About this property
The Cactus House
A cozy and comfortable 1950's Bohemian gem near mid-town with living room, kitchen, dining room, and laundry.
It includes two bedrooms with Queen Beds: one is firmer and the other, softer. The couch in the living room does have a full size hide-a-bed mattress.
Kitchen appliances include microwave, dishwasher, stovetop with oven, full refrigerator with freezer, and garbage disposal. Small appliances include drip coffee maker, blender, crockpot, handmixer, citrus juicer, personal size waffle maker, and toaster. We also stock some pots and pans, measuring utensils, mixing bowls, etc for baking and cooking.
Backyard covered patio has outdoor lighting, table/chairs, and installed shade screens to block east and west sun for sitting outside any time of the day.
Front and backyards feature a variety of desert plants which include small barrel and young saguaro, 12' night blooming cereus, prickly pear, and organ pipe cacti as well as mesquite trees, creosote bush, aloe, ocotillo, agave, jojoba, and more.
We provide a Roku TV with assorted free channels and an antenna that picks up about 50 other channels, as well as a DVD/VCR player. You will find an assortment of games and jigsaw puzzles in the cabinet in the dining room, a variety of books in the bookcase, and an antique style desk by the south window in the living room.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Lou

Resident zip codes have found me living in 6 states, and 3 of them two times...perhaps I've some gypsy blood in me with the love of travel and new experiences. Regions are certainly cultural and I'm fascinated how climate and history play a big role in current cultural influence.
I've been successfully and happily hosting since 2019 on another site and have decided to broaden my horizons yet again.
I look forward to having you!

Why they chose this property
The older style house caught my eye and called my name...it's definitely not status quo nor gated. It sits on a corner in an older usually quiet neighborhood and features many varieties of native desert plants: small barrel and young saguaro, 12' night blooming cereus, prickly pear, and organ pipe cacti as well as mesquite trees, creosote bush, aloe, ocotillo, agave, jojoba, Mexican bird of paradise, and more! I love hearing the mourning doves coo and other birds sing, which is often part of the setting. It is a peaceful place as described by many guests in my other listing.
Inside charm includes arched openings going into the living room, ceiling beams, a sliding door into the patio... front dining area windows ceiling to floor, stained glass look in the bathroom, and Rogo style hardfloors. It's my Happy Place!

What makes this property unique
The 10-12' Peruvian Apple Cactus in the front yard blooms at night during season and then bears outer red thick walled pods with edible inner white-fleshed, black-seeded melon-like fruit.
