About this property

Rustic Lake Michigan Cottage Fire Pit & Beach

Our little cottage fondly named Bullwinkle Beach Cottage, is nestled in Ogontz Bay in Big Bay De Noc on Lake Michigan. We are located only 5 minutes from the quiet, historic village of Nahma. Our beautiful beach sports picturesque views of the Garden Peninsula as well as small islands outside of the Bay. Our Cottage location puts you only a few miles from the infamous Nahma Inn Restaurant pub and Inn, and 5 miles from the second oldest golf course in Delta County, Nahma golf course. Nahma Golf course is a 9 hold 36 par Golf Course on the shores of Big Bay De Noc. Our location also locks you into an era best described as the good ole days. Locals are relaxed and taken aback, quick to wave and welcome.

Bullwinkle Beach isn't a luxury resort—and that's part of its charm. It's an older, rustic family cottage with good bones, a cozy atmosphere, and the kind of character that's becoming harder to find. If you appreciate peaceful mornings, star-filled skies, and a true "Up North" experience, you'll feel right at home.

About the Beach

Bullwinkle Beach is tucked back in the woods, offering guests privacy, shade, and a peaceful Northwoods setting. There is a walk from the cottage through the wooded property to reach the Lake Michigan shoreline. While the beach isn't directly outside your door, many guests enjoy the scenic walk and the quiet surroundings.

Lake Michigan water levels naturally rise and fall throughout the year. Currently, water levels are lower than in past years, so swimming conditions may vary depending on the season. While the shoreline is still a wonderful place to explore, watch sunsets, hunt for rocks, launch a kayak, or simply relax, guests looking for deep-water swimming directly in front of the cottage may prefer one of the nearby public beaches during their stay.

Stay Connected...or Disconnect

Wi-Fi is provided; however, due to our rural location, internet service can occasionally be intermittent. It's generally suitable for checking email, browsing the web, and staying in touch, but may not consistently support video conferencing or uninterrupted streaming.

Many guests find this to be the perfect opportunity to unplug, slow down, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Bullwinkle Beach is less about luxury and more about creating memories—campfires, card games, fishing trips, quiet mornings with coffee, evenings under the stars, and quality time with the people you love. It's the kind of place where families reconnect and experience the slower pace that makes the Upper Peninsula so special.

Whether you're exploring the UP, riding nearby ATV trails, fishing Lake Michigan, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, Bullwinkle Beach is a wonderful home base for your next adventure.

Lovely remote location of the lakeshore. Cottage is set back from the Lake but it’s an easy walk to the sand. Lake is low at the moment which provides an interesting vantage point. Convenient to other attractions in the UP. Property Manager was very responsive to any concerns we had.

Very nice place, just wish the water was up to the shore. And with me having double hip replacement a year ago just wish the toilet was a little higher.

Hi! I'm Stacie, and I'm so glad you're considering one of our Upper Peninsula vacation homes for your getaway.

My family and I are passionate about sharing everything we love about the UP—from peaceful lake mornings and campfires under the stars to fishing, boating, ATV adventures, and exploring the small towns that make this area so special.

All of our vacation rentals are family-owned and family-managed. We care for each property as if it were our own because it is! Our goal is to create places where guests feel welcome, comfortable, and excited to return year after year.

As a host, my goal is simple: provide clean, comfortable, welcoming homes where families and friends can relax, reconnect, and create lasting memories. We take pride in being responsive, honest, and available if you need us, while also giving you the privacy to enjoy your vacation.

Whether it's your first visit to the Upper Peninsula or your fiftieth, we're always happy to recommend our favorite restaurants, attractions, beaches, hiking trails, fishing spots, ATV routes, and hidden gems so you can experience the area like a local.

We truly appreciate every guest who chooses to stay with us. Thank you for supporting our family's small business—we look forward to welcoming you to the beautiful Upper Peninsula and helping you create memories that last a lifetime!

Why they chose this property

Bullwinkle Beach has a way of making you slow down the moment you arrive.

Tucked among the trees near the shores of Lake Michigan, it's peaceful, quiet, and refreshingly simple. You'll hear the wind through the pines, birds in the morning, and the crackle of a campfire at night. A walk through the woods leads to the shoreline, where you can watch breathtaking sunsets, search for beach stones, or simply sit and listen to the waves roll in.

What I love most about Bullwinkle Beach is the feeling it gives you. It's a place where families gather around the fire pit to roast marshmallows and make pudgy pies, where kids spend more time outdoors than on their screens, and where evenings end under a sky full of stars.

What makes this property unique

It isn't about luxury—it's about the simple moments that become the best memories. Whether you're exploring the Upper Peninsula, enjoying a quiet morning with a cup of coffee, or ending the day with sandy shoes and a beautiful Lake Michigan sunset, Bullwinkle Beach reminds you to slow down and enjoy what really matters.
