Sunflower/Mushroom Farmhouse just 6 minutes from Lawrence
"Wakarusa Valley Farm"
Come stay amongst the blooming sunflowers and nibble on exotic mushrooms and vegetables on this working family-run mushroom and vegetable farm. Each year we grow three acres of sunflowers on our 30 acres farm that bloom from mid-July to mid-October. Enjoy the serene and peaceful park-like setting.
The farm is located on the Washington Creek and is frequented by songbirds, falcons and eagles. Deer are a common site as well as turkeys. You are encouraged to eat from the garden and sample the mushrooms. Peruse the flower gardens and enjoy being one with nature.
The single-level farmhouse features lots of windows and is bathed in the shade by large trees that I planted myself 35 years ago. The house has hardwood floors and a new kitchen and is freshly painted. New to the rental market.
Recreational opportunities include being located 3 miles south of Clinton Dam and 10 minutes from Lone Star Lake which features some of the best swimming, paddleboard and kayaking in Kansas.

The house was a great place for us to spend a night while visiting our son in college. It was very quiet and peaceful and had everything we needed for our stay!
Absolutely loved it here, it was so hard to leave! Felt like I was on a retreat. Absolutely beautiful place. The feel of being far away, but yet, you’re actually very close to the main shopping area & KU campus.
A great, comfy, clean space in a quaint setting. A little further from KU than expected, especially with traffic. A great place to stay if you don’t mind a 20 minute drive from KU campus.
Our family had a lovely, though quick, stay at Wakarusa Farm. The house was equipped with everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the entire place was clean and cozy. Our host also made sure the house was warm for us upon arrival, which was much appreciated. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to enjoy the outdoor space due to the freezing cold and brutal winds, but we’d love to come back when the weather is nicer and fully enjoy everything the property has to offer.
Lots of butterfly's and birds. Very peaceful location.

It was great! Clean and humble. The house was just right for the stay but a bit outside of Lawrence making three different directions on the phone gave for the return after dark. There was not paper towels but had some so didn’t need to make a trip. That’s about all that can be said negative but it worked out right for what was needed. Thank you!
This was a great place to stay. It was very remote but easy to get to. We loved it. The peacefulness in the morning was so nice. There is also a very sweet little kitty that came to tell us hello. Would definitely stay again!!!
This was absolutely the nicest vacation rental that we have ever stayed in. Great kitchen, comfortable beds, nice living room, and beautiful setting. Next time in Lawrence we will definitely stay here again.
Came in August. The house was clean and inviting with open feel to nature. Beautiful surroundings of trees and gardens. Tree-shaded deck was nice! A very pleasant stay!
Very quiet and close to the University. My daughter had a college visit as well as a dance competition at the university. The distance from the campus to the farmhouse was perfect for us. I feel we would stay there again if it was available.

I wanted a peaceful, quiet weekend, and the farmhouse was that. The location was restful. The interior was tired and shabby. The furniture was garage sale standard, the appliances were old and inexpensive, the kitchen was ill-equipped, so I didn't want to cook. The outside surroundings were cluttered and unkempt. The windows needed a good cleaning, the leaves needed to be cleaned up, and the blowing plastic film around the buildings was unsightly.
