Experience starlit serenity in Orion, a cozy loft‑style glamping dome nestled on 35 acres of West Virginia woods, offering private deck views and quiet mountain nights.
The night sky stretches over the ridge, constellations spilling through the dome’s tall windows as the fire pit crackles on your private deck. A gentle breeze carries the scent of pine, and the hush of the woods invites you to slow down and breathe. In winter, the landscape glows under a soft, still hush, perfect for lingering by the fire and watching snow settle on the trees.
Sleeping arrangements
The loft‑style dome sleeps four. A king bed rests on the main level, offering spacious comfort and unobstructed views of the night sky. Above, a queen loft bed is tucked into the loft space, reachable by a set of stairs and positioned for stargazing from the comfort of your pillow. The layout works best for guests comfortable with a multi‑level interior.
Interior comforts
Inside, heating keeps the dome warm during colder months, while air conditioning is ready for milder days. WiFi, a TV, and a sound system provide entertainment and the option to work remotely. A full bathroom with shower and bathroom essentials lets you refresh without stepping back into the chill. A sound machine is available to mask any distant road noise.
Kitchen & dining
A compact kitchen area lets you brew coffee at sunrise and prepare simple meals for dinner. A dining table invites you to share meals, play board games, or map out the next day’s hike. Everything you need for casual cooking is within reach.
Outdoor living
Your private deck extends the living space outdoors. A fire pit becomes the evening’s gathering spot, perfect for s’mores and conversation under clear winter skies. A BBQ grill offers the option for grilled meals, and outdoor seating lets you soak in the mountain surroundings at any time of day.
Property setting
Orion sits on 35 wooded acres in Wardensville, West Virginia, at one of the highest points of a private retreat. Free parking is provided on the premises. The property includes one additional dome about 100 feet away and a yurt over 400 feet distant, so you may see other guests, but your dome retains its own deck and fire pit for a sense of seclusion.
Local highlights
A short drive brings you to hiking trails, fishing spots, and Lost River State Park. Nearby towns offer cafés, restaurants, and local shops for relaxed afternoons before returning to the dome’s warmth.
Winter travel considerations
Snow or icy conditions may require a four‑wheel‑drive vehicle or tire chains, and travel insurance is recommended. Refunds are not offered for road conditions beyond the host’s control.
A cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, though leaves, pollen, and natural traces may still appear, especially in certain seasons. Embrace the quiet, the stars, and the forest‑filled air for a grounded, seasonal escape.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
