The Space:
Ideally located in the Cannonborough Elliotborough neighborhood of Charleston, this one-bedroom carriage house provides a wonderful taste of the city's history and charm, as well as easy walking access to an endless assortment of restaurants, landmarks, and boutiques downtown. This comfortable space is accented by original hardwood floors, a full bathroom on each of the two levels, a private washer/dryer for your ease and convenience, and a fully equipped kitchen with every essential. Leave your car in the provided off-street parking space, and spend balmy afternoons relaxing outside on your private patio. At night, you'll have a loft-style bedroom with a beautiful, queen-size rice bed, an 18th-century style originated by the acclaimed craftsman Thomas Elfe. This type of bed was designed to allow for better air circulation throughout the hot summer, offering four posts that have been intricately carved with images of rice and tobacco, two crops that defined Southern agriculture at the time. In the living room, you'll find a cable TV and an additional sleeper sofa as well.

Cute and cozy place to stay! Quiet and safe street/location but also super close to King Street. Place was clean and had everything needed. Great value for price in my opinion!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is very central and in walking distance to many fantastic restaurants, shops and activities. The house was lovely. Nicely appointed and stocked with coffee and teas. We would definitely stay here again. Check in and on-site parking instructions wee very clear.
Great experience staying at this house. The host had the history of the house and bed, everything was historic and very well kept and designed. Highly recommend staying here. Parking right in front if the door definitely a plus!
Very nice place in a wonderful location. We would stay there again. Our only complaint, and it is a minor one, is that there is no towel bar in the downstairs bathroom so there is no place to hang a wet towel.
Everything about this place is so good. Quaint and quiet. Perfect for a couple just getting away for a few days. Close to lots of must sees in Charleston too.
The cottage was very accommodating. There was enough room to relax between shows. We were there for Spoleto. There wasn’t an office as listed so my husband used the dining table to write his reviews. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to have two full bathrooms. It was very convenient to have a washer and dryer since we were there for 12 days. Communication with the host was very easy with good response time. The only problem we had was there wasn’t any way to turn the car around to go forward out of the driveway. The cat sitter had his car parked continuously in the area we could have used to turn around. This was the only major problem we encountered.
The lock combination provided did not unlock the door. We contacted the supprt number and they were ble to provide us with access to the lock box with a physical key. After a seven hour drive that was an unwanted task to deal with. Other than that all was great.
I stayed at this property June 21-25, 2026. While the property appeared clean and did have all the necessary amenities, it had visual black mold INSIDE. It was on the front door, and coming out of the baseboard in the left hand corner of the bedroom just to the left of the bed. There was a window behind the bed so I decided to check behind the shutters. There was mold and dead flies on the window sill. I sent pictures along with a message to the management company on June 26. They thanked me for letting them know and told me they would update me once they had more information. As I write this review in July 11, 2026 I have not heard back from them. I generally do not write reviews, but people should know what they are renting. If you have allergies or have had mold illness, this is not the place for you. Even if you haven’t, mold can make you very sick, so now you are informed and can make your decision to stay or not stay at this property based on this information. It’s too bad because it is a cute property and had everything you would need, but since I have not heard back, I assume the mold is still there.
A charming historic property, generously sized, great location.

This review was a pleasure to read! We are so glad you enjoyed 4B. Charleston is the perfect place for both groups and families. There is so much history in all neighborhoods, and they all have their own story. We hope you had a chance to discover some of the history that is still alive around us. We look forward to your next trip to Charleston, SC!
This Vrbo stay is a good size for 1-3 guests. There is 1 large bed upstairs and a sofa bed downstairs. I really liked that there were 2 full bathrooms, especially staying with 2 other people. It is definitely an older property. The location was quiet and suitable for a family. It is a smaller house off of the main property, and it suited our needs for a short stay.
