About this property

Apartment with breathtaking view over the lake, no car needed

The flagship of Casa dell’Arco is the breathtaking view over the Lake Como. Casa dell’Arco is located in the heart of Varenna, a true urban example of the old Italian villages. Except the main street crossing the village, all others are pedestrian stairs ways (contrada) that bring you down to the lake, ideal for children. The apartment is on top of the building, on two floors and outside the living room are two balconies. The interiors are stylish and modern and the apartment has been completely restored in early 2010. The lake is 20 meters far and in 5’ of pleasant walk along the lake you reach the ferry dock. The train station is only 10' far. Close to the apartment are : pharmacy, grocery, butcher, bank, restaurants and bars. Casa dell’Arco is the ideal location to live the unique atmosphere of Varenna that will make your holiday unforgettable.

Absolutely stunning apartment. Clean, spacious and with Aircon. which made the heatwave in Varenna bearable! The location and views are incredible with everything nearby. A treasure of a place to stay on Lake Como. Having visited Ballagio, Managio and some nearby villages Varenna was definitely our favourite and this was a perfect base to do all this.

This is a wonderful property!!! It is located right in the heart of Varenna, just steps away from the lake and so close to wonderful restaurants and shops. The view from the balconies is AMAZING. The property was very clean and well-appointed; our stay was very comfortable. My only wish for this property is that it had a more comfortable seating area for gathering in the living room. I would love to stay here again!

The apartment was in a perfect location and offered a beautiful view of the lake! The beds and bedding were comfortable and the apartment was clean. Be prepared to climb steps to the apartment and in the area generally - but that is why you have the views! The host was responsive and I would love to go back again one day!

This is a fine property if you're younger. It is up (or down) many steps to reach, then up three floors of steps inside to get to the top apartment. In addition, the steps outside are on cobblestones which are very slippery when wet, as they were when we arrived.

Charming Varenna apartment with amazing views

Perfect location, fabulous apartment - highly recommend. (Be aware if visiting in summer, as stated in the listing, has fans rather than a/c.) Suited our family of 5 perfectly!

Comfortable and spacious apartment

Loved our stay in this comfortable apartment. Walking distance to some beautiful eateries, ferry and train station. There are stairs within the apartment and inside the apartment, but they are worth it for the view

Lovely apartment. Very disappointed about all the stairs but once in the apartment it was breathtaking. Everything we needed for our stay. Perfect location for the square & hotel my son was getting married at.

Nice apartment in amazing location !

We had a great time ! The view from the balcony is AMAZING! Such a pleasure to have a coffee there every morning (even though there is space for 2 persons only). The apartment is nicely renovated and modern. However I can’t put a 5/5 because in my opinion it misses a comfortable living-room with coaches and a coffee table to gather with your family/friends. We recommend this nice place!

nice apartment

the apartment is very nice, the view from the main bedroom and balconies from living/dining room is amazing. the pictures are mostly accurate, but keep in mind it’s on the top floor so you have to climb 3 flights of stairs to get into the apartment then another flight after you get in to reach the bathroom and bedrooms.. two of the bedrooms are conjoined together and faces the street so it’s a bit noisy.

Beautiful view and clean apartment

The apartment is very nice and spacious. The rooms that are joined with the single beds is a bit small. Best really for children rather than adults. The room in the back is incredibly small but we made it work for our two teenagers. The front room with the window to the lake is amazing. It would have been nice to have had somewhere to hang clothes in this room, the only place to hang clothes was in the "middle bedroom". Common areas is very spacious and the balconies were perfect. Highly recommended,

Beautiful views in a great location

It was our first time at Lake Como. The lake is beautiful, and Varenna was our favorite village on the lake. This property has some great views over the lake. The apartment was clean and in good condition. There are beds to sleep 6, but the third bedroom is only accessible through the second bedroom. There is also not much of a living area. But we spent most of our time outside in awe of the lake and doing some hiking in the area (the hike up to the castle and paying a small fee to get in is worth it for the views). We ate at Cafe Varenna, La Vista, and Bar Il Molo. All of them were fantastic. We had a small issue with the keys at check in, but they were available for communication and did what they could to help resolve.

The key reason to stay here is the location. The space is big enough to host 4-5 adults. However, it is not very comfortable, lacks warmth and accommodating guests. It seems a little dirty or dated. We did not have enough pillows, blankets and towels. There are no amenities such as soap and shampoo to shower. The kitchen is relatively supplied with dishes to prepare meals. It would be nice if when arriving, there are essentials such as bottled water, coffee pods, tea and paper products just to settle in. We had to take an Uber to a store at 6:00pm to pick up supplies for our stay. After a long travel day, it would have been nice to just have a few things there to greet us. The furniture is limited and made it hard to sit in the main space and relax. We did enjoy eating around the main dining table and the views across Lake Como. And again, access to town and the ferry is why you stay here. The light in the bathroom was broken and after contacting Luciana, he sent someone to repair it during the stay. He was responsive to questions but it took a few days each time. Not sure we would stay here again.

Better off in a hotel

In general, the apartment was fine, however many issues added up to make this stay bad.First, there were only sheets for one bed despite it being a 3br apartment. I had the ask the host 4 times for extra linens, which he provided on the last day of our stay. Also, the listing advertises 4 twin beds, there were only 3.Another odd moment happened when a caretaker had to get into the apartment to fix a clogged sink. I’m thankful the host was able fix the issue on short notice. However, when his assistant apparently arrived at the apartment the host called me and sent me multiple messages asked where I was and saying the assistant could not get in. First, the owner never said I needed to be at the apartment to meet the assistant. Second, the key was in the lockbox the entire time and shouldn’t an assistant have a key anyway? It was a strange interaction. More issues:Hot water in the shower only lasts a few minutesNo curtains/shutters on the main bedroom windowYou must have a key to get out of the building’s main door, this seems like a fire hazardStains on the pillows and mattressesThe pillows are very thin, not enough provided The towels felt old and cheap

The location is unbeatable, with an amazing view of the lake and Varenna’s best restaurant at the bottom of the stairs. Unfortunately, the third bedroom (off the second - no other access) has not been made up. There was just a bloodstained throw, no pillow. The bathroom drains stank. The downstairs space is fine but rather uncomfortable with two hard plastic chairs. With a bit of effort, this could be an amazing apartment – it already has an amazing location.

Perfect place to stay in Varenna for family of four. Would not change a thing! Views are dreamy, apt is spacious, clean, upgraded. If I come back, will stay here again. Restaurants downstairs are fantastic. I’ll Cavatappi and La Scarpetta. Loved the wine bar too. I Varenna.
