About this property
Eclectic Lakefront Cottage on Great East Lake!
Welcome to your relaxing stay on the shore of Great East Lake! This cottage has 100 feet of private shoreline in the calm 3rd basin of the lake. This entire basin is a "no-wake" zone which allows safe swimming/exploring for the whole family. Enjoy fishing, search for turtles, or explore beyond the cove using the provided canoe, kayaks, or paddle boards. You are welcome to bring your own boat and keep it right at the 24' aluminum dock. We realize that pets are family too and responsible pet owners are welcome to bring their 4 legged friends along.
Our original family camp was torn down and we reused whatever we could on this new cottage. Inside you'll find a unique mix of salvaged items, vintage pieces, and modern amenities. You'll enter through the old door from the original camp. You'll immediately be greeted by a barn door that was made from the floor joists holding up the bedroom my siblings and I slept in as kids. All the wood that you see on the walls and ceiling were either saved from the old building, or milled on-site using trees from the property! The living area is an open concept kitchen/living/dining area. The kitchen is super unique and is like taking a trip back to the 1950's! You'll find turquoise powder coated steel St. Charles cabinets, a Chambers range, and a General Electric refrigerator with lazy susan shelves! There is an additional refrigerator located in the basement if you need more room. Don't worry - the modern conveniences such as a dishwasher and microwave have been incorporated. The back side of the kitchen island contains school lockers from the 1920's. Inside you'll find plenty of games and puzzles in case of a rainy day. The living room contains 2 old swivel rockers and a large L-shaped couch, There is also a dining area with room for 6 in addition to the 4 seats at the kitchen island. From there, you can walk through the slider onto the covered porch overlooking the lake. This is one of our favorite spots - especially on peaceful mornings, Moving back inside, there are 2 bedrooms right on the main level, one of which overlooks the lake. Just outside the bedroom is a full bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is also a washer/dryer conveniently located next to the bedrooms/bathroom on the main level. Moving up to the curved loft, you'll find refinished flooring from the original camp, a comfortable sitting area, and the 3rd bedroom. Downstairs in the finished basement you'll find an additional bathroom as well as a game room area. Behind all of the old/salvaged/restored/quirky item, we have worked hard to provide all the creature comforts of modern living. The real slate floors have radiant heat to warm your feet in the winter. We have 3 large window A/C units for when the breeze off the lake just isn't enough. We have WIFI throughout the home as well as 2 televisions. We have provided comfortable mattresses/furniture and high quality sheets/pillows/towels.
Well, if you made it this far, thanks for reading this! We have tried our hardest to creat a fun and comfortable space while still paying our respects to the original camp. Truth be told, we miss the old place a lot. But sometimes the smartest decisions do not come easy. Please consider booking with us!
