Sunflower/Mushroom Farmhouse just 6 minutes from Lawrence
"Wakarusa Valley Farm"
Come stay amongst the blooming sunflowers and nibble on exotic mushrooms and vegetables on this working family-run mushroom and vegetable farm. Each year we grow three acres of sunflowers on our 30 acres farm that bloom from mid-July to mid-October. Enjoy the serene and peaceful park-like setting.
The farm is located on the Washington Creek and is frequented by songbirds, falcons and eagles. Deer are a common site as well as turkeys. You are encouraged to eat from the garden and sample the mushrooms. Peruse the flower gardens and enjoy being one with nature.
The single-level farmhouse features lots of windows and is bathed in the shade by large trees that I planted myself 35 years ago. The house has hardwood floors and a new kitchen and is freshly painted. New to the rental market.
Recreational opportunities include being located 3 miles south of Clinton Dam and 10 minutes from Lone Star Lake which features some of the best swimming, paddleboard and kayaking in Kansas.

This was a great place to stay. It was very remote but easy to get to. We loved it. The peacefulness in the morning was so nice. There is also a very sweet little kitty that came to tell us hello. Would definitely stay again!!!
Came in August. The house was clean and inviting with open feel to nature. Beautiful surroundings of trees and gardens. Tree-shaded deck was nice! A very pleasant stay!
This was absolutely the nicest vacation rental that we have ever stayed in. Great kitchen, comfortable beds, nice living room, and beautiful setting. Next time in Lawrence we will definitely stay here again.
Very quiet and close to the University. My daughter had a college visit as well as a dance competition at the university. The distance from the campus to the farmhouse was perfect for us. I feel we would stay there again if it was available.
Off the beaten path, quite, peaceful and CLEAN. The amenities were more than perfect for my wife and I, and would be great for a party of 4-6. Three beds and what looked like a fold out couch but, don't quote me on the fold out part, I'm not 100% sure. Do however quote me that the master bedroom was more than welcoming, bed was soft and comfortable and this is the kind of place where you can really find peace and tranquility. Definitely space to reconnect with your favorite person, my wife and I are looking forward to another stay. The hospitality was warm and unobtrusive, we can most definitely recommend a stay here. Bring you favorite coffee ingredients, there is a Keurig there with a basic selection, full, spotless kitchen, a modern, clean refrigerator, electric range, no outdoor grill. Just one note, the master toilet is a powerhouse so don't be startled!
The sunflower mushroom house is very cozy and quaint in a pretty country setting. The drive from town is more like 20min with the stoplights and roads to get there but it was just fine for us coming for KU graduation. The parking is interesting it would be nice for the driveway to extend to the actual rental home and not stop in front of the run down home in front of the rental. Overall we would recommend the home for your trip to Lawrence
The Sunflower/Mushroom Farmhouse is a very cute and cozy place for a peaceful getaway. The host, Mark was very accommodating and hospitable. We went morel mushroom hunting and Mark met us at the home to guide us in the right direction on our hunt. He was very kind and helpful. The house is so cute and the farm is very picturesque. I love that they offer their garden crops to guests. We came early and there weren't any full grown crops yet, but we definitely want to come back to enjoy the space and farm in the summer months! 10/10!
