Beautifully located stone house in over 400 year old domaine ****

Les Girolles is a stone house with several terraces that is part of the domaine Lagrenie, close to Groléjac. It is quietly situated at the end of a wood road, but just 15 minutes from the Medieval city of Sarlat and the famous villages Domme and La Roque-Cageac, and only 25 minutes from the castles of Castelnaud and Beynac. Located on a hillside it provides fantastic views over the river the Dordogne and the Perigordian hills.
Lagrenie consists of an old farmhouse, where the Dutch owners live, and two rental houses: Les Cèpes (sleeps 8) and Les Girolles (sleeps 6). The renters share a large swimming pool (6 x 12 meters), table tennis table and trampoline, and have complete privacy with several terraces of their own.

What a gem!

The views are amazing! Ancient surroundings, beautiful villages to visit and easy access to necessities. This was a wonderful week of relaxation for us with an amazing pool, well-stocked house, and helpful and friendly hosts. We would be glad to return anytime!

Tranquil haven

My wife and I, along with our two young children, stayed here for a week in June. The view from the 2-bed property was stunning and it is located in secluded woodland. Karin was an excellent host and the kids enjoyed seeing the chickens and playing on the trampoline. There is a lot to do in the local area so no need to drive more than 20mins each day. The interior of the property, although slightly dated in places, has a lovely charm to it and the overall ambiance of the place is wonderful. Thanks for a great stay Karin.

Booking in and traveling to Karin and Gijs property [ sorry if i misspelled his name] really didn't know what to expect. Worry no more, it is amazing! Photos on website, which are great, are not doing justice. Property looking better in real life. Hosts are wonderful, friendly, hardworking, educated, interesting, people you would like to have as friends and neighbors. There was six of us, all adults, house which we rented was big enough, giving us enough privacy from each other and at same time wonderful time together. We will definitively be back!!!

Heerlijk rustige plek

Lagrenie staat op een prachtige plek in de buurt van de rivier. Je komt er via een zijweg zodat je ultieme rust ervaart, want er is niemand anders dan Karin en Gijs, en wellicht enkele andere gasten. Je bent zo in Domme, La Roque of andere leuke dorpjes, maar je zit ook lekker in de natuur. Huis heeft een prachtig zwembad, veel kamers, lekker ruime zitkamer en fijn terras. We hebben genoten van onze vakantie

Ons verblijf in Lagrenie was top. Zeer aangenaam ontvangen en een tophuisje met zwembad om in te vertoeven. Daarnaast is het ook een uitstekende locatie.

Calme et très agréable

Wir bedanken uns für wunderbare Tage an der Dordogne. Das Haus, der Garten und die Lage sind ein Traum. Die Gastgeber herzlich und unglaublich hilfsbereit. Idyllisch und sehr ruhig

Das idyllisch und sehr ruhig gelegene Ferienhaus mit Blick übers Land bis hin zur Dordogne hat uns wirklich gut gefallen. Die extrem freundlichen Vermieter wohnen nebenan, haben uns sehr herzlich empfangen und waren immer für Rückfragen erreichbar. Die Terrasse des Hauses war für Essen draußen bestens geeignet, der Pool schön und gut mit Liegen und Sonnenschirmen ausgestattet. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

A little piece of paradise!

Our group, a grandmother, daughter and granddaughter spent a week at Gijs and Karin’s larger gîte, Les Cèpes. We had chosen to stay at their property, Les Girolles, as we wanted a beautiful and peaceful place to recover from our long voyage from Canada and the resulting jet lag. We couldn’t have been luckier on all fronts. The gîte was a big, beautiful, sympathetically converted, terrifically outfitted barn. There is a BBQ terrace and outdoor eating area just off the side doors. A few feet away from there is the very tempting, big, beautiful (heated!) swimming pool, framed by tall and perfectly trimmed hedges. Beside a nearby bamboo grove , is also an outdoor ping-pong table and trampoline which we also enjoyed. During the day, all we heard was the sound of songbirds and by night, all we saw were stars. The owners’ free range chickens (who provided us with delicious eggs upon our arrival) added life and interest to the place. Best of all however, is the couple who have owned the property for over a dozen years. Everything is beautifully kept by them inside and out and they truly want to share Les Girolles, the place they found and fostered, with their guests. They are kind, generous, educated and interesting people who could not do enough for us during our stay. Our highlight was being invited by Karin to join her and her dog Maya mushroom picking in their nearby forest! She even brought my daughter and I two pairs of their own Wellington boots to borrow while on the hunt! One week went by too quickly and we decided before we even left that we will return next summer but this time for two weeks.

Séjour très réussi.

Nous avons passé une semaine de vacances à Grojelac en Octobre avec nos enfants et notre chienne. L'endroit est absolument magnifique et romantique: la vue sur la forêt et la Dordogne, les collines, le calme, la maison en pierre aménagée dans une ambiance champêtre, l'immense jardin. La propriété est située au calme mais elle est très bien située pour visiter Sarlat, Domme, les grottes (Lascaux et autres), Rocamadour... Les hôtes sont à l'écoute et très accueillant. Nous recommandons vivement l'endroit.

Ein Traumhaus

Wir waren 1 Woche mit der Familie in dem zauberhaften Haus. Der Ort hat sehr viel Charme und viel zu bieten. Der Pool ist das Highlight für die ganze Familie. Wir würden von den Gastgebern sehr freundlich und unkompliziert aufgenommen. Insgesamt fühlte man sich schnell heimisch. Danke für die schönen Tage!

Groléjac in February

This is a wonderful property in the midst of a gorgeous landscape. The house is spacey, has a terrace with grill, a garden, access to swing, pool, and large trampoline (the latter two will be operational in a couple of weeks). It is also equipped with modern kitchen and TV/DVD equipment (and plenty of channels to chose from). The owners are super helpful and provided us with mountain bikes (free of charge), which was great fun for the whole family (including two teenager girls). They thought of every necessity to explore the beautiful environment. Finally, we were able to bring along our cat, which posed no issues. Highly recommended and definitely a come-back place!!!

Superbe séjour à Lagrenie

Nous avons passé un très agréable séjour à Lagrenie. Le lieu est superbe avec plein d'activités pour les enfants : balançoire, trampoline, piscine, Duplo ;) La piscine est très agréable. Le gîte est bien aménagé avec les chambres au rez de jardin qui restent fraîched malgré les fortes chaleurs ! Nous recommandons fortement cette location :)

Un très bon séjour dans un cadre magnifique !

Merci Karin et Gils pour cet excellent séjour que nous avons passé dans votre propriété ! Nous avons particulièrement apprécié le charme de cette belle maison en vieilles pierres, les alentours si bien entretenus avec de nombreux endroits cosy où se poser et le calme de la nature sauvage et belle qui nous entourait. We, Karin and Gijs are a Dutch couple in our fifties. We moved to France two years ago to fulfill our dream. Since then we are almost fully booked from April through September and we are very proud of the reviews we have received. Karin takes care of the houses and gardens, Gijs is a writer and board room consultant and facilitates business retreats.

Why they chose this property

We have dreamt all our lives of offering a quiet, inspiring place to people to relax, be happy and rebalanced from the pressures of society. We found Lagrenie in 2010 and we have turned it into something unique: the authenticity of a medieval domaine with all modern comfort you could wish. Lagrenie is surrounded by woods an has views over the river, but is very close to all famous castles, markets and villages of the Dordogne.
