The laura is a great host. The house is very clean and beautiful. The only issue is the one bedroom is awkwardly located, but not a huge problem. Would definetly stay again.
Hosts Laura and Owen were outstanding. The house was beautifully cleaned and ready for us. The hosts provided us much important guidance - notably, the best approach on snowy roads - about the house and related to our stay in Stowe. They were always immediately accessible.

Thank you for staying with us, Jesse, it was a pleasure to host you and your extended family. It's always nice to host a guest that goes above and beyond taking care of our family home.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful home for a girls ski trip to Stowe! The house was spacious, comfortable, and had breathtaking mountain views. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day on the slopes. Laura, the host, was fantastic—super communicative and helpful throughout our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!
Couldn't fault this amazing property and Laura and Owen.Awesome huge house, isolated and quiet in a beautiful valley - but close to Stowe mountain and the towns of Stowe and Waterbury (car required). Amazing fire place and view, lots of king beds, good heating system and everything you would need to stay for a weekend, a week (or maybe even longer!) We did not want to leave and will be booking again. Above all, Laura & Owen went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful. Knowing we were arriving late, they left delicious food, a fully stocked fridge and pantry and were amazing in communicating in advance and giving advice and recommendations and warnings about stormy weather, where to rent skis, best places to eat and drink, things to do when not skiing - everything! We cannot recommend this house more and I'm sure it would be equally as beautiful and amazing in the summer (if not more!)

About the host
Hosted by Owen Donovan McDermott
Owen and Laura have been hosts for many years, mostly on another platform, where we have an excellent rating and several dozen reviews. We have lived in Vermont since 2005, raising our two children here where they enjoy outdoor education and any activity taking place in the mountains. Laura spent her toddler years in Warren, Vermont, learning to ski at age 2, just like her children. We decided in 2024 to put our family home on VRBO. We enjoy helping our guests navigate the area, learn the secret spots, find the best take out and restaurants (some require booking well ahead of your stay). We are available for guided hikes/snowshoes and first time ski lessons on the magic carpet at Stowe - please inquire. We enjoy staying in homes when we travel, and in 2024 went to New Zealand and England. Laura has lived in Japan, Thailand, and Singapore. Owen has lived in Mexico. We also enjoy traveling in Canada each summer. We love camping as well!
Why they chose this property
When Stowe put our road on it's Scenic Byway it was no coincidence. This is the road parallel to Rte 100 (the only road into Stowe from the highway). And it's a gorgeous straight shot across a mountain valley with wide expanses and farms. Many think foliage is the best season. Spring ephemerals are magical in nearby mountain trails, summer has backcountry biking and hiking, and winter has skiing and snowshoeing. Our house has a secret entrance to a local backcountry ski network - that is what we mean by "ski in/ski out" for those adventurous to avoid lift service. We are the first house next to the Stowe town line, so expect a quieter time with less traffic and more nature/expansive views of the Hunger Mountain range.
What makes this property unique
Guests always tell us "this house is bigger than it seems from the photos." Or "we love the charm of this cabin." With a surprise bonus suite in the basement, there's plenty of places to spread out. Guests also love the apple orchard, the mountain views, the neighborhood farms, the brook and trails along it. The sunrises behind the mountain, and the sun sets that light up the mountain pink. And don't forget the clear skies without any light pollution for stargazing. The proximity to Waterbury and Stowe, and even Burlington/Montpelier.
