About this property
The Ole Dome - 5 minutes to the Grand Marias
Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Directly on the Pincushion Trail System (which links to the Superior Hiking Trail) you will find endless hiking options steps from your front door. The Ole dome is 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais where you can eat at amazing restaurants, hear great live music, enjoy time by Lake Superior, and explore beautifully curated local shops.
The dome is off-grid, with no heat or cooking supplies, so plan for an elevated camping experience!
A fun glamping experience, our domes offer a rustic stay with beautiful forest views outside your large window and a lovely private fire pit and eating space next to the dome. Inside you’ll find two twin beds (with the option to push them together to make a king bed). If you want to fit a few more, there's room on the floor for two smaller people (or kids) if you bring camp pads to sleep on.
Amenities provided:
-two pillows
-drinking water
-a kettle for boiling water
-a coffee pour over
-a fan
-a wash basin
-dish soap
-paper towels
-two mugs
-a cooler
-a bottle opener
-some games and books to enjoy
-cleaning supplies
-firewood for your firepit
The dome is a short hike (approx 300 feet) from the designated parking area and there is one parking spot designated for each dome. If you need a second parking spot please contact us to arrange this. We do provide a cart if needed to help carry your bags to the dome. We also provide firewood for the fire pit - the cart can come in handy to haul wood from where it is stored by the garage.
There is a clean and classy outhouse a short walk (approximately 10 feet) from the dome. If you desire a shower, we highly recommend the YMCA in town (a 5 minute drive). You can get a day pass for $12 to use their complete facilities. You can also get a $4 shower at the Grand Marais Rec Park.
This is a self- clean dome, which means that you don’t need to pay a cleaning fee! Instead we ask that you pay it forward by tidying up before you leave for the next guests.
There are no linens provided at the dome, so plan to pack these for your stay (pillowcases and either two twin sheets or a king sheet). We recommend warm sleeping bags or blankets especially in the cooler months of May, June, September, and October. It can get chilly at night anytime of year so bring layers if uncertain what bedding to pack.
We provide drinking water for use during your stay- bring some water bottles to fill at the dispenser and bring to your dome. Bring a camp stove if you’d like to cook at the dome...otherwise you are 5 minutes away from amazing restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries if you want to treat yourself in Grand Marais. We ask that you store food in a cooler in your car to prevent attracting animals to the dome.
There is electricity in the dome that can accommodate the basics- light for the dome, boiling water in the kettle, the fan, and chargers for your phone. There is cell phone coverage at the dome for most major cell phone providers but no wifi service.
Please contact us for any non urgent questions or concerns prior to your stay. For more immediate needs during your stay, please text or call our property manager (phone number is in the manual/binder located in the dome)
There are other rentals on the property so please be respectful of the privacy of other guests and keep volumes down between 10pm and 8am.
