About the host
Hosted by Jeanna & Erik Engstrom
Hi there! We’re your hosts, and we’ve been happily married for 32 years and loving every adventure along the way. We truly enjoy the outdoors — whether we’re playing with our horses and dogs, casting a line in the river, or simply sitting by the water with a good book and soaking in the peace and quiet.
We feel so fortunate to call this special place home and are excited to share it with you. As your next-door neighbors, we’re nearby if you need anything at all — whether that’s a restaurant recommendation, a cup of sugar, or even a jump start. At the same time, we completely respect your privacy and want you to relax and enjoy your stay at your own pace.
We look forward to hosting you and helping make your time here restful, fun, and memorable!

Why they chose this property
The Riverhouse is your true gateway to over 4700 acres of pristine Pisgah National Forest land. Leisure walks or hiking right out the front door to and beyond Elk River Falls, North Carolina.
Bring mountain bikes or E-bikes, which you can ride for miles down the wide and relatively unknown trails that border our property. Connect to the Appalachian Trail a couple of miles in, and it's possible that you may not encounter anyone on your outing.

What makes this property unique
The Elk River is known for trout fishing, and it is just steps away from the front porch. There is a grassy river bank, perfect for picnics and the enjoyment of Mother Nature.
Our home is newly remodeled and outfitted with plenty of amenities. The dining, kitchen, and living spaces are open to each other, allowing for quality time with your family and friends.
We have two horses on our property, Charlotte and James. If you enjoy the company of horses, you may visit with them at your leisure.
