Step back in time in our family Nags Head cottage. Situated on a quiet stretch of beach, the ocean is steps away. Much along our strip of sand remains unchanged over the past 100 years when you look out front to the ocean. The beach is never crowded, never loud and you feel like you have a private beach. Our house was built in 1928 and although we have made updates along the way, you will enjoy a quiet get away here whether playing board games or rocking on the porch which wraps around 3 sides of the house. Join our family in making your memories here. Please note that rentals run Friday- Friday.

This beach house was perfect! My family & I absolutely loved it & had an amazing time! It was our favorite place & beach by far! We are definitely planning on going back for the summers to come! Also, Katherine is very nice and friendly, she responded to all of my messages promptly and even gave me her number for any questions or concerns. It was a pleasure to speak with her and stay in her home

About the host
Hosted by Katherine Kerns
I grew up in NC and spent my summers in this house. Though I now live in Virginia, I cherish any time I get to spend at Nags Head. We have rented our house privately for over 60 years and to this day have 30+ year renters. Their children are now becoming renters on their own! We love this house and this special historic area and feel blessed that we can share it with others.
Why they chose this property
Much of Nags Head has developed over the years but our little strip of houses remains as it did 100 years ago. My great great grandparents first built on the beach and we love that every generation since has been able to enjoy many traditions, 3 swims a day, coffee and cocktails on the porch, leisurely dinners on screened eating porch. While there were no restaurants around when I was growing up, we are fortunate to be able to walk to a number of good ones and Jockey’s Ridge is a short walk away.
What makes this property unique
We have tried to maintain the historic nature of our cottage but also strive to make it a comfortable place to stay. The wing of the house has central heating and AC. The bedrooms in the main house each have window AC units. The kitchen is very up to date and brimming with dishes and cookware (we love our times around the table!). There are two indoor showers but we usually shower under the house where there is a his and hers enclosed outdoor shower.
