Great place to stay, neighbors are nice and friendly too. My only complaint is the cleaning fee; we always leave a home cleaner than we find it - maybe everyone doesn't do that, but we do and the fee is non-negotiable. Other than that, I highly recommend the home for a visit, the kayaks were wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the water! The realtors that handled the keys and welcome package were very nice and helpful as well.

Hi Elizebeth,
Thank you for your review. I’m pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hopefully you’ll return sometime.
Sorry about the cleaning fee, but not everyone leaves the house how we would like and it’s a large house to clean and the fee is dictated to us by the cleaner. We don’t make any profit out of the cleaning.
Best wishes,
Bill.

Lovely house but no air conditioning
This house was very nice and its situation on Joseph Pond was lovely. The two lower level bedrooms were very warm though, even with fans going full time. It was hard to sleep. The house has many great amenities - a large dining table, many beds, 3 bathrooms, a great deck and an outdoor seating area off the lower level too, kayaks, swimming dock, pool table, a walking trail near by, a nice grill and a beautiful living room. One other recommendation would be to trim the bushes out front. It is very hard to pull out safely on the road with the overgrown bushes. The rental agency was very helpful.

Thank you Helen for your kind and fair review.
We do have a landscaping company maintain the front yard and I will make sure they trim the bushes back, to make driving into and off the property safe for guests. Very little traffic uses to road past the house, but I agree that they could be cut back for better visibility.
Best wishes,
Bill.
Both adults and children find swimming in the lake better than the ocean and when we want the ocean it is only a short ride away. The house has lots of space; lots of bed rooms and bathrooms and an excellent kitchen. A very pleasant stay.
This house was clean and provided plenty of space room for 4 couples and 3 children, with room to spare! With the pond, kayaks, ping pong table and bikes provided there was something for everyone to stay entertained. Close to multiple different beaches and a variety of restaurants. We will be booking again if we come back to East Harwich. Thank you!
Perfect house for our family with 3 young children, separate sleeping areas from kitchen and living area. Very clean and lovely swimming in the pond. We had a great time!
Great location, the kids has a great time in the lake.

Good location and view of pond
Home was in good location and view of pond was wonderful. Problem with TV in living room was resolved quickly by employee of Cape Cod Realtors. Problem with intermittent loss of signal on TV in basement which was reported as possibly due to open cable box on side of house. The days we were there were very hot with 96-99% humidity, no A/C and very uncomfortable inside. Would recommend installing whole house humidifier to reduce humidity and musty smell inside home.

Hi Shirley,
Thanks for your review. I hope you enjoyed your stay at the house.
There is a built in dehumidifier that serves all the lower ground floor rooms, but we found that someone had turned it off at the fuse-board. We have recitified this now.
Thank you.

Almost perfect
Stunningly beautiful home. Nice location. Convenient access to pond. Plenty of beds and seating and space for everyone. Main floor bedrooms are essentially in their own wing and with fans on for noise and air circulation you can’t hear anything going on in main area of house. (However bathroom is across hall from main floor bedrooms but it wasn’t an issue as long as people are polite and use it quietly).
Living room has lots of windows and gets decent ventilation and cross breezes.
A few things I wish I had known:
-due to a wet winter, the beach area shown in backyard was non-existent, so don’t count on that being available. It went from steps to water. No sandy area for kids to play
-the floating dock/raft is unusable because it is covered in goose poop and geese frequently rest in it. I cleaned it off one day and by the next morning it was covered again. So, don’t rely on having that (I looked around at other rafts in the pond and everyone has the same problem).
-the private beach area to left has no parking allowed, so you must either walk or have someone drop you off. It is a very very short walk but still not convenient with toddlers or lots of gear
-the main floor bedroom with two twin beds has a door that goes to the driveway. I had young children sleeping in this room and due to the room being so hot bc of no air conditioning I was forced to have them sleep with this door open. I was continually nervous they would elope or someone could enter the room (fortunately neither happened)
-bedroom windows are very small. Deceiving because there is a large pane of glass in the center which doesn’t open with small windows on either side. This was frustrating since I needed fresh air in lieu of AC
All in all we really enjoyed the house and we had a great time. Having two kayaks available was nice.

Very nice home with awesome lake views!
The home was lovely and nicely decorated and equipped. The pool/ping pong table was a hit with everyone! There’s plenty of space for everyone to join together at the kitchen table or to slip away for privacy. My nephew really enjoyed the kayaks and the kiddos loved making s’mores by the fire pit. The lake view from the master bedroom is amazing!
We didn’t pay attention before booking and later found out no linens. We’ve never rented a home on the Cape without linens and didn’t want to ask our guests to bring their own. $160 linen rental fee is ridiculous. We purchased towels/sheets from Costco for less. Also worth noting, there is NO A/C. We had a couple of 90 degree days and it was uncomfortably hot, even with the supplied fans. I would suggest a few window units - charge a few dollars more to make up for the cost. There was no propane in the tank to grill. We called the real estate company the next day to see who would cover the cost but we didn’t get a return call until 3 days later. We exchanged/paid out of pocket at Stop & Shop. We were supposed to be reimbursed but still haven’t received anything. Maybe have a spare tank at the house or have housekeeping check and alert owner or Cape Cod Real Estate who manages the property.
I would like to add that Marjie from Cape Cod Real Estate was very nice to go back to the house after we left to retrieve a few items we mistakenly left behind. She was very sweet to send them to us.
We would rent again if they get A/C units for the upstairs bedrooms and living room.
The fees seemed a bit exorbitant - HomeAway fee, service fee and cleaning fee.

Great Stay
Plenty of space for seven adults and four children. We all loved swimming in the pond, the two kayaks and raft added to the fun. The house was well equipped. We liked the location, close to the rail trail, easy drive to Chatham and markets. Looking forward to another stay in the future.

No sandy beach from deck.
Nice house but the view from the deck pictured with a sandy beach must have been taken somewhere else or years ago. No sandy beach from the deck for my grandkids to play on. That was very disappointing and false advertising. Close drive to ocean and nice sandy beach across the pond. Very spacious house, loved the kayaks and swimming in the pond.

Dear Nikki,
I hope you enjoyed your stay at our property and I’m sorry that the water level was so high that there wasn’t any beach at the rear of the property this year. It’s been a very wet winter on Cape Cod and that’s why there wasn’t any beach. All the photos advertising the property are real and genuine and the photo your talking about was taken by myself from the deck at the rear of the property.
The pond water level is different every year, as I would guess it is, with all the ponds on Cape Cod, and this year is the highest that it has been since I’ve bought the property in 2008.
You also have the Private Members Beach, over to the left hand side of the pond, which all guests are free to use. It’s a private owners beach and as such is very rarely used.
I hope it didn’t spoil your vacation too much.
Best wishes,
Bill.

Beautiful house on a pond
This 5 bedroom/ 3 bath home was roomy enough for our whole family. It is beautifully decorated and in a lovely part of Harwich. Be warned though, they don't supply you with linens and towels and that is very inconvenient for people flying in to pack all that stuff. All the other homes we have rented have always supplied those items. It also doesn't have air conditioning. It was pretty warm for a few days and that was a drawback. We loved the kayaks and took them out on the lake a couple of times.

Great Stay!
We had a lovely stay at the beautiful house in Harwich on the Pond. The house is much bigger from the inside. It was nicely decorated, had enough rooms for everyone. The pond behind the house was very nice and we did kayaking there as well as swimming though it was quite cold for memorial day w/end. Everything was available and very clean. It was an easy process to book and Marjie was a pleasure to work with.
Great experience overall and would love to rent again on warmer days!

Great Vacation Rental!
We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect for the 12 of us. 9 adults, 3 kids and still plenty of room. Nicely Furnished and everything we needed was there for us. Fantastic views! Great sunrises! Kayaks! Fishing poles and anything you might need for the water. We loved having our own little beach and a floating raft right outside the back door. This was our first time renting this property and can't wait to rent again next year. I definitely recommend this vacation rental!

We stayed at the house in July 2014. It was a wonderful house for our family and it had everything we needed. It is well maintained and decorated. There were nice extras such as kayaks, life vests and fishing poles. The game room was perfect for our evenings.
We would definitely recommend this property for rental.

Great lake location and comfortable home
Our group of two families have rented this house twice. We weren't sure what to expect the first year but the minute we walked in , we loved it. It is spacious and comfortable with 5 bedrooms and a kitchen-dining area that is large enough to accommodate our group. The swimming raft was a real plus for us as well as the close proximity to the Vacation Lane beach where we spent most afternoons. The view from the deck looks out across one pond to the spit of sand between two ponds and then another pond beyond that. Very lovely!

Perfect location
We stayed here for a week, an extended family group of 10. Six adults and four children ages 11-15. The pond was perfect for swimming, kayaking and just floating around, steps from the back door with room for sitting. The house easily accommodated all, plenty of room without being cramped, nicely furnished, plenty of utensils and beds for everyone. I would absolutely recommend this unit for any large group , we loved it.

Wonderful vacation on the pond
We have rented vacation homes on Cape Cod for many years. Never before have we had such a pleasant experience from beginning to end. This property is just lovely -- well maintained, modern amenities & quality furnishing. The location makes for an ideal family vacation. We hope to stay here again next year! This is not a rental property per se, but a summer home from home.
Our only disappointment was having to leave.

Spring Break
My girlfriend and I stayed at the house on the pond for 10 days over the easter period this year.
Although it was out of the summer season we were very lucky with the weather. The house is lovely and very spacious.
The views over the pond are stunning all hours of the day.
We found plenty to do and took advantage of the bikes and Kayak's supplied.
Even out of season we found plenty of restaurants open and one of our favourites is The Hot Stove Pub in Harwich Port.
We would definetly recommend this property and the whole area of Cape Cod and hope to return in the summer with some of our family.

Why they chose this property
We first saw this property in 2008. We had looked at a lot of properties before we saw this one and as soon as we looked from the deck over the pond we fell in love with it, although it needed a lot of work doing to it!
The house was completely remodelled in 2010 to a very high standard and has plenty of room for the largest of families.
What makes this property unique
The best part of the house is its location on the pond, which is ideal for swiming, kayaking, fishing or just relaxing.
