About this property
Tranquil Mt retreat | hot tub | sauna | EV charger
Welcome to Shenandoah Hideaway at Bryce Resort! Perched on the mountainside at road’s end, this secluded, newly renovated gem offers you a tranquil hideaway with birdsong and exquisite views of the Great North Mountain and Lake Laura, plus luxe comforts, cleanliness, convenience and a wide range of fun activities at Bryce Resort. Unwind with a unique hot tub and sauna experience perched amongst the trees, with gorgeous mountain views. Includes fully stocked kitchen, luxury baths & game room.
Highlights:
• Wrap around deck with exquisite views and cozy fire table
• Hot Tub • Scandinavian-style outdoor barrel sauna
• Brand new top-of-the-line fiber optic connection – super fast!
• Basement game room and bar area
• 3 SMART Roku TVs
• Fully stocked kitchen with a variety of appliances for your cooking needs – including roasting pan for the holidays!
• Coffee lovers have a choice of brew options – stovetop espresso, regular coffee brewer, French press, and pour over
• Pickleball equipment provided - bring your own equipment for skiing, skating, biking, golf and tennis, or rent from the resort (all but tennis equipment available for rent)
• Electric vehicle charger (level 2)
• Dog friendly
• Commitment to cleanliness – no more need to worry if that blanket or coverlet was washed between guests!
Luxury, comfort, style and convenience await you inside. Four full bedrooms (one loft bedroom with king bed, 2nd loft bedroom with 2 twin beds, one bedroom with queen bed, one bedroom with king and bunk bed) and three stylish and newly renovated bathrooms comfortably accommodate groups of up to 10 people. Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness is very important to us (we have two washers and two dryers!). We wash all used bedding including coverlets (during summer), duvet covers (in winter), any used blankets, throws, mattress/pillow protectors + all other linens with every turnover.
The fully stocked, large, open kitchen provides the perfect space for cooking and enjoying delicious meals, whether a romantic dinner for two or your group of up to 10. Enjoy dinner inside the great room with its high, sloping ceiling and expansive windows that open to the magnificent view, or out on the deck where you will be perched amongst the trees and can enjoy the full, sweeping view.
After dinner, enjoy the hot tub and sauna, snuggle up by the fire table, get cozy for a movie or hit the game room. The game room includes shuffleboard, foosball and retro two-player arcade with 412 games, plus board games. Or simply chill on the deck while you watch the sun set behind the Great North Mountain. Most evenings, the only sound you will hear is birdsong and the breeze rustling through the tree tops. At road’s end, there is no through traffic and there are no nearby houses to distract from your private experience of nature.
We welcome dogs! We want to make your pooch feel at home. To this end, we provide 1 dog bed for a medium size dog (cover changed between each dog), dog towels, dog food bowl, a few complementary poop bags and a separate poop bin.
The area:
Our house is located in Bryce Resort, just above Lake Laura. There is a gorgeous hike around the circumference of the lake, whose trail is accessible via an easy downhill walk from the house (a leisurely 20 minutes for most people). From the Lake Laura recreation area you can swim, paddleboard/kayak/canoe (bring your own or rent from the recreation area) or fish (bring your own equipment). Anglers can fish for largemouth bass, bluegill, pumpkinseed sunfish, crappie, walleye, channel catfish, and northern pike.
It takes about 8 leisurely minutes for the scenic drive from the house to the central skiing / tubing / skating / mountain biking area of the resort. There are myriad fun activities you can do without ever leaving the resort.
Within 5 minutes drive from the house, we have Smiley's Ice Cream, Mini Golf, Pale Fire Brewery, Burn Barrel Restaurant, the R House and a local country store for anything you may have missed when picking up groceries on the way in.
Outside the resort but still within easy driving distance, you can find the following activities:
• Numerous hikes through the local mountains. We suggest some local trails in our welcome book. Big Schloss is 30 minutes away.
• Nearby wineries: Cave Ridge Vineyard, The Winery at Kindred Point, Wolf Gap Vineyard, the Muse and others
• Nearby breweries: Pale Fire Brewery, Swover Creek Brewery, Ridge Runner Farms, and Woodstock Brewhouse
• Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive (less than one hour)
• Shenandoah River recreational areas and tubing/rafting options (30 minutes to one hour, depending on which site you choose)
• Shenandoah Caverns (20 minutes)
• Luray Caverns (45 minutes)
Every guest will receive a unique access code for keyless entry and have private access to the entire house except for the four closets (one in the loft area, one in the kitchen area, two in the basement) that are locked and not accessible to guests.
Check in instructions are provided automatically 48 hours in advance (or automatically upon booking if booking within 48 hours of check in). Please use the app as the first point of contact and we will get back to asap. If needed, you can also call us.
Road conditions: Our property is located on a mountain. Roads can be difficult to navigate during the winter months, when snow and ice can be common. We highly recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle in the winter months.
Travel insurance: As unexpected events can happen, we highly recommend purchasing travelers’ insurance and insuring your trip.
Quiet hours and other rules: While the house is in a very private location, we are committed to being respectful neighbors and ask that our guests do the same. Per Sky Bryce rules, quiet hours are from 11 PM to 7 AM. Parties or group gatherings are not allowed on the property. Smoking, weapons, and illegal substances are strictly prohibited.
Parking: Parking spots (and the EV charger) are conveniently located directly in front of the main entryway. Three cars fit easily and a fourth can fit with a bit of squeeze. Access for guests with mobility restrictions: There is one step at entry before you come to the main level, where you find the living and dining room and kitchen as well as one bedroom and bathroom. This is a real plus in this mountain area where there are often many steps to navigate from the parking area to the home.
Pet policy: Dogs are welcome for an additional $125 fee per booking. We allow a maximum of 2 house-trained, well-behaved dogs. If you forgot to list your dogs when making the booking, we can add them in advance of your arrival by contacting us on the app. Failure to disclose your dogs can result in cancelation of your reservation. Please note, dogs are not allowed on the furniture. You are responsible for cleaning up after your dogs, including proper disposal of all waste (we provide a separate poop bin). Dogs are not allowed into the hot tub. No cats are allowed due to severe allergies.
Wildlife: You may encounter bears and other wildlife. Please dispose of trash properly to avoid attracting animals.
Pests: We use a pest service to minimize bugs and critters. However, as we are surrounded by woods, we cannot guarantee a bug-free experience.
Hot Tub and sauna usage is at your own risk, as is utilization of Lake Laura and facilities at Bryce Resort.
