Beautiful, romantic stone house in over 400 year old domaine

These stone houses and their several terraces are part of the Lagrenie domaine found in the hills overlooking Groléjac village, the Dordogne river and Perigordian hills. Situated at the end of a forest road, it is tranquility itself. However, the Medieval city of Sarlat and the famous villages Domme and La Roque-Gageac are 15 minutes away, Beynac Castle and Castelnaud: 25 minutes.

The Dutch owners live in Lagrenie's old farmhouse, with Les Cèpes (sleeps 6) and Les Girolles (sleeps 6) clustered around the views and the large shared (6 x 12 meters) pool. There is also a table tennis table and trampoline. Beautifully tended gardens provide ample space for children to exhaust themselves, while adults can relax in the complete privacy of the terraces.

Excellent stay - we enjoyed it very much!

Excellent house and facilities, lovely location, great swimming pool (really great!) very spacious and comfortable living space. The owners were really friendly and helpful. We had a great time, and seriously considering going back.

Hughes summer adventures

What a beautiful place to stay, relaxing and a breath of fresh air. The hosts were wonderful and kind and provided eveything we needed, even a hug when we had some personal bad news. The area surrounding the gite provided us with lots to do, from tree climbing, canoeing, cycling, shopping, night markets, meeting old friends and swimming. Fabulous times and we will no doubt return.

Genuine Paradise

Our stay at La Grenie was magical. Karin and Gijs are kind, welcoming and generous hosts. The property is well cared for, as were we during our stay! Our family of five adored everything about this place...the chickens, the sunsets, the pool, the forest, and the dogs Maya and Bimba. There are several towns and sites of interest very near by so visiting weekly markets, caves, castles, gardens and farms was very convenient. And so that left lots of time in the afternoons to enjoy the pool, the trampoline and a walk about the ruins at this stunning place. We will cherish our memories from our time at La Grenie for a lifetime! Thank you Karin & Gijs!

Parfait pour les randonneurs!

My 11th trip to France and 5th trip to the magical Dordogne found me at this perfect location with a friend for a week of hiking. The hosts are wonderful: helpful, there when you need them, but always respecting of privacy. The house is perfect with room for 8 and a lovely kitchen. The pool was nice after long days of hiking. We walked 20-25 kMs a day. And most days we hiked straight from the house. The Dordogne River and the voie verte bridge are but a stroll away. Nearby Groléjac has everything one needs with a small grocery, boucherie, fromagerie et boulangerie. The folks at the local hotel/restaurant were lovely and that proved a nice spot for gin and tonics and a simple meal. Sarlat and Dome are 15 minute drives away. Dome can also be a three hour hike away for the intrepid amongst you. Sarlat can be an easy bike ride away on the voir verte. Spurs of the local GR hiking trails, the GR64 and GR64A, pass very close to the property. These are part of the Chemins de Compostelle (Camino de Santiago). And indeed the house itself and dozens of local hikes can be seen on the IGN 2037OT and 2036ET 1:25,000 scale charts. I highly recommend ordering these charts, along with the 2136ET and 1936ET charts from the Institut Geographique National prior to any trip to the area. I, for one, plan all of my trips to France starting with the IGN charts.

Accueil très sympathique. Gite très bien placé, avec un environnement très agréable et penser pour les famille (piscine, trampoline, grand jardin, pas de route avec circulation), avec du cachet et bien équipé.Seul Bémol, l'isolation sonore entre l'étage et le RDC complexifie la gestion des siestes et et les levés du matin/nocturne de jeunes enfants (petite rançon de l'ancien)

Vacances de rêve !

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Lagrenie ! Karin et Gilbert ont tout fait pour que nous puissions déconnecter. Nous avons apprécié le calme de l’endroit, la décoration de la maison et des chambres extérieurs. Nous étions avec nos 2 enfants de 9 et 12 ans qui ont pu profiter chaque jour de la piscine, juste à côté de la maison. Le petit plus : la bibliothèque remplie de livres dans le salon, une vraie invitation à la lecture et au repos.

Ein Stückchen Paradies!

Vom ersten Eindruck an bei unserer Ankunft, hat La Grenie uns verzaubert! Das Anwesen ist in Realität noch schöner und weitläufiger als im Inserat geschildert wird. Die Gastgeber sind stets ansprechbar und sehr entgegenkommend. Das Haus (Les Cèpes) ist liebevoll eingerichtet und lässt es an nichts mangeln. Wir und unsere beiden Hunde haben den Urlaub in vollen Zügen genossen. Idealer Urlaubsort wenn man die Ruhe sucht und die Natur geniessen möchte. Viele geschichtsträchtige Orte sind in kurzer Zeit mit dem Auto erreichbar (Sarlat, Domme, Beynac et Cazenac etc.). Nochmal vielen Dank an Karin und Gijs!

A little corner of Paradise

Really enchanting spacious and very well appointed cottage in simply gorgeous surroundings with fabulous views, great pool and gardens. Superb base for visiting the numerous delights of the Dordogne. Hosts Karin and Grys always warm, friendly, and helpful, at the same time respecting privacy. Highly recommended as a 'home from home' to realy unwind, relax, and appreciate nature. We shall treasure our memories and greatly miss Les Ceps. Adam Emmanuelle Oscar Poppy, and Basil the dog.

Vite authentique, confortable avec beaucoup de charme

La maison est très agréable et bien aménagée et équipée, y compris en ustensiles de cuisine ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas dans les locations. La piscine est très belle. On est au milieu de la verdure, c'est beau et reposant. L'emplacement permet de visiter pas mal de beaux sites à proximité. Et les propriétaires sont charmants et disponibles pour toute question. Nous vous recommandons cette location!

A Truly amazing and magical place in the Dordogne

Our stay with Karin, at Lagrenie, is truly one of the best experiences we have had, in our travels through France. The property is beautiful, as was the house we stayed in. It had everything you would need. It is large and comfortable and had such a warm, welcoming feel. Awaiting us, in the fridge was a bottle of really nice white wine, bottled water and also fresh eggs, from Karin's chickens. Karin is truly one of the kindest, most thoughtful people we have ever met and is a perfect host. She really wants to make sure you enjoy your stay, at her property and in the area. We were there for 6 days and did not want to leave! If you are going to be in this area, you should definitely consider reserving this property. It will make your visit to the area so much better! When we return, in the fall, we hope to stay here again. Many thanks and best wishes to Karin and her husband (we did not get to meet him, as he was away, but hope to meet him, when we return).

Wir haben zwei wunderschöne Wochen im Haus Les Cepes verbracht. Die Unterbringung und auch die Umgebung sind perfekt, um sich richtig erholen zu können und den Alltag hinter sich zu lassen. Der grosszügige Pool lädt bei gutem Wetter zum schwimmen und verweilen ein. Und wenn das Wetter mal nicht mitspielt, gibt es in der Umgebung sehr viel zu erkunden. Das Haus ist gut ausgerüstet und bietet wirklich viel Platz. Hervorzuheben gilt es, dass bei unserer Ankunft bereits die Betten bezogen waren und wir WC-Papier, Abfallsäcke, Gewürze, etc. vorfanden, was wir so nicht kennen. Die Vermieter sind sehr herzlich und diskret zugleich. Wir werden sicher wiederkommen! Vielen Dank für den wunderschönen Urlaub!

Un petit coin de paradis

Wunderschöner Landurlaub

Wir haben zu zweit einen traumhaften 14tägigen Urlaub in der Fewo "Girolles" verbracht. Neben den sehr netten Gastgebern möchten wir insbesondere die wunderschöne Lage sowie die tolle Unterbringung samt Pool hervorheben. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Danke. Weiter so !

Sehr empfehlenswert.

Die Bewertung bezieht sich auf das Haus Les Cepes. Wir (2 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder 3 bzw. 7 Jahre alt) haben hier 2 zauberhafte Wochen verbracht. Hier stimmte irgendwie alles. Was besonders auffällt ist die tadellose Ausstattung des Hauses. Kleinigkeiten wie ordentliches Brotmesser, Taschenlampen, Kinderspielzeug, gefüllte Seifenspender, gekühlter Begrüssungswein und Gartenmöbel aus Holz mit passenden Polstern, sowie der beheizte Pool heben dieses Haus von anderen ab. Die Kinder haben viel Platz und waren jeden Abend glücklich das Sie mit den Hunden spielen konnten. Das gesamte Anwesen ist traumhaft schön, das Haus geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Karin hat alles dafür getan das wir uns richtig wohlfühlten. Noch erwähnenswert: In Grolejac gibt es für Kleinkinder einen schönen See mit Sandstrand und seichten Einstieg). Kurz gesagt: Prädikat sehr empfehlenswert !

Un paradis de beauté et de tranquillité

Située dans le lieu-dit "La Grenie", cette maison, située à proximité de celle des propriétaires, offre tout le confort nécessaire et plus encore ! La piscine chauffée est grande, très agréable et très bien aménagée, l'intérieur de la maison est cosy, chaleureux, décoré avec goût et en parfait état; les lits sont confortables. Il manque juste quelques chaînes TV françaises (en + de TV5 Monde) et ce serait parfait ! Ce lieu a beaucoup de charme. Tout est fait pour s'y sentir comme chez soi et les propriétaires (Karin et Gilbert) sont très prévenants. La vue sur la vallée est magique ! Nous sommes venus avec 3 enfants qui ont pu jouer en toute liberté dans le terrain très vaste et bien entretenu. Ce lieu était un bon choix pour profiter du silence de la campagne et de son charme tout en n'étant qu'à 10mn de Sarlat en voiture. Il est très bien situé, autant pour visiter la partie est du Périgord (Padirac, Rocamadour, etc.) que la partie ouest (Proumeyssac, les Eyzies...). Nous remercions l'accueil incroyable de Karin et Gilbert et toutes leurs gentilles attentions et conservons cette belle adresse pour revenir lors d'une prochaine visite.

Wunderschön

Wir haben 2 Wochen in diesem schönen Anwesen verbracht und haben uns rundherum wohl gefühlt. Das Haus ist sehr stilvoll und gemütlich eingerichtet. Wir haben viel selber gekocht, was in der gut ausgestatteten und geräumigen Küche viel Spass gemacht hat. Es gibt viel Platz und auch bei schlechtem Wetter, das wir nicht hatten, wäre für ausreichend Beschäftigung und Unterhaltung gesorgt gewesen (DVD Player inklusive verschiedene Filme und CDs, Bücher, Spiele). Die Vermieter Karin und Gijs waren sehr nett und haben uns sogar mit Eiern ihrer glücklichen Hühner und Gemüse aus dem eigenen Garten versorgt. Dafür nochmal ganz herzlichen Dank! Der riesige Garten bietet viel zu entdecken und viel Platz für Kinder und Hunde. Tischtennis, Trampolin und Pool, die beiden netten Labradore, wenn man möchte, braucht man La Grenie gar nicht zu verlassen. Da La Grenie aber wirklich sehr zentral zu den Attraktionen des Perigord Noir, insbesondere den an der Dordogne gelegenen Burgen, Schlössern und Gärten gelegen ist, wird es kaum dazu kommen. Montfort, la Roque Gageac, Castelnaud, Beynac, les Milandes, Fenelon, Marquessac, Domme, alles mit dem Auto schnell erreichbar. Wer will, ist auch schnell am Fluss um eine Kanutour zu machen ( sehr empfehlenswert) oder am kleinen Sportflughafen, wo man Rundflüge buchen kann. Keine Angst, es gibt keinen Fluglärm! Vielmehr ist es herrlich ruhig, so dass man sich so richtig erholen kann. Von La Grenie aus kann man auch viele tolle Wanderungen unternehmen. Wir können einen Urlaub dort unbedingt empfehlen. Ach ja,, Karin und Gijs sprechen neben Niederländisch und Französisch genauso gut Englisch und Deutsch!

Why they chose this property

We have dreamt all our lives of offering a quiet, inspiring place to people to relax, be happy and rebalanced from the pressures of society. We found Lagrenie in 2010 and we have turned it into something unique: the authenticity of a medieval domaine with all modern comfort you could wish. Lagrenie is surrounded by woods and has views over the river, but is very close to all famous castles, markets and villages of the Dordogne.
