Knot Just Fishin: A beautiful cottage on Dauphin Island, where memories are made
Summary:
Welcome to Knot Just Fishin, a beautifully renovated 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom beach house, ideal for families looking for a serene island retreat. The name reflects our dream of creating unforgettable memories here. While we love fishing every day, the moments shared with family and friends are what truly matter to us. Relax on our spacious patio or enjoy the coastal breeze from the screened-in front porch. Nestled among the pines of Dauphin Island, you're just moments away from beaches, fresh seafood, and local attractions. Discover the best of Dauphin Island at this stunning getaway!
The Space:
Situated on the East End of Dauphin Island, Knot Just Fishin is the ideal spot to create lasting memories with family and friends. Just a short walk from Buchanan Bay, it offers easy access to Forney Johnston Beach Park, perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, and swimming.
Guest Access:
The entire upstairs of our home, featuring free Wi-Fi, screened-in front porch, and a spacious downstairs patio, is yours to enjoy! The downstairs room, reserved for our personal belongings, will remain locked. Nestled in one of the island's most tranquil areas, you'll discover why Dauphin Island is the best kept secret on the Coast!
The Neighborhood:
The 164-acre Audubon Bird Sanctuary is just a 15-minute walk from Knot Just Fishin on Forney Johnston. This sanctuary is a popular spot for birdwatchers, offering sightings of hundreds of species, including herons and pelicans. Visitors can take a walking tour through the palmetto palms to experience the island's lush native flora and fauna.
The Mobile Bay Ferry, located just around the corner from the bird sanctuary, is only a mile from Knot Just Fishin. Departing every hour and a half during the day, the ferry transports passengers to the historic Fort Morgan in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Nearby, there's a popular boat launch where anglers can launch their boats from sunrise to sundown.
Within two miles of the property, you'll find the Dauphin Island Estuarium, home to over 100 species of native Alabama marine life, and the historic Fort Gaines, offering guided tours of the 1821 fort that protected Mobile Bay during the Civil War. Dauphin Island boasts three public beaches: East End Public Beach, Bienville Beach, and West End Public Beach. The closest beach access to Knot Just Fishin is East End Beach, just over a mile away past Fort Gaines (a 6-minute drive).
With nearly a dozen restaurants and snack bars on the island, there's no shortage of local fare and fresh seafood. Menus feature the freshest seafood in the South, including snapper, grouper, oysters, and crab. During the summer, outdoor movies are shown on the West End of the island, and the Dauphin Island Fishing Rodeo in July attracts over 75,000 spectators for a weekend of fun and sports fishing.
Despite its small size (14 miles long and less than 2 miles wide in some areas), the island offers endless activities for vacationers, including an 18-hole golf course and various water activities. Boat, jet ski, stand-up paddleboard, and kayak rentals are available, along with sunset cruises and beach access to most of the 17 miles of powdery white sand beaches that wrap around the island. These offerings, along with deep-sea fishing and diving, make this Gulf Coast sanctuary a top destination for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the gulf.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Knot Just Fishin and have a wonderful time exploring the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast!
Getting Around:
Thanks to its prime location on the East End, guests can quickly drive, bike, or walk to nearby attractions and restaurants. While public transportation isn't available, the island boasts miles of walking and biking trails, making it easy to explore.
