All was good- but some issues with cleanliness of shower, coffee maker and microwave- and exhaust filters in bathrooms- but decor, location to beach and activities - perfect. Would have loved two shower/tub set ups...main floor bathroom was a jacuzzi tub and jets were moldy.
House is beautiful and so convenient to beach
Only thing that needs to be updated on site is there is no free standing shower except for one outside so it’s not easy for older people
House is decorated beautifully but too many breakables
We had to remove everything and put in bedroom that wasn’t used
But we still enjoyed the week
We enjoyed the house. The porch is nice in the mornings to watch the sun come up. The cookware needs to be updated. Our food kept sticking to the pans even with grease and butter. This caused us to eat out more than we planned. We let Bullard Realty know about the pans, and they said they appreciated me telling them. Other than that it was a nice stay.
If you go eat, shop, or go to the boardwalk on Carolina Beach, be prepared to pay for parking just about everywhere you go. $25 a day to go to the board walk or $6 an hour.
Big plus to be across the street from a beach entrance. While that street is busy, a cross walk with traffic indicator made crossing quite easy. While the outdoor shower is not hooked up and the owner mentioned it was a “honey do” item that doesn’t get done, hoses they had attached to a spigot in that space worked for rinsing sand off feet and toys. While there are two full baths, the one that the two bedrooms on the main floor share with the main gathering space of the house has a jetted tub instead of a shower and the one for off of the upstairs bedroom is a traditional shower and bath combo. While the upstairs bedroom does not have a door, the stairwell turns in a way that allows for visual privacy from downstairs. Outside, the four front deck rocking chairs make for a nice sitting area rain or shine and provide glimpses of the beach/ocean between houses on the other side. You also can see your family coming home from the beach from that. While below that deck is another seating area we could use, many people cut through the front yard of the property on foot or by bike since it is a corner lot, so we didn’t use it much beyond when loading and unloading or storing our beach items. While you do make your own beds when you arrive and take them apart again when you leave, the linen service leaves two bags with one set of linens per bed, one kitchen dish cloth and towel, and one bath set (bath sheet, hand towel, washcloth) per person possible. Great to have washer and dryer on site if some needed a refresh. The kitchen is stocked well and we easily walked to dine-in and take-out options. Check out The Veggie Wagon…way more than the veggies can brought home from there! Butts and Such had great casual BBQ. Havana Restaurant had delicious more upscale yet still casual dining.
Space ok for the two of us, our daughter-in-law, her parents, and two lab mix fur babies Thurs evening to Sun morning. While there are more beds, I’d say six adults max for sharing the space together between only having one shower and how the main space was set up (six places at dining table and six places to sit in living room). If we had stayed longer or the weather kept us inside longer, it probably would have been a bit too cozy for the five of us. That said, we had a great time laughing at the logistics of working around and with each other, and it helped us to get to know each other more.
Owner and realtors representing the place are all friendly and non-intrusive.
