The Space:

Welcome to your Serenity in the Woods! When you arrive here, you will experience ultimate tranquility in this updated rustic charmer located on a quiet, woodsy street in one of Tahoe’s finest neighborhoods. The owners live just down the hill and love coming up to make updates to their home for their guests. You will feel the pride of ownership right when you walk in.



BEDROOMS

Downstairs there is 1 bedroom - a queen bed and then a full bathroom to share. Upstairs you will find 2 additional bedrooms, one with a King bed and the other with 2 twin beds. There is another full bathroom up there.



LOCATION

This home is located in a very local and serene neighborhood - just a short 7 min drive into town where you will find Raley’s, South Shore Brewing, Emerald Bay Bar and Grill, Aleworx, Cocktail Corner, Bevmo, TJMaxx and more! You will be 25 mins to Heavenly Ski Resort, 15 mins to Sierra-at-Tahoe, 45 mins to Kirkwood, 25 mins to the casino fun and 15 mins to beautiful Lake Tahoe!

TAHOE RENTAL ORDINANCE

The following laws were set forth by the county and apply to every home in Tahoe. They were put in place to keep Lake Tahoe an enjoyable and safe place to visit for years to come! :)

1. The hot tub cannot be used after 10pm (if this home has one)

2. 10pm - 8am is the county quiet time for all rentals.

3. Trash cannot be left outside and must go into the bear box.

4. We cannot host extra people or allow parties.

5. We cannot accomodate extra cars, parking on the street or dirt.

PLEASE NOTE: Neighbors may alert the police who will issue fines to guests found to be in violation. In order to protect this owner’s permit, we reserve the right to ask guests to leave if this happens.



ELECTRIFIED BEAR MAT

There is an electrified bear mat in front of the back sliding door. This is a common thing to have in Tahoe to keep bears away. Although it’s not dangerous, it can be slightly painful if stepped on with bare feet or socks. You will not be shocked if stepped on with shoes. You may turn it off when you are home by unplugging it outside or you can keep it on during your stay just make sure everyone in your party knows to wear shoes and to not touch it with bare feet, hands or socks. Small children should not be left alone on the deck. Again, it’s not dangerous but it doesn’t feel good. Contact us if you have any questions.



ROOF SNOW SHED

The roof sheds (drops) all of it’s ice and snow periodically onto the front and back deck/walkways. We do our best to shovel and mitigate this before you arrive but sometimes it happens while a guest is here or right before arrival so you may arrive to some snow and ice that has freshly dropped. You can either shovel it out of the way or text our local team for us to come shovel it. Please do not walk or climb over it. This will turn it into a huge ice mound and be very hard to remove. If you have arrived and this has already happened, apologies! If it’s a heavy Winter, we might not be able to get it all out of the way so some of it might need to be walked over. During the historic Winter of 2022/2023 - an ice mound was created which had to be climbed over. This should only happen during very heavy snow years.



Interaction with Guests:

You will check in by going right to the home using our keyless entry system. Your door code is the last 4 digits of your booking phone number followed by the check mark button that will activate at 4pm. Make sure to pull the door toward you when you put the code in to ensure the deadbolt is aligned. We have a 24 hour customer care team and a local team available during business hours.

Convenient location in the Meyers community for a short drive to the lake/beach, as well as trails for hiking and biking. Also a short drive to the slopes, restaurants, and shopping. Cozy living area w/fireplace and well stocked kitchen re pots/pans and dinnerware. Large backyard and overall quiet area.

Great stay!

We were in Tahoe for a wedding, and this place was the perfect size and location for two couples to share! It was clean and comfortable, and the welcome package was really nice. The property management checked in via text while we were there and were very communicative. Overall, it was a great stay!

House was great and very clean and accommodating for our family. Check in process was a little longer with having to sign some additional forms prior to getting check in info. However, once complete had the check in details in 10 minutes. Recommend this property for other families visiting Tahoe.

Sweet and cozy spot!

Everything was very comfortable, the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked, and overall it was a fantastic place to stay!I wish I’d known in advance that there was a hot tub and extra beds, as I would have brought a bathing suit more friends on the ski trip, but on the whole, I am very happy with the accommodations!

Hope to stay again

The house is adorable and has all the amenities. Lots to keep us busy with games, etc. Jacuzzi was nice and so was the ping pong. Everyone had their own space to sleep. A little bit from town but not too bad. Would love to stay here again.

Long weekend at Heavenly

We made this reservation sort of last minute for busy Presidents Weekend. The house was fine. Beds were super comfy. Kitchen is nice but the pots and pans were super old, so not appealing for cooking. The "rec room" is actually the garage which was freezing cold so basically unusable in the winter. The hot tub was nice to use, but also hard to get the cover on and off and to trudge through the snow. Overall, a fine trip, but probably wont stay here again.

We felt spied on/watched very uncomfortable!

We felt as if we where being watched and It Was very hard to enjoy the trip as the owner texted an called EVERY day ALL day for Every little thing. If your looking to enjoy the weekend peacefully this is NOT the location. Was very annoyed 😒 I will never return an I wouldnt recommend it anyone. These people shouldn't rent the house out in my opinion.

Perfect house for quick getaway!

We stayed at this property the weekend of the Valhalla Renaissance Fair. We had to contact the property manager because the code wasn't working. But he responded quickly and got us into with another code. Once inside the house was SO cute! There was an awesome gift bag full of little goodies and a personalized card that the owners left us. I truly appreciate their thoughtfulness! The highlights of this rental are the garage which is full of things to do. We played ping pong, shot darts and played shuffle board. The hot tub was huge! The kitchen was beautiful! Fully remodeled with a Keurig Coffee Maker! There is no primary bathroom upstairs. But the bathroom you share with the other bedroom is big and very nicely updated. The floors do creak quite a bit but that's to be expected with the age of the home. The skylight was a nice touch in the primary bedroom. You could see all the stars at night. We did have to contact the property manager several times for little things. But they responded quickly and sent people out to fix the issues. We definitely would stay here again! It's quiet and still fairly close to all the action in South Lake Tahoe!

Worst VRBO experience

The house itself is great...clean, has everything you need. Unfortunately that’s the only positive about the house; turnkey has poorly managed this place. We had grave concerns after a stranger walked onto the property and was aggressive about turning off the propane grill our first night in the house (although it was allowed since it was not a red flag day, then proceeded to call the cops. When the sheriffs arrived at 9:20pm, they stated they had to check out the complaint, although quiet time and the outdoor hot tub is allowed till 10pm and to make sure to go inside by then. The next day management sent out two men unannounced to the house and proceeded to take away the propane tanks. The two strangers had access to our house, no forms of ID, and when turnkey was called, there was no information regarding this request and had to investigate who put the request in and how come I was never notified. After spending 3 hours on the phone, there was a resolution. DO NOT stay at this property unless you want to be hassled by management, neighbors and whoever else doesn’t want VRBO apart of this neighborhood.

Unfortunate Stay

I have to be very very honest! My family and I were looking forward to spend time in Tahoe and get away from the busy work life in the city. We checked in a day late and came to a home that was very hot. I had to rely on the fans and open windows to kind of keep it clean. Furthermore, when we finally got ready to go to bed, I discovered the sheets to the main bed contained an oily substance (possibly baby oil). My wife was very grossed out and asked to check the kids beds… we discovered the two other beds were also dirty. One bed had someone’s hair while the other bed had someone’s old dirty socks. This tells me that the bedding had not been washed. The walls in the rooms had stains and the home had cob webs in various areas. I notified management asap. We stayed up until 2am waiting on the wife to wash the sheets for all beds. Management attended to the issue and provided new sheets and refunded a little more than the cleaning fees as a kind gesture. In this day and age, the rental properties need to be in tip top shape and the owners need to know that hygiene is very important especially with COVID. It is not right for a guest to arrive a day late and still come to find that the sheets are dirty and have to stay up till 2am washing the sheets or hair and socks that do not belong to you! It is just unacceptable! The cob webs… it doesn’t take but only a few seconds to wipe those off with the broom. If there were cob webs that tells me the the cleaning crew hasn’t been doing their job! The home had a lot of potential and things for the kids to enjoy but far it was far from enjoyable because of how dirty is was. I instructed the wife not to do the beds so the cleaning crew could come and really wash the sheets and do the bed for the next guest.

Wonderful home, neighbors on high alert

The home is wonderful, as advertised with plenty of room and nice features. The neighbors were watching our every move and were not afraid to call the police about a noise complaint. Beautiful home, just be weary of the neighbors.

Peaceful

The family really enjoyed our first trip to Tahoe. Serenity Woods was a great place to come back to after activities and long days out. I was a little worried about noise complaints as my children can get a little loud at times but we had no issues during our stay. The house has a cozy cabin feel to it and had everything we needed. We all enjoyed playing ping pong in the garage/game room and will likely be purchasing a table for ourselves at home. If you are looking for a vacation home in a peaceful setting away from the casino hustle and bustle I would highly recommend you give it a try.

Great family vacation home

We had a great time staying at this house. From the house amenities (ping pong!) to morning coffee on the back deck surrounded by trees and watching chipmunks scamper, it was perfect. There was everything we needed and more. Our only issues were bonking our heads on the slanted roof upstairs and that it is located a good distance from downtown. On the other hand, it's pretty near Pope, Kiva, and Baldwin Beaches. And it's blissfully quiet. We'd definitely consider staying again!

Perfect Hide Out

Quiet and comfortable home. This was exactly the right intersection between homey and luxury for us, and seemed to have thought of everything we might need. We all are ready to come back!

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, we were happy and had a great trip. Everything was great except the gas gill was dirty and out of propane (as was the fire pit propane). The issue was resolved within 24 hours after a few phone calls. A man came out to clean the grill and change the tanks. He did a very thorough job and the company called to follow up to make sure it was taken care of.

Great family spot

We were looking for a place where we could entertain ourselves for a week and this place was perfect for it. We had plenty of space for the 4 of us, we used just about all the entertainment options, with the ping pong table, shuffleboard, horse shoes, ring toss, cornhole, and multiple uses of the hot tub. We toasted smores over the fire pit, laid out on the upper deck to watch for shooting stars during the meteor shower, played video games in the upstairs bedroom, although the Wii wouldn't work for us, we were able to hook a Switch up to it easily enough. We watched Netflix and DVDs we brought in the family room, and played plenty of board games that we had brought up with us, although a couple that were at the house looked interesting as well. It was a short drive to town to get food and there were lots of options available there. The neighborhood was nice to walk in and was right up against a national forest that was nice to hike in.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING

The moment you walk into the home you are blasted with warning signs about $1000 fines for "excessive" noise and telling you to BE QUIET after 6PM. No one likes obnoxious neighbors, especially in a rental I get it. But no where in the ad at time of booking does it say anything about fines (I called turnkey when I saw the signs and they also confirmed all it said was "sound sensitive"). We even double checked the ad to make sure we didn't miss something (now the page clearly has been updated to reflect some but not all fines). 3 of us were sitting around the firepit in the backyard talking, no music, no yelling, nothing "excessive". The sheriff showed up and you can put two and two together. Also you cannot use the hot tub from 10PM-8AM or you guessed it, another $1k fine. Who wants to hot tub in July before 10PM? Also cannot park in the street or off the driveway, another 1k fine. After doing research, yes the fines are laid out on the LAST PAGE of the 18 page rental agreement. Yes it is my fault for not reading every page. But I do find it shady/deceiving sticking the most important part on the last page of a document, Instead of being transparent and laying it out in the ad. Every rental place asks you to be quiet, and be courteous neighbors. Technically the ad still doesn't list all the fines, even with the update! The house itself is made to look secluded which is not the case. The inside is as advertised. Really nice kitchen, upstairs bathroom is nice, king bed is comfy. We had 8 people and had to to use dirty towels all weekend unless we wanted to do laundry. The house only had 2 rolls of TP. We didn't dare use the game room because the sheriff told us he had to give a ticket to a VHR because they were playing air hockey inside but with the windows open which was too loud for the neighborhood. The house has no AC (which it doesn't need it) but you need the windows open during the day for air flow. So at this point, you can't be "loud" in your own home either. All of the fines by the way, don't apply to residents. Our neighbors had loud music but didn't matter. I just field duped. We came to Tahoe in 2014 & had a great time. Beautiful place. But had I been properly informed before arriving, we wouldn't of booked in Tahoe (which by reading city council meetings is what they want, trying to get rid of VHRs through fines). Again the house is nice & well taken care of just dont go if you plan on spending much time in the yard. Not worth it.
