About this property
Serendipity Cottage by Lermond Pond
Sitting just 30 feet from the water's edge, this delightful cottage is beautifully decorated with all your comforts in mind. I've been renting my home for 20 years and have many repeat guests who have become friends. They love the uniqueness of my home, a cross between traditional & eclectic, guests have described it as "magical."
Though small in stature, this cottage is large in space, with beautiful vistas & solitude. With its 300 feet of shore frontage, dock, beautiful gardens, rock lined streams & lawn area for play, you will delight both inside & out. There is easy access for kayaks from the shore with lots to explore on the pond. & the water is great for swimming. Minimum stay for Off-Season rentals is flexible.
The open floor plan is filled with light from the full wall of windows looking out over the water. The kitchen could be described as a One-Butt-Kitchen, but is packed with cooking essentials and stainless appliances: gas stove, dishwasher, french door refrigerator and microwave,; beautiful granite counter tops, spices, condiments, baking needs, stainless cookware, coffee maker and loads of gadgets. The dining room/living room are designed with comfort in mind and filled with handcrafted furniture, artwork and unique artisan crafted items. The view of the lake, just 30 feet away is amazing.
The master bedroom on the first floor has a king size bed and attached bathroom and laundry room. Upstairs are two additional bedrooms, both with queen size beds and one with an additional trundle bed, comfortable for an average sized adult. There is a bathroom with shower upstairs. A toddler size aero bed and pack'n play are also available. All beds are topped with 3" of tempurpedic foam, generous bed pads, white cotton sheets and a variety of pillows for you to choose from. All towels and linens are provided including beach towels.
The deck, rimmed with overflowing flower boxes, has a comfortable seating area, dining table and gas grill along with a huge umbrella for our rare hot days. The forty foot dock has chaise lounges to relax on and side tables to set your coffee mug or wine glass on while you watch ducks, loons, eagles and the ever entertaining chickadees. Also a great place to cast your line and catch a nice trout for dinner. Be sure you get your fishing licence from the Hope Town Office. There are perennial gardens, stone lined brook and generous lawn area for the kids to play and shaded dining area by the woods where you can enjoy lovely breezes coming over the water, whispering through the trees.
The water in Lermond Pond is wonderfully clean and enjoyable to swim and frollick in. It is quiet with very little boat traffic with only the occasional water skier but no jet skis. The navigable creek by kayak that connects Lermond Pond with Alford Lake is a beautiful paddle with a short portage with your kayak to further explore our neighboring lake.
The house is loaded with a variety of books, something for everyone including lots of beautifully illustrated children's books. A crate of toys is available for toddlers, games for adults, satellite tv, stereo and Wifi. Or do nothing but sit on the lounge style futon looking out over the lake: Binoculars included.
