Perched hundreds of feet above Lake Vallecito, this professionally managed, 2-story floor plan with two living areas opens up to the stunning views of the lake and mountain peaks. Looking through high windows, three sliding glass doors or sitting outside on one of the two decks provide aerial landscapes that will take your breath away!

Wildlife abounds at your doorstep, with the chipmunks and deer at play. Hummingbirds buzz by the deck, while eagles and osprey soar above the lake. Vallecito Reservoir, sheltered in a mountain valley at 6,700 feet elevation, is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in Colorado. The San Juan National Forest and Weminuche Wilderness, over 2.5 million acres of public land, surround Vallecito Lake and touch the north boundary of this spectacular mountain retreat. Families can hike or horseback directly to the wilderness area and the Continental Divide.

Three rock fireplaces provide warmth to the master bedroom and two living areas. Vaulted ceilings showcase the T&G wood ceiling and floor to ceiling windows. The house was recently furnished, freshly decorated and has all new bedding. The spacious kitchen and open floorplan is perfect for entertaining. The small kitchenette downstairs provides additional comforts for large families or two family stays. The two car garage and walk off 2nd story porch provides added comfort.
Summer or winter, this location is for those who want to experience the adrenaline of mountain lake experiences and skiing or just want to relax and enjoy the beauty of the wilderness and the star-filled skies at night.

Fall brings beautiful changing colors of the aspen and fishing opportunities in the two rivers that continually feed the lake. The house is situated above Vallecito Marina and timing the lake’s salmon run is a lasting event in itself. With over 50 miles of streams and numerous ‘hike in’ mountain lakes, the opportunities to catch rainbows, brookies, browns, and cutthroats are like the views, endless. Larger Pike, Rainbow and Brown Trout troll the lake. The adjacent wilderness area is Colorado's largest, and adventurers can hunt and hike on 500 miles of trails.

Winter snowmobiling and cross country skiing can be enhanced by short drives to Durango Mountain Resort/Purgatory and Wolf Creek. All-wheel or 4-wheel drive necessary to access the property during winter months.

Beautiful lake view!

Comfortable, spacious home in a quiet neighborhood with views of the lake from almost every room. Upper deck is wonderful for relaxing and watching wildlife--deer, wild turkeys, hummingbirds and other wild birds at the feeders. Large, well-stocked kitchen was great for cooking meals. Short drive to get to excellent hiking trails in the area. Communication with the host was timely and thorough. Thank you, Jennifer!

Best Stay Ever!

Cleanest house, comfortable beds & furniture, absolutely best stocked house! Above all of that is the incredible view from every room! Owner was quick to address our concern and didn’t hesitate to help us! We have been renting cabins & houses at Vallecito Lake for 30 years & this rental was the best house we have ever rented! We will be back!

Beautiful place of solitude

Gorgeous views. House very well appointed. Lots of wildlife. Lots of deer and a flock of wild turkeys roaming the property. Saw bald eagles. The views are phenomenal. Highly recommend this property.

We had a great time! Lots of hikes and shopping in Durango. Rented a pontoon boat on the lake Took the road to Silverton. Went to the Bar D Chuckwagon for an evening of activities, great food & amazing music. Evenings were for fam. Fun for all

Great Getaway

Spent 9 days here with my family. We really enjoyed the spaciousness and the views. Communication with the host was great. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to prepare meals at home. We had record heat that week, but the upstairs remained comfortable with the mini-split AC in the living area and cool breezes from the windows and doors in the evening. All-in-all a nice place to stay, and we hope to return soon!

Don't pass up the chance.

We truly experienced a Hallmark Christmas. The view is a creation of beauty that you have to see. It's peaceful, breathtaking and overall a place of wonder. Trails are near for hiking. The house is cozy, comfortable and easy to take a nap in. Watch the sunrise on the deck with your morning beverage. Cook in the best stocked kitchen I've seen and finish your day watching the sunset. Don't pass up on the opportunity to stay here. You will not be disappointed.

Peaceful and beautiful

The cabin was beautiful, and the views were incredible. From the master bedroom I could wake up to the sunrise on the mountains and the shimmering lake. It truly is Heaven's View. It's about a 25 minute drive to Durango, so out of the way from town. I enjoyed walking my dogs up the neighborhood hill, that was great exercise! Jennifer is too kind for sharing this place wth the world, I loved that she graciously allowed my 3 well behaved fur babies to stay, too. My family and I sat out on the wraparound deck every night watching shooting stars. Its so quiet & peaceful. We visit Durango often, so we definitely will be back! Thank you for sharing your gem of a home!

Great, relaxing summer retreat!

We were two families with teenagers. The house was perfect, decks looking out on the lake everywhere, lots of wildlife. We loved the lake, brought kayaks we were able to dock at the marina for a small fee. Teens loved swimming, hiking. We meant to go to Durango, but were enjoying the lazy summer and views so much, we stuck close to home. The kitchen was spacious and great, beds comfortable. Only heads up is not to necessarily use Google maps for directions. There is another Lakeview Drive, the correct one is right off Vallecito Lake before you get to the marina. Would definitely return, great property and beautiful area.

The house is in a beautiful location and has an amazing view. It is situated high on the mountain so there is a steep gravel road that leads to the home. The fall was lovely, but the reservoir was very low, the marina was closed as a result. We still were able to fish off the shore and caught a lot of trout. Beautiful area. Stairs are required to enter the house. The kitchen is well-equipped.While the house was cleaned prior to arrival, there was a very strong odor of animals within the stairwell and bottom floor. We did discuss with the host, tried to air out the place, but the smell was still very strong. We had the option to leave, but we made the choice to stay. We could not use the bottom level as a result of the smell. My son had to sleep on the coach on the main level. The host was responsive to our concerns during our stay, offered to help find us a location elsewhere, but we wanted to stay in Vallecito by the lake. We could not find an alternate place in Vallecito given the short notice, so we stayed and did not use the bottom floor. There is one bedroom on the top level and two in the bottom.We would not stay here again. The home is in need of attention due to the smell and a few other factors. It didn’t sound like the host was aware of the smell. The cost does not support the condition of the home. It was unfortunate and disappointing.

Beautiful but neglected

The home is in a beautiful location! Gorgeous views! They home is very beautiful but seems neglected. Sliding doors to deck all had broken screen doors. Some screens held together with duct tape! Large pile of old wood and old lawn chairs in front yard. Carpet was badly stained on stairs and downstairs living area. We were promised some amenities by the owner and it never happened. We tried to contact owner several times ( about home issues) but no response. I would still recommend this property for the views alone!

Beautiful Vacation Home!!

Thank-you for allowing us to stay at this beautiful cabin! The cabin is named appropriately, Heaven's View. The first night I walked out onto the balcony, I was in awe of how beautiful and bright the twinkling stars were. It was dizzying. I felt like I could reach and touch the heavens! The inside of the cabin is very spacious and decorated so cute! Every morning and evening, deer would greet us. They were just as curious about us, as we were them. There is so much to do. We hiked, of course! Paddled a canoe we rented from the Doc's Mariana. I highly recommend renting a jeep in Silverton and going to to the Animas Ghost town and Cinnamon Pass. It was so beautiful, but not for the faint of heart! We road the Durango-Silverton train and hiked some trails around Silverton. One of the best things to do at this home, is to just sit outside and enjoy the view. I definitely would come back and recommend the home to any of my friends or family!

Great stay at beautiful lake property

Family greatly enjoyed the graceful cabin and forest in this cool and quiet part of Vallecito. Plenty of spaces for group or private retreat, indoors and out, with easy driving access to the lake, adjacent to good walking roads. Highlight was forest and lake views from the deck, with turkey and deer passing by almost hourly. Greatly appreciated the attention to stocking the house - from books and games, to kitchen sundries, ingredients, and cookware. Owner helpful and responsive to inquiries we had. Recommended.

Great place!

This home was the perfect combination. The views, the wildlife (deer and hummingbirds) and the location (close to all kinds of activities) were amazing. The house has plenty of space and seating both inside and all around the outside decks! We will be back!

Great location with a beautiful view of the lake (kind of a hike down to the lake if you walk). Spent an afternoon on the lake, hiked in the San Jaun National forest and just enjoyed quiet times in the morning on the deck with a warm beverage, especially in the little covered nook of the master bedroom.

Spacious with a fabulous view

The house is very comfortable and well stocked unlike some other properties we’ve stayed in. The view is unbeatable. It’s remote which can be good and bad depending on what you plan to do while in the area. We loved it and would definitely stay again. Owners are super helpful and accommodating. A hidden jewel!

Fabulous View!

This was one of the most peaceful places we’ve stayed in the last 10 years. Great views of the lake with deer and turkeys making an almost daily appearance. And if you love watching hummingbird antics, this is the place! We were a bit disappointed that the lake was so low, made it difficult to find good fishing spots but the view of it is spectacular. Beds were comfortable, plenty of seating for meals and evening relaxation. Kitchen is amazingly well stocked which was great as we cooked / grilled every night. A pleasure of a stay, you won’t be disappointed!
