About this property
'Decked Out' Downeast, Versatile oceanfront accommodates small and large groups
Decked Out Down East
Located in the coastal Maine fishing village of Pigeon Hill, Decked Out Down East overlooks a cobble beach and protected bay with views of the open ocean, islands, and a lighthouse in the distance. While relaxing on one of the two large decks, you can watch lobster men pull their traps and eagles and ospreys fish the incoming tide. The ever-changing views of water, wildlife, and sky will captivate you. This is the perfect place for a quiet, intimate vacation with family or friends. Nature feels close at hand. Located at the gateway to the Bold Coast, hiking, biking, boating, and outdoor experiences abound.
Decked Out is a self-catering house divided into two apartments or flats if you will; one upstairs and one downstairs. Families or groups of friends can spend time together and share a vacation experience but also have the option of private space. Alternatively, we will rent just one unit at a time to smaller groups of 2 or 4. Four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, two complete kitchens, two separate living rooms, and two wrap-around decks give vacationers ample space and amenities to relax. The interior is bright and clean. Both living rooms have gas fireplaces for warmth and ambiance. The main living area in the upper unit has an open floor plan and is designed to take full advantage of the ocean view. French doors open to the second floor deck. Whether you are enjoying a casual breakfast at the kitchen counter or sipping a drink on the deck outside, you will find yourself drawn to the dynamic patterns of color and texture in the bay.
Sleeping accommodations include two bedrooms with queen beds and two bedrooms with twin beds. The master bedroom has a private bathroom with a shower. Other amenities include generous closet space, two-zone gas heat, two dishwashers, microwaves, internet access, and central vacuuming. The utility room has a washer and dryer and ample space for storing wet clothing and outdoor gear. The level back yard provides room for outdoor games as well.
Decked Out is located in Down East Maine where the beautiful coastline remains uncrowded and unspoiled. One can explore little fishing villages, rocky beaches, and spectacular cliffs along the Bold Coast. Nearby, the Schoodic Peninsula portion of Acadia National Park offers spectacular views of the Maine Coast with crashing surf, lobster boats, and soaring sea birds. Driving or bicycling the 20-mile, one-way paved loop road allows one to breathe in the fresh, salty Maine air. A passenger ferry from Winter Harbor takes tourists over to the shopping and eating experience of the fabled Bar Harbor with its many varied attractions.
Closer to home you can launch a canoe or a kayak right out front. The gravel and cobble beach is firm allowing access to the water at virtually all tide levels. There is also a paved boat ramp a quarter mile down the road. Explore the many walking trails available throughout the nearby Petit Manan Wildlife Refuge. Three short scenic hikes are available within one mile of Decked Out with many others throughout the region.
And of course lobsters and seafood are available at several local establishments. No visit is complete without enjoying fresh lobster rolls and haddock burgers.

About the host
Hosted by David and Noelle
We have been exploring and enjoying Petit Manan Peninsula in all seasons for nearly sixty years. We got married at the small stone chapel, All Souls by the Sea, “out the point” not far from the house. In 2013, we finally purchased our dream home and we are excited to be able to share it with you. We think you will be charmed by this unique corner of Maine.
Why they chose this property
The commanding water views and proximity to a variety of nature activities make this house the perfect get-away for one or more families to enjoy a relaxing Downeast Maine experience.
What makes this property unique
Two distinct living areas for families or groups of friends vacationing together provide enough space for communal activities as well as separate kitchens and sleeping spaces, if needed. Can also accommodate special interest group retreats (e.g. yoga, writers, artists, photographers, etc.)
