If you are looking for a place to stay for one night and you are desperate - then this is the place for you. I will start off by saying that the owner was very nice and provided info on where to eat, buy groceries, shop, etc. and there was a cute dog that came by in the morning to say hello and greet you but everything else was disappointing. The cottage was clean & cozy but needs to be updated & maintained a bit. The door to get in does not lock. My husband had to fiddle with the door knobs and push them together so that we could properly lock the door when we went out for an errand. This took almost 10 minutes to do while standing in the pouring rain, holding my 14th month old baby in one arm and holding the umbrella for my husband with my other hand so he wouldn't get wet. Also, the place smells like mildew. From the towels that were provided to the bed linens - it all smelled like mildew. Also, the bed linens were old and rough to the touch. There was an extra comforter & pillow inside the trunk by the couch and they were filthy. They both had stains, no extra pillow case, and the comforter clearly handn't been washed in a very long time. The couch is uncomfortable- the cushion part slants downward bc it's pretty much old and needs to be replaced. Yes, the kitchen is fully stocked but no paper towels. Just an old rag that stunk like mildew. The morning we left I did find a small roll of paper towels under the sink BUT these are the type of paper towels you find in public restrooms- the brown ones, very cheap. The bathroom was odd - no privacy as you can hear the other person using the toilet and doing their business because the wall that separates the bathroom and the rest of the place doesn't reach the ceiling. The shower curtains were old, ripped and stained with mildew and the door to the bathroom needs to be fixed as well bc it doesn't shut easily. You have to yank it hard to shut it and it slams really loud. With the amount of money charged to stay here, the owner can make a run to Target and get some new bed linens, buy some real paper towels, get a new shower curtain and add an air freshener. I would not recommend this place to my friends or relatives.
