The Space:

Cool mountain air drifts through the trees as you step onto the porch, the quiet broken only by the soft rustle of leaves. The scent of pine mixes with the faint smoke from the fire pit, inviting you to unwind after a day on the trails. Inside, the glow of the indoor fireplace draws you to the open living area, where a Smart TV waits for movie nights. As night falls, the hot tub steams invitingly, promising a soothing soak under a canopy of stars.

Sleeping arrangements

Two private bedrooms accommodate up to four guests. Bedroom 1 on the main level features a king bed, while Bedroom 2 on the upper level features a queen bed. A full bathroom serves both rooms, offering a convenient layout for couples, families, or a small group.

Living space

The bright, two‑story living area flows seamlessly into the loft, creating space for board games, quiet conversations, or a movie on the Smart TV. Central heating keeps the room comfortable during colder months, and the indoor fireplace becomes the natural gathering point after a day outdoors.

Kitchen & dining

A fully equipped kitchen provides everything needed to prepare meals, from stovetop cooking to coffee brewing. The dining table seats the whole party, perfect for shared meals, card games, or planning the next adventure.

Outdoor living

Step onto the spacious deck and patio to feel the fresh mountain breeze. String lighting adds a cozy glow after sunset, while the fire pit invites s’mores and storytelling. The hot tub is available year‑round, especially inviting on crisp evenings. An outdoor seating area and BBQ grill let you enjoy the scenery when the weather permits.

Family and pet‑friendly touches

The home welcomes dogs and is truly pet‑friendly, but cats are not allowed due to allergies. Children’s books, toys, dinnerware, and board games are provided, making it easy for families to settle in. A private entrance and generous outdoor space add to the comfort of traveling with little ones or four‑legged companions.

Location & surroundings

Nestled in Rio, West Virginia, the cabin sits about 10 minutes from Bryce Resort and within easy reach of state parks, scenic trails, and charming mountain towns. Winter visitors enjoy peaceful drives, nearby hiking, and the quiet charm of the region without crowds.

Good to know

Wi‑Fi is included and works well for streaming and video calls, though speeds may vary due to the remote mountain setting. The natural environment means you may notice leaves, pollen, or other outdoor elements on decks and walkways, especially in certain seasons.

Perfect for

Couples seeking a cozy winter retreat, families looking for space to unwind together, or a small group wanting a peaceful base near Bryce Resort. Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub under clear night skies or relaxing fireside indoors, the setting encourages rest, warmth, and quality time.

We loved our stay here. Very quiet, pretty setting, great hot tub, comfy couch for relaxing. Keep in mind that the road to the house is gravel and very bumpy. Also note that the water has a strong sulfur smell, if you are sensitive to scents. Definitely recommend at stay here for a mountain weekend!

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

What makes this property unique

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Red Feather Cottage in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cottage is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
