About this property
Ocean on 6th
This home was a beloved rental property for about 15 years. Following Hurricane Irma in 2017, we completely remodeled it and made it our own primary residence. Now that we've moved in 2025, we're excited to offer it as a rental once again.
Ocean on 6th is a single family ground level residence, located on the ocean side in the heart of a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood in Marathon. This beautiful waterfront home offers guests 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, 2 of which are en-suite. Step outside to enjoy a secluded pool (heating option available), private dock, propane BBQ grill, swim ladder and comfortable seating areas. If you don't have a boat, no problem - you can fish directly off the dock. With our magnificent ocean views, guests regularly spot manatees and dolphins swimming by.
The master bedroom is a truly exceptional space - an expansive 800 sq ft room occupying its own private 2nd story floor. It features a king bed, home office area, smart TV and an ensuite bathroom with his and her vanities plus a walk-in shower. The fabulous direct ocean views make you feel like you're on a cruise ship. The 2nd master bedroom is located on the first floor and includes two queen beds, a smart TV and an ensuite bathroom with a single vanity and walk-in shower, overlooking our beautiful garden. A 3rd bedroom is also on the first floor, furnished with a queen bed and smart TV, with a full bathroom featuring a single vanity and walk-in shower located conveniently across the hall.
For indoor entertainment, the first floor offers a comfortable family room with a smart TV, Xfinity cable, and a dining table area - perfect for family movie night, game night, or the occasional rainy day. Our full kitchen is equipped with an oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher, and all the necessary cookware, dishes, serving platters and flatware for those who prefer to dine in. Start your morning with coffee from the Keurig coffee maker or use the electric kettle while watching a famous Florida Keys sunrise. For your convenience, we provide a full washer and dryer, all linens, bath towels, and pool towels.
Ocean on 6th is ideally situated with three restaurants within a 5-minute walk and two supermarkets within a 10-minute drive. Boaters will appreciate that we're just 3 blocks from Vaca Cut, providing direct access to both Florida Bay and the open ocean. Please note that Little Venice is a small, tight-knit neighborhood, and we respect our friendly neighbors. The driveway accommodates only two vehicles, and no trailers are allowed on the property. Guests must launch their boats and park trailers BEFORE arrival, as street parking is prohibited by city ordinance.
Our seawall can accommodate one boat up to 35 feet with a standard 110 outlet nearby and installed cleats. Please be advised that as we're on open ocean, conditions can be rough at times - bring large fenders/bumpers and extra dock lines to properly secure your vessel. Guests need to provide their own lines and fenders, as not all boaters respect the no-wake speed limit. For fishing enthusiasts, we offer a fish cleaning station with lighting and a bait freezer on the premises.
We maintain a strict no-smoking policy, and pets are prohibited with no exceptions. Onsite parties or group events are not permitted. The primary guest must be at least 25 years old, and all guests are required to e-sign our terms and conditions after booking confirmation. Check-in is at 4pm and check-out is at 10am.
Marathon's name has an interesting history, dating back to the construction of the Florida East Coast Railroad when workers complained that the project was "getting to be a real marathon" due to its challenging pace. Today, Marathon offers plenty of family-friendly activities. Florida Keys Aquarium Encounters is just a short walk from the house. Nearby attractions include the Turtle Hospital, Dolphin Research Center where you can swim with dolphins, and Crane Point where Marathon's earliest settlers arrived. For exercise enthusiasts, you can walk 4 miles of the 7-Mile Bridge and visit the museum where railroad workers were housed during construction in the early 1900s. For day trips, Key West is an hour's drive west, and Islamorada is a 35-minute drive east.
