Everything was great. Tessa and Stewart are quick to respond to any query and super friendly. The cottage was lovely and had a great view. We ordered from the Lyrebird menu and the food instructions were easy to understand and the food was delicious. The place was tranquil and peaceful.

Tha accommodation was very roomy and clean
Nice and quiet and relaxing
This was the second time we’ve stayed here; it is a wonderful place, very roomy, spotlessly clean, with everything you need including the provisions for a cooked breakfast on your first morning. The setting in the bush is magical and we did see some lyrebirds.
Absolute bliss. We loved the warmth and charm of Mountain Ash cottage. Our weekend made perfect by all of the ‘little things’ from our gracious hosts. Thank you so much.
My stay was peaceful and enjoyable. The house was exactly as pictured and Tessa was lovely and helpful. Lots of nice things to do nearby too! Would stay again :)
Thank you for providing a beautiful clean property in a stunning location and for the warm welcome and attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Autumn colours in the garden and the low light filtering through the forest make this a lovely time.
Soon we will be in winter, time for glowing wood fire, hot spa bath and mulled wine.
Hope to see you again.

Gorgeous property, exactly what we were looking for. Very comfortable, fantastic facilities and lots of little extras that made it special. Being able to watch the lyrebirds from in front of the wood heater topped it off!
Absolutely stunning views and a beautiful property. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back

We are just over an hour from central Melbourne but a very quiet pocket of nature so removed from city life.
Really glad you enjoyed your stay with us.
All the best.

Beautiful cottage with lovely views - it was so peaceful and secluded .The cottage is finished to a high standard , we had very cold spring weather (2cel & under) but were toasty warm with wood fire on every night - hosts were charming - everything was perfect games/books/music wine & meals are also available - luxury rural stay
a relaxing and peaceful space in which to rest, relax and re- energize. The drive up to the stay is refreshing as you soak in the Australian bush. Make it a priority for your next stay away.
Great experience, amazing way to spend a quiet birthday!
Communication with the property managers was great from the beginning. They answered all our questions and were amazing hosts. The property was in great condition, very clean and had all the basic amenities we needed. We had an amazing time and will surely go back.

Really glad you enjoyed the natural surroundings including the wombats and wallabies that live in the garden.
A warm wood fire and a great view over the forest to Melbourne and the vineyards of the valley a short drive away means you can choose to have both nature and the sophistication of the Yarra Valley.
Susanna who is looking after the cottages whilst we are away enjoyed meeting you and we look forward to your return.

We have absolutely adored our stay here, we could not have picked a better place to spend our first couple of nights together. The scenery was stunning, the air fresh, the area tranquil, and the cottage itself was more lovely and comfortable than we anticipated. Tessa and Stewart are wonderful hosts and communicated very well. Cannot recommend highly enough, will definitely be back.

Peaceful and perfect
The property was beautiful. So quiet and peaceful. Well presented.
Only negative was that we weren't familiar with the area and it was a little further out of town than we anticipated. But that has its appeals too!

Really glad you enjoyed your stay. The vineyard area of the Yarra Valley is about 40km wide and just as long so it covers a large area.
Healesville is our nearest town, just under 15 minutes away. The Healesville Sancturary is 10 minutes away and the nearest winery is also 10 minutes drive. There is a day spa 5 minutes down the road.
We have beautiful natural surroundings with many native animals and birds which you can see in the garden and forest.
We are only just over an hour from Hoddle street in Melbourne and most of our guests are looking for a change from their urban life, a complete change from home surrounded by nature.
And when you would like to go somewhere most places including vineyards and cafes in the valley are within 20 minutes drive.
Hope to see you back again when you are next in the Yarra Valley
We had the most wretched weather and it didn't matter one bit because this property was so beautiful. We felt at home even as it felt like a complete break. They thought of everything. One thing: we think the spa wasn't working! Very child and dog friendly (we didn't bring our dog but could have) and so many beautiful surprises on the property including the gorgeous lily pond. Thanks so much :)

Really glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Not sure what happened about the spa but it seems to be working as it should, maybe the pump button wasn't pushed far enough?
We are happy to have children stay.
Our policy has always been to not allow pets.
It is a very natural area with many native animals and birds. We feel pets may disturb that and we want to keep faith with our guests who may choose to stay only where pets are not allowed.
We look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

We wanted some peace and quiet and to have a rest away from it all over New Year, and five nights at Mountain Ash was the perfect choice! The drive up Mt Toolebewong, the magnificent views, the comfy, spotlessly clean cottage with everything we could possibly wish for made sure of that! We even had a delicious three-course meal cooked by a local chef delivered to our door on NYE for an extremely reasonable extra cost. We didn’t need to go anywhere, although it is a short drive to all the conveniences and delights of the Yarra Valley. Did I mention the views? We loved it! One of the best we’ve stayed in, and we’ve stayed in a lot!
What a find.
We stayed in the Mountain Ash cottage which was perfect for a romantic getaway.
This elevated little retreat has views to the city from the wrap-around deck and access to meander the surrounding forest in search of lyrebirds and wombats.
Otherwise, you might like to stay in by the log fire with something selected from the bookcase, dvd or games shelf.
The fully equipped modern kitchen was a delight to cook in and alternatively a la carte meals were available.
Thank you for your welcoming hospitality and sharing your lovely place with us.

Great location
We enjoyed our stay apart from waking up to no electricity on our last day. We ended up packing up and leaving earlier than planned as it was absolutely freezing not being able to turn the heaters on. I am still waiting for a reply from the owner about that issue. A shame our weekend had to end abruptly due to this. There was also a constant unpleasant smell in the bathroom, issues with the plumbing I assume.

So sorry you experienced the power outage that began about 4.00am.
It was a cold winter morning.
Ausnet was able to restore it at 8.30 about 30 minutes after you left.
I have no idea what the smell was and no other guests have mentioned it. My apologies and I will investigate it.

Having travelled the world as backpackers for a number of years, we finally chose this beautiful mountain top to put down our roots. We love meeting people from different countries and cultures, speaking different languages and getting out there exploring on our bikes or on foot.
Why they chose this property
We have lived at Lyrebird Cottages since 1997 and the cottages have been open since 2003. We moved here from central Melbourne to live surrounded by nature but we are only just over an hour to the centre of Melbourne. The cottages are architect designed to use solar passive design and be light filled. They are spacious and cosy for longer stays as well as short mid-week and weekend getaways from the city.
What makes this property unique
Lyrebird Cottages is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Hoddle street in Melbourne CBD, a short drive and complete change from urban life. Beautiful mountain top views, lyrebirds and wombats wander the garden and around the cottages. Only the sound of birds and at night the song of frogs in the garden. There is seven acres of natural forest on the property which a path winds through. The cottages are clean and modern with every comfort. Spacious bathroom, bedroom and living areas and a full size kitchen. They are heated by wood fire and electric heating and each cottage has a large spa in the bathroom. A large private balcony has seating and a barbeque and overlooks the garden. The cottages are about 20 metres apart and are completely private. Wireless internet is provided. At Lyrebird Cottages you are surrounded by nature. Vineyards, cafes , shops and Healesville Sanctuary are 10 to 15 minutes away when you want to explore the valley. A perfect destination for a weekend break or a longer stay with our discounted rates for longer stays.
