The kitchen is well equipped and the house felt welcoming and comfortable. It is conveniently located to the New River Gorge area and nearby Fayetteville. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Very comfortable home base for exploring the NRGNP. Very close to the Canyon Rim, Endless Wall trail, Bridge walk. We had everything we needed to cook meals in the evening and sat out by the firepit and could see the Milky Way. Its close to the road so you can hear the cars go by but it didn’t bother anyone in my family but me. I'm a light sleeper. The house was very clean except for the mold in the first floor window AC units. We chose not to run those because we have a kiddo with sensitivity to mold. We loved being able to bring our dog with us. Thank you for a lovely stay.
This house was a lovely place to stay for a long wedding weekend. Everything we could have needed was provided. I wish we could have enjoyed the house a little more but our time there was so busy. We do look forward to one day staying again and enjoying the house and surrounding activities.
The stay was very nice and home was quite welcoming as it had Christmas decor out. Our onky issue was the road/outside noises kept us awake at night. This is at no fault to the owners as we are jist light sleepers. Hearing the wind blow and wind chimes chiming made us think our alarm was going off, LoL!
The house was in a perfect location for visiting the New River Gorge Bridge and for hiking the Endless Wall Trail. We like old houses. The house was very comfortable. The house was well equipped with everything we needed.
This mountain house (which has been in the owner’s family for @150 years) is in a perfect location for exploring New River Gorge National Park. The master bedroom was provided with comfortable and clean mattress and linens. We appreciated the excellent Wi-Fi and laundry facilities. Check out Bridge Brew Works and get delicious pizza at Pies and Pints. (Date of stay Oct. 1-4, 2025).
A lot of history in this little house right by the NRG National Park! We loved the area in general and the house was in a great location to explore everything NRG has to offer. Beautiful surroundings, nice neighbors, clean and comfortable rooms, historical house. We stayed only one night but hopefully we’ll go back for a longer stay.
Well maintained home...very comfy and cozy. Quiet atmosphere with front porch to sit and the watch the deer. Kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials. Pet friendly. We will definitely return!
Fantastic location for visiting the gorge, including an amazing overlook reached by about a 1.5 mile walk and one of the highest-rated trails in the park (Endless Wall) even closer. Was pretty snug for our family of 6 (including 3 teenaged boys), especially the dinner table, but we knew it wasn't a huge place, and it was more than adequate. Everything was as advertised.
We needed a dog friendly place to base our New River Gorge trip and this fit the bill. Plenty of room and everything went smoothly. No dishwasher so you'll have to hand wash any dishes you use but that's not a huge issue. The window unit air conditioners worked well enough we were quite comfortable.I would add that you are parking in front of the left hand garage door but you are staying in the main house. The keypad is on the back sun room door.

The property is very conveniently located to hiking trails. Parking is a bit difficult if you have a large car. I had to back out of the driveway when there was another car parked on the property. Overall, the property was clean, but the carpet is overdue for replacement, due to age and stains.. I did get a nail in my heel from the transition piece between the dining room and the kitchen. That needs attention.
The location worked great for us! We enjoyed some nice hikes within a short drive or even walk from the house. It was easy to get to New River Gorge and Hawk’s Nest State Park. It was great also to have our pup with us. The upstairs bedrooms worked out well for our kids too. It’s an old house, so there were frequently bugs in the house, which bothered our kids more than it did us. When we arrived we had to vacuum up a lot of dead bugs near the windows upstairs. The tub also had some stray hairs in it when we arrived, which gave the feeling that it wasn’t well cleaned. The bath towels were old, which I know would bother some people. We appreciated a well stocked kitchen with pots and pans, utensils, plates, coffee maker, etc. Don’t expect any other staples though - spices, oil, condiments, etc. Overall, the house worked for us, but guests should be prepared for those few quirks.
This house is a great location to enjoy the New River Gorge National Park. There are even hikes close to the house as well. The kitchen has everything you need and a grill outside to use. We enjoyed our peaceful nights sleep after a wonderful day hiking the great outdoors! We would definitely stay there again!
My partner and I (and our American Foxhound) stated here over Labor Day Weekend 2024. This location is PERFECT for any activities you might want to be doing in the New River Gorge National Park or in the surrounding towns. While we didn’t wind up cooking this time, the kitchen is well appointed with excellent cookware and good appliances. We are already planning to book this house for next Labor Day Weekend!
Loved the location. Very clean & comfortable and a good night's sleep. Unfortunately we could only stay 1 night but we will be back so we can explore a lot more! Be sure to write down or screenshot the address & the code needed for check-in!! I wasted a lot of time trying to get that info from my phone because wifi is not good at all in that area. But that's why you go to this area, right?---to go off of the grid.
Loved sitting on the rocking chairs on the front porch & watching the fireflies. Thank you for having us!
