About the host

I first came to Alaska as a toddler when my family homesteaded near Tok, and although we left for a time, I returned at 15 and have called Alaska home ever since. Gordon was born and raised here, and together, we share a deep love for this incredible state. We feel fortunate to live in such a peaceful and beautiful place, and we enjoy opening our homes to others so they can experience the serenity and natural wonder that make Anchor Point so special. Our two vacation homes reflect the heart of this area—and we’re honored to share them with guests from near and far.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood for its peaceful setting, stunning views, and its perfect balance of country charm with close proximity to Homer. Just a short drive away, it offers the quiet we love while still keeping us near the conveniences of town. The neighborhood has a wonderful, down-to-earth feel—families, kids, and friendly neighbors with horses, chickens, rabbits, and dogs all add to the sense of community. While we do have neighbors, each home sits on generous acreage (approximately 8 acres), so you’ll enjoy plenty of space and privacy—it’s not a subdivision with homes close together. It’s a place where you can truly relax and feel at home.
What makes this property unique
Our Timber frame Retreat is a one-of-a-kind blend of craftsmanship, comfort, and Alaskan character. The home’s stunning timber construction creates a warm, rustic atmosphere while showcasing the artistry of exposed beams and vaulted ceilings. Thoughtfully decorated with a mix of local history, native art, and boho charm, the space feels both inviting and inspiring.
Guests often say it’s the little touches — like the cozy upstairs library with a foosball table, kid’s nook, and turret seating area with breathtaking views—that truly set our retreat apart. Outside, you’ll find a peaceful garden seating area with a rustic waterfall crafted from shovel heads once used by my father on his property, adding a meaningful and unique touch.
The expansive yard offers plenty of space to relax and play, featuring a cozy fire pit area—perfect for gathering with family and friends, roasting marshmallows, or enjoying a glass of wine under the stars—along with games like cornhole and a fun, family-friendly hatchet throwing game (using rubber hatchets and a durable bristle target). Whether you’re sitting on the deck enjoying a good book, visiting with friends and family, or simply taking in the surrounding nature, the setting invites you to slow down and unwind.
For those who enjoy staying active, we offer handheld weights, yoga mats, an elliptical machine, and a treadmill. For fishing and outdoor enthusiasts, we provide a selection of rubber boots to borrow, along with fishing poles, a cooler, and a picnic basket to make your adventures even more enjoyable.
Surrounded by nature, with room to roam and opportunities to spot wildlife like moose or cranes, it’s the perfect blend of peaceful escape and authentic Alaskan experience.
