Experience starlit serenity in a cozy dome nestled on 35 wooded acres of West Virginia mountains. Wake to sunrise over misty peaks, unwind by the fire pit, and drift to sleep under a canopy of constellations.
- Sleeps 4 | 1 bedroom | 2 beds | 1 bath
- Private deck w/ fire pit & BBQ grill
- Heated dome + AC for year‑round comfort
- WiFi, TV & sound system for cozy nights
- Kitchen & dining area for simple meals

The Space:
The night sky opens like a velvet canvas, constellations spilling across the dome’s windows as the scent of pine drifts on a gentle spring breeze. You step onto a private deck, the fire pit’s ember glow inviting you to linger while the woods whisper softly around you. Inside, the loft‑style dome cradles you in warm wood tones, a perfect blend of shelter and open‑air wonder. As daylight fades, the quiet of the mountains settles, and you find yourself drawn to the crackle of fire and the comfort of a king‑size bed beneath the stars.
Sleeping arrangements
- King bed on the main level, perfect for a restful night.
- Queen loft bed positioned for night‑sky views, accessed by stairs; best for guests comfortable with a multi‑level interior.
- Accommodates up to four guests, with one bathroom.
Interior comforts
- Full indoor bathroom with shower and bathroom essentials.
- Heating for cooler evenings and air conditioning when temperatures rise.
- WiFi, TV & sound system for streaming or remote work.
- Sound machine provided to support restful nights.
- Free parking on the premises.
Kitchen & dining
- Simple kitchen area for brewing coffee and preparing meals.
- Dining table for meals, board games, or planning the day’s adventure.
Outdoor living
- Private deck with fire pit & BBQ grill, ideal for s’mores and conversation under clear skies.
- Outdoor seating lets you soak in mountain views, whether wrapped in a light jacket for a crisp evening or enjoying a sunny spring afternoon.
Setting & shared property notes
- Part of a larger private retreat that includes another dome about 100 feet away and a yurt over 400 feet away.
- Your dome retains its own deck and fire pit, offering a sense of separation while occasional guests may be seen nearby.
- The 35‑acre wooded setting is naturally serene; a state route to the north can bring mild road noise, especially in winter.
- Cleaning staff sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, though leaves or pollen may still appear.
Area highlights
- A short drive reaches hiking trails, fishing spots, and Lost River State Park.
- Nearby small towns provide cafés, restaurants, and local shops for relaxed afternoons.
Travel considerations
- During snow or icy conditions, four‑wheel drive or tire chains may be required; travel insurance is recommended in winter.
- No refunds are offered for road conditions outside the host’s control.
Whether you’re stargazing from the loft, warming up by the fire pit, or simply breathing in the fresh mountain air, Orion offers a grounded seasonal escape centered on nature and quiet.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
