About this property

Genuine Maine Coast Cottage Experience - Stunning views of Penobscot Bay

Breezing Up is a comfortable original 100+ year old cottage. This lovely, traditional cedar shingled property overlooks Rockland Harbor and Penobscot Bay. Awe inspiring sunrises over the ocean to the east and gorgeous sunsets in the west. Sleeps up to 7 in airy open bedrooms. Summer season only, as this is an uninsulated classic wood cottage with no central heat or A/C, but its hilltop location lends itself to cool breezes when needed. Convenient to nearby beaches, shopping, art galleries, museums, hiking, boating, fine dining, and all that mid-coast Maine has to offer.
Spend time in the rocking chairs on the front porch, gazing over the harbor enjoying a meal or drink with family and friends.
Enjoy a nice tub or the outdoor shower (hot and cold water), but no long showers as this original structure supports only a 20 gal. hot water heater. Small but fully functional kitchen lends itself to home cooked meals, or boiling your own lobster dinner.

Our family has owned this cottage property for over 60 years. Generations of us have enjoyed the natural beauty and cultural resources of the area. From boating and fishing, to walking the lovely nearby ocean beaches we take full advantage of the resources available in the mid-coast area.

The Breezing Up property is located in a beautiful wooded neighborhood with other long-time cottages nearby.

Why they chose this property

The hilltop location for this property lends itself to outstanding views of Penobscot Bay and Rockland harbor. Watching the Schooners come and go and the Island ferries shuttling in and out of the harbor provide regular entertainment. Commercial fishing and recreational boater activity are almost always present.
Though the property is quiet and surrounded by nature, it lends itself with easy access to the nearby communities of Rockland and Thomaston for convenient shopping and dining.

Area attractions feature beaches for; swimming, picnicking walking, or simply enjoying a good read. Nearby access to Birch Point Beach State Park, Crockett's Beach, Crescent Beach and the Owls Head Lighthouse Beach in Owls Head. Sandy Beach Park in Rockland is also easily reached with a unique view of the busy inner Rockland Harbor.

Beautiful hikes are available throughout the area including Camden Hills State Park, Mt. Megunticook, Ragged Mountain, Beech Hill, and numerous other nearby hiking paths.

The Maine State Ferry Service, in Rockland, provides ready ferry access to the nearby islands of Vinalhaven and North Haven. This can present an interesting day-trip. In addition, there is a private ferry located in nearby Port Clyde that serves Monhegan Island a popular spot for birders and artists.

The Farnsworth Art Gallery features an outstanding collection of Andrew Wyeth's works and other well-known Maine artists. Others include: Owls Head Transportation Museum with an outstanding collection of historic working aircraft and automobiles and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockland.

What makes this property unique

The original structure of this 1912 cottage is still in place. Check out the wavy glass in some of the original windows. Located on the highest point of Ingraham's Hill, the property features some of the most expansive views available in the area.

Despite it's quiet surroundings, it is close to the shopping districts of Rockland and Thomaston, and many cultural resources and venues providing entertainment and educational opportunities in the arts.

The area features easy access to numerous outdoor activities involving the water (including ocean, river and lake access), hiking, boating, sailing and fishing.
