. check in Monday, scheduled check-out Thursday. I locked myself out the 1st day and it took the homeowner 4 days to get the key. I used the house less than 24 hours, and waited for 4 days for a key that was "overnighted" from AZ to NM. That is just the ending. I WISH TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT. THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT WHAT VRBO ADVERTISES.

Your stay was absolutely heartbreaking on my end too. Unfortunately, had you read all of the owner instructions the lockout would never have happened.
I worked extremely hard for three days to overnight extra keys to you - but I can’t control FedEx - and I did try!
I am truly sorry that your stay happened the way it did.
Believe me it was extremely stressful on my end as well because I truly care about my guests.
I wish you all the best and just strongly recommend you read the owners’ instructions before and during any stay.
3 people for 4 days in May, 2025. Overall, a good experience, but ..... 2 of the bedrooms were true bedrooms, but the third used the entry room at the rear of the house, didn't have a large bed like the other bedrooms, didn't offer much privacy and was near the bathroom. A person using one of the "regular" bedrooms has to pass thru the other "regular" bedroom or the so-so bedroom to get to the bathroom and kitchen. This adobe home has a lot of space in the living room/TV room, in the dining room and in the kitchen. The adobe walls moderate the interior temperature. The kitchen has all the features and utensils you'd need. Well kept up. The so-so bedroom has the only large propane heater and the living room/TV room has a wood-burning stove, which we didn't try out. There are 3 portable electric heaters available to use in the other rooms. The TV uses Roku service offering lots of channels.. There's a nice family vibe about the place. As a tall person, I kept bumping my head on the low doorways into some rooms. The bathroom was fome, with one of those instant water heaters to provide immediate hot water. Has washer and drier with detergent provided, but the drier is slow to dry. Hwy. 75 passes right in front of the home, but traffic is light and traffic noise not a problem. Penasco has 1,200 people and not much activity, but has popular and excellent "Sugar Nymphs" restaurant across street. Town has medical and dental clinic. Elevation 7,600 feet. Large dollar store.
I was born and raised in New Mexico, where enjoying family and friends is a way of life.
Why they chose this property
My family has been in this area since the 1600s - when the Spaniards (my ancestors) arrived. It is very special place to me. A humble community beautifully nestled in the Sangre De Cristo mountains.
What makes this property unique
My late father helped his dad build the home when my dad was about 14 years old. It holds special memories and significance.
