About this property
Riverfront Log Cabin w Fireplace, Grill & Fire Pit
Summary:
Washington Riverbend is a traditional log cabin with stone fireplace, cozy loft, and mountain views of the Potomac where George Washington once surveyed. Relax while enjoying the sounds of the river, or go fishing, tubing, or take a dip in the water.
The highlights:
- Direct river access with a 5-10 min walk - enjoy fishing, swimming, or tubing
- Gather in the spacious great room & cozy up by the fire
- Enjoy fast, reliable Frontier Fiber
- Drive 35 min to Berkeley Springs for amazing dining & shops
The Space:
This traditional log cabin sits on a large piece of land overlooking the Potomac River with plenty of trees and privacy. Plenty of room for the kids to run, family gatherings or a weekend away with friends. Enjoy the large, multi-level deck for grilling or relaxing with a good book. In the evenings, you’ll enjoy roasting s’mores by the fire pit. And, you’ll find on the wall George Washington’s survey of the area with this property included—in addition to mapping much of the area, he also owned property here. Whether you're casting a line, exploring nearby trails, or simply soaking in the views from the deck, our cabin promises a delightful escape where the river is always just a step away.
The cabin includes:
- 2 bedrooms
--Bedroom 1 (open loft) - King bed
--Bedroom 2 - Queen bed
- 1 full bath on main level
- Fully-equipped kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, and refrigerator
- Large seating area perfect for gathering and preparing your favorite recipes
- Cozy wood fireplace to stay warm on chilly nights
- Multi level decks for lounging in the fresh air
- Fast, reliable Frontier Fiber — perfect for streaming your favorite shows or staying connected with video calls
(Note that there isn't a TV in the cabin, but streaming on your laptop or phones works great!)
Outside, you’ll also find:
- Grill and gather on the large deck
- Direct river access from the property (5 or 10 min walk)
- The C&O Canal and Paw Paw Tunnel just a 10–15 min drive
- Spacious yard for outdoor games and family fun
- Roast s’mores in the fire pit
- Enjoy fishing, swimming or tubing in the river
- From time to time, bald eagle sightings—they are known to nest on this crest overlooking the river
Pet Policy:
We love hosting families and well-behaved dogs! For allergy and maintenance reasons, we’re unfortunately unable to host cats.
Beyond the cabin itself, we love how close we are to Berkeley Springs, a 35 minute drive from the cabin and is great for so many reasons. The town of Berkeley Springs has been voted one of the top arts communities in the US, with dozens of shops and restaurants, and even a brewery and winery! Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the annual Paw Paw festival that happens every September.
Please note: Getting here may have you driving over sections of gravel road, and we recommend you bring food and groceries with you since it is a 45-minute drive to the nearest grocery store, the Berkeley Springs Food Lion.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Please note: The stairs leading down to the river are off-limits and unsafe to use. For your safety, we kindly ask that you do not attempt to access them. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
What makes this property unique
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Washington Riverbend in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
