We've recently built a second cabin with locally sourced lumber and materials. It turned out wonderful and we think you will enjoy your stay here.
The cabin overlooks the beautiful Kootenai River in Northwest Montana and is located 13.5 miles east of Libby, MT and is only 3 miles below the Koocanusa Reservoir. The cabin is ‘turnkey’ with a queen bed on the main floor, a loft that sleeps 2 (full bed), a well equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, books, games, DVD’s and wifi. There is a covered deck to watch the abundant wildlife, a propane grill for barbequeing and a nearby boat launch and fishing access to the Kootenai River. Full service dining at the River Bend Restaurant is only a mile away.

My brother and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cabin was well equipped and clean. We liked that it was not “in town” but close. Definitely would stay here again!
We loved the porch, short walk to the water, and we filled the hummingbird feeder! Quiet, relaxing, and really appreciate the book with trails in it! We really enjoyed our stay! The cabin was clean, has wi-fi, heat, a/c, screens, and curtains!!
It was close enough to town, but fairly secluded. The highway it is on is not busy, so just closing the front windows was enough to keep the noise out. We ate almost every meal on the deck.
The log cabin in the woods is very warm and cozy. The beautiful Kootenia river is nearby. It's conveniently located near Libby. We were in town to attend the Amish auction.

Thanks for the positive review and for the forest map suggestion. I'll be sure to add the map.
Definitely would recommend this cabin. Arrived in the middle of the night and found keys exactly where the owner had said. Everything was all clean and neat and had all the appliances and amenities that you could use on a camping trip plus is well situated to take in a lot of local attractions in and around Libby. Absolutely enjoyed our week there.
Nice place to escape to. My husband is ready to relocate!
We had a great stay, close to River, which was just across the street. Loved having a full kitchen and grill to cook with. Great WiFi but no cell phone service which was no problem for us. Over all very nice would stay again!
We had an amazing time at the Heron's Roost. It was such a perfect cabin to regroup each night and had everything we could possibly need. It is so centrally located in the area and made it very easy to go in any direction for each day's adventure. We loved sitting on the deck in the morning and evening enjoying nature. We will definitely be back.
Our family (ages 15 to 75) met at the cabin for a week. The owner was very helpful with the extra bed we needed and the cabin was spotless. In mid-August the air conditioning was a blessing. Our favorite spot!
This “cabin” has all the amenities anyone would want. The river is close, the birds and wildflowers are amazing. The hosts provide an incredibly detailed resource notebook on fun things to do in the area. We were there for a horse clinic in Libby, we ALL had a great time. Fell in love with Libby!
Heron’s Roost was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin had everything we needed to feel like home. The washer and dryer were a great addition considering we spent a couple of days camping prior to our arrival. Loved that the laundry soap was fragrance free as I am sensitive to fragrance and have been bothered by scents in sheets/towels in other rentals. We will definitely be back.
Great experience at the Heron Cabin😃 enjoyed the beautiful night sky’s and the accommodations at the cabin. One note for the main bedroom downstairs, my 80 year old father-in-law used that bedroom and because of the height of the bed he did fall onto the floor the first night going to the bathroom, we had the little stool there for him but it was hard for him to find it. We ended up moving one of the night lights in there to help him see it.
After staying in small hotel rooms, especially one that ended up not having even a small fridge, for more money, this was such a superior experience. All the conveniences of home, plenty of room, private forest setting yet close to activities, responsive host, great stay. Can’t go wrong staying here.
The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy a few days of relaxation after our busy days at Glacier NP. My husband and I enjoyed evenings sitting on the porch, and I even found a really great book on the shelf. Was so thankful for the AC!
