My friend's and I had a girl's night away and this was perfect! Very clean, very cozy - loved the woodstove, the trails and mattresses we comfy!I met Kez before my friend's showed up and she was very hospitable; I felt very welcome. We are looking forward to staying again in the future!
Wonderful cabin, wonderful stay. We appreciated the design and craftsmanship, plus artistry and just the right amount of furnishings and color. We wish we’d had a longer stay. We’d love to return and explore the trails.
We LOVED our time at BowHaven cabin, it was the perfect getaway. Quiet, peaceful, very clean and cozy. The cabin stayed warm enough with the fireplace even though it was a cold Fall weekend, and we appreciated the running water and electricity (which we weren't expecting). The outhouse was also incredibly clean and easy to use. Our dog loved it as well and we enjoyed the trails and firepit. We will definitely come again if we can! Thank you!!
This beautifully crafted cabin with all the thoughtful touches was a delight! We will definitely try to come back. The setup was a bit more rugged than we expected but I love the sustainability built into everything. Thank you so much to our wonderful hosts and we hope to come again!
The gentle aromatic pine smell of the forest was felt immediately after stepping out of my car. The cabin is nestled into the woods & very quite. I slept so so well. A great deal of care & thoughtfulness went into the building & maintenance of this property. I highly recommend this cabin & the excellent hosts.
The Bowhaven cottage was the perfect escape and getaway that we needed. The cabin is exactly as it is pictured online and the hosts thought of everything you need. It was the perfect home-base for us to visit Boothbay Harbor, Freeport and Brunswick. We also loved exploring all of the trails that surrounded the cabin with our dog. The hosts provided a map of the trails and all of them were very clearly marked. We enjoyed the fire pit on our last night. We are so thankful to the hosts for being so accommodating and will definitely be back again!
We were looking for a unique rural Maine experience and the cabin did not disappoint. Nestled in the woods not far from the parking area, We were offered a private setting without sacrificing convience. The cabin was beautifully finished and had the necessary amenities for a comfortable off grid experience.
We had a fantastic stay at Bowhaven cabin! It was extremely clean—truly spotless—and clearly very well cared for. Kez and Kyle are wonderful hosts: super communicative, welcoming, and thoughtful from start to finish. You can tell they take great pride in the property. The setting is peaceful and cozy, and everything we needed was right there. I’m already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!
We stayed at the cabin with 2 kids and a dog. It is very beautiful and well-maintained. It was a great way to introduce the kids to more than just pushing a button - simple living, so that they are aware of other ways people used to live or still live somewhere. It was a unique experience and attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the host show: from providing supplies like coffee, tea, sugar, salt, paper towels, etc to simple instructions for using toilet and shower and bug sprays for humans and pets. We enjoyed our stay.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Bowdoin Cabin. The listing is accurately described - a cool off-grid cabin that is super cozy. The outhouse is very well-kept and the solar shower was a fun touch. With the fans, we were able to stay cool even in the middle of July. Kyle was fast to respond to any question, and even dropped off tick spray during our stay.We loved the location - perfect to check out Freeport, Brunswick, Bath, and Lewiston, but also not far from Portland. We really wish we could have brought our dog (but we were flying), but it was so nice to meet Kyle and Kez's pups. Can't recommend this place enough!
Despite the gray, chilly weather, the cabin was cozy and warm. I just snuggled down on the couch and alternated looking at my book and looking out the huge window. A walk on the trails to the beaver pond was a bonus. Was hoping to see an eagle or a deer; maybe next time.A dream of a stay!
The cabin was tucked away and was very well built and designed. Easy to use and get around for 2 adults and 11 yr old. Outhouse was interesting. Understand why not nearer however having lights to it for night use could be easy upgrade for safety. Sadly couldn’t use fire ring as the ticks were just all over the ground. Along with ticks a lot of poison ivy which would have been hard to use fire ring with so much poison ivy all about where you would sit. Pretty vista of field. Shower was fun, maybe a sign to let people know to always hang their towels and clothes and check them for ticks as they were jumping on. Very quiet and had monopoly but no other games or cards. Beds comfy and efficiency kitchen worked great until battery died for electric on our last morning. Toilet could use light that is battery operated to go on when u enter as it’s pretty dark. I’m not familiar with these toilets but definitely have to take your time to read instructions. Overall a great time and very enjoyable for the granddaughter. A great place to sit and read and mentally unwind.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay! We really appreciate your feedback. We have addressed the poison ivy in the fire ring and have added several more games and books and are looking into lighting options for the outhouse. Unfortunately this has been a very bad tick season all over Maine, which is why we have been informing all guests before their arrival to carefully check for ticks. After your experience, we invested in a safe and effective tick spray which we are using now in key areas such as the shower. Additionally, thanks to your suggestions, we are now providing guests with an all natural tick spray made from the essential oils from cedar wood—safe for pets and humans. Regarding the battery power, we have now started "topping off" the battery / inverter each day for guests. That had never happened before, and we apologize deeply for the inconvenience. Thanks again for your thoughtful suggestions.
What a gem! Kyle and Alex were fantastic hosts! They made sure to start a fire to warm the cabin prior to our arrival and they were very attentive; even with a snow storm on its way! My husband, our pup and I all had an amazing and unique experience here in Maine! This is a must stay!
Kyle and Kez Bowman are from Bowdoin, Maine. They love building things with their hands and creating hiking trails in the woods!
What makes this property unique
BowHaven Cabin was built by us, to create the perfect Maine getaway vacation. We were inspired by the cabin Kez stayed in throughout her childhood and we recreated it with a lot of extra amenities and unique touches.
