Had a great weekend staying at the Northwoods Cabin Getaway. Enjoyed hiking to the many waterfalls in the area and always had a clean and quiet cabin to return to. The cabin was the cleanest we have ever rented and well supplied with everything we could possibly need. Chris & Laurie were quick to respond to any questions I had. Would definitely stay at the cabin again if it is available next time we are in the area.

Very impressed with the private, beautifully decorated property! We were surprised with wine and treats for our anniversary! Would love to visit in the winter with all the big windows! So much to see up north and the cabin was a nice quiet place to land after hiking to several waterfalls, a photographer's dream!

This cabin was absolutely beautiful. The owners made us feel welcome the moment we stepped in. Communication, location & comfort was excellent. Beautiful area with lots to do. Even heard a Barred owl in a tree on the property which was a neat experience. Only regret we couldn't stay longer!
We absolutely loved our stay! The cabin is beautifully designed and was a perfect size for us. The amenities and the details of everything the owners have done to make this inviting and cozy is perfection. You also couldn't ask for a more secluded, private area. We got to enjoy nature at it's best as well! Our only regret is that we were only there for one short night. We'll be back for certain!

We stayed for a weekend and it was about as perfect as it gets. Super super secluded, nothing but nature and you but with a beautiful place to stay. Not one mosquito bothered us! Spotless, cozy, fully stocked cabin. Tons of bucket list sights nearby. Wouldn't have changed a thing about the cabin or our stay.

We’re so glad you had a perfect weekend getaway! It’s wonderful that you could enjoy the peace and quiet, the comfort of the cabin, and the nearby sights.
What a great place! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary this weekend with some hiking and kayaking. The kayaking trip was canceled last minute due to weather, but we took the disappointment in stride, because we had this beautiful hidden gem to come back to. Chris and Laurie couldn't have been more accomodating. Great hosts with an amazing place. It was very easy to leave the noise behind and enjoy time with each other alone in the woods. Copper Falls is right down the road, highly recommend stopping for a relaxing hike.

Thank you for spending your anniversary with us! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the peace and quiet, even with the kayaking plans changing. It’s wonderful that you were able to relax, reconnect, and explore Copper Falls while you were here. Your kind words mean so much, and we’d be thrilled to host you again anytime.
This is a beautiful, well thought out property! We had everything we needed! A spacious cabin, with luxury details. We enjoyed a campfire before crawling into our comfy bed. It's secluded and quiet, enjoyed listening to the owl and stargazing! About the only thing I would recommend, is hooks to hang jackets. If we're back in the area, would definitely stay again! Oh, and your goodie basket was amazing! Thank you!

We’re so glad you enjoyed your getaway at the cabin! It’s wonderful to hear that both the amenities and outdoor adventures made your stay special. Thank you for the kind words, we’ll be excited to welcome you back anytime!
The cabin is brand new and very modern. The location is beautiful and remote. The bed was very comfortable, and the in-floor heat made the temperature cozy and not drafty in negative degree weather. The host leaves a nice note and basket of treats for the guests. While I tend to bring most of what I need with me, in an emergency I noticed the cabin has many items you could forget. i.e. q-tips, body wash, shampoo, coffee filters, olive oil, spices, etc... I think this belongs to the owners so again, didn't use them, but they're available in a pinch. The driveway is a full U-shaped in-and-out style, great for potential trailers pulling snowmobiles/motorcycles. Just overall, a pleasant place to come home to after a long day of riding. Great stay. Thanks Chris and Laurie!

Thank you for staying with us and for such a thoughtful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the comfort and amenities during your adventures. We hope to welcome you back again soon!
Very lovely remote cabin in the woods. We were there because of the fall colors and photographing waterfalls. We were about 9 miles to the nearest town, Mellen, WI. And there was a gas station and grocery/hardware/liquor store in Mellen. The place was very clean. We always do our own cooking and the kitchen was fully stocked. Plenty of room for the two of us. I slept on the very comfortable and unique pull-out couch and my girlfriend slept in the bedroom on the king size bed, which was very comfortable. We enjoyed the evenings watching TV and our last night we had an outdoor camp fire. The cabin was decorated inside and out so nicely with fall colors. We enjoyed our time here and had everything we needed. And we had great communication with the host. I would highly recommend this place.

Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the fall colors, the comfort of the cabin, and your time exploring the area. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we truly appreciate the recommendation!
I was born and raised in Wisconsin, while Laurie grew up just across the border in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. In 2018, I purchased a piece of land in this beautiful region—a place we had both long been drawn to for its abundant waterfalls, rich mining history, and endless opportunities for exploration.
When we met, we discovered a shared dream: to one day build a cabin tucked deep in the woods, nestled in the foothills of Mt. Whittlesey.
That dream began to take shape in the summer of 2024, and by the summer of 2025, it became a reality. The cabin was completed—a peaceful retreat and a lasting reflection of our love for this land and the journey that brought us here.
We’re honored to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
We were drawn to this area of northern Wisconsin for its unmatched natural beauty, peaceful seclusion, and rich sense of history. It’s a place where the forests are thick with pines, the air feels clean and crisp, and waterfalls, trails, and old mining roads seem to wait around every corner.
We especially love how the location offers the best of both worlds—quiet and privacy on our own wooded acreage, yet just a short drive from Mellen and other local gems. Being so close to Copper Falls State Park and countless UTV/ATV trails makes it perfect for outdoor lovers like us.
This region just felt like home from the moment we first set foot here. Building our cabin in the foothills of Mt. Whittlesey was a way to stay connected to that feeling—and now we’re excited to share it with others.
What makes this property unique
This isn't just a rental cabin—it's the realization of a dream. Built by us in 2025 on 8 private wooded acres in Wisconsin’s beautiful Northwoods, the cabin is tucked away in the foothills of Mt. Whittlesey, offering both seclusion and proximity to adventure.
What makes this place truly special is the combination of:
🌿 Total privacy: No neighbors in sight. Just you, the trees, and the sound of the wind through the pines/aspen trees.
🛏️ Hand-crafted charm: Thoughtfully designed with personal touches that reflect our love for the land.
🚙 Access to nature: Minutes from Copper Falls, scenic waterfalls, hiking, and UTV/ATV trails.
🌌 Dark skies at night: Perfect for stargazing or relaxing by the fire after a day of exploring.
❤️ A story behind the stay: Built with care and intention as a retreat not just for us—but for anyone who needs a reset.
Whether you’re here to chase waterfalls, ride the trails, or just unplug, our cabin offers a kind of quiet comfort and connection to nature that’s hard to find elsewhere.
