About this property
Ocean-view meadow home with fireplace near Shell Beach
Summary:
Open the curtains to the Pacific -- this Sea Ranch home offers a distant ocean view. A warm fire anchors cozy evenings in. Step outside to the deck. Room for 4 in this 2-bedroom home. Near Shell Beach tidepools. The Sonoma Coast's best-kept secret is waiting for you. On still nights the stars are overwhelming -- no city light for miles in any direction. Clear autumn nights here deliver some of the best stargazing on the California coast.
The Space:
Located between Shell Beach and Stengel Beach on the west side of Highway 1, this lovely Sea Ranch getaway offers classic Sea Ranch architecture with cedar walls and an open floorplan. You'll be near the Bluff Trail at this meadow home. The Sea Ranch Lodge is about five miles south, and the green of the Sea Ranch Golf Links is a four-mile drive north. Head to Annapolis Winery (11 miles southeast) for wine tasting or plan a whole day trip and drive north to Fort Bragg to walk on the Glass Beach (64 miles) and then a late lunch in Mendocino.
Walk inside to a two-story living room. The artwork throughout the house is framed photographs of nature on the Sea Ranch, giving an authentic and organic feeling within the home. There's a sunken inglenook with a stone fireplace and a sheltered deck with a built-in table and benches for outdoor dining. Even when it is very windy outside, the sheltered deck offers warmth and remarkable calm from any wind. It is its own microclimate.
When it's mealtime, the kitchen is well-equipped with all major appliances, including a couple of different coffeemakers (with an espresso maker and grinder) and other gadgets like a blender and toaster. Just pick up some groceries at the nearby Surf Market in Gualala and fix up a feast!
This ocean meadow can showcases bedrooms which are equivalent main bedrooms - the main level bedroom with window seat and ocean views opens onto the expansive deck. The upper-level bedroom features a cedar cathedral ceiling, a corner desk, and breathtaking white water downcoast view. Both bedrooms have full baths. The loft is an open concept that includes a queen mattress on a raised platform and overlooks the main level. There is also a desk, flatscreen/Apple TV, and it is just down the hall from the upper main bedroom. The duvet comforters are new, very high quality down duvets as are the new down pillows. Except for the kitchen and loft with meadow views, the principal rooms and large deck all have superb ocean views.
The spacious attached garage features new industrial lighting and a long built-in wood plank table, ideal for work projects. In addition, several comfortable chairs and two market umbrellas can be found by the back door of the garage, next to the outdoor deck. Home features high-speed 1 Gbps Fiber Optic home network. The house works very well for a single guest, as a romantic getaway for a couple or two couples as the home offers equivalent bedroom suites, each on a separate level.
Guests can enjoy additional conveniences like an electric car charging station. Sea Ranch also offers three rec centers with pools, tennis, saunas, and miles and miles of walking/biking trails. Stroll along the Monarch Glen Interpretive Trail or wander down to Shell Beach to enjoy the perfect sunset.
Guest Access:
Step inside and settle in -- every room and amenity in this home is yours for your stay. Parking is available in the garage. Detailed check-in instructions, including the door code, will be provided prior to your arrival. As a guest, you also have access to Sea Ranch community amenities including the pools, tennis courts, fitness center, and miles of trails. A recreation pass will be provided.

Lovely, Cozy Home
The size is absolutely perfect for our family of three - we loved all the special nooks and crannies, different sitting areas were each unique and my son tested them all! The meadow view is outstanding and you don't feel like anyone is looking in on you in the home, everyone's view seems very well positioned!

A real getaway.
House was a little dated, but comfortable and thoughtfully supplied. Main thing was the sound and sight of the ocean and the walks on the bluffs above.

Gracious home in a serene setting
We really loved this home. Parts of it are a little worn (like the couch), but the layout and the views are extraordinary. I especially loved the kitchen - the counter tile, the cutting boards, all the supplies. Would definitely stay here again!

Great Location
The home is cozy and well located near the ocean and a beautiful cove within a few minutes stroll. The home would benefit greatly from an updated kitchen, kitchen utensils/accoutrements and bathrooms.

Fantastic house
A wonderful house in a great location. The house is very well appointed and the kitchen is very well equipped. Fast fiber optic internet is the icing on the cake. Highly recommend. Would absolutely stay again.
We really enjoyed our trip! What a beautiful setting. The accommodations were great. The house was cozy and had everything we needed. We watched deer padding through the foliage at dusk, which speaks to how peaceful the place is. It was near everything, beaches, hikes, groceries, swimming. Can't wait for a return visit!
The house is very comfortable, well-equipped and is set in a lovely location with gorgeous ocean views. The proximity to trails was perfect! The private deck is large and great for evening sunsets and the wildlife is amazing; deer, fox, bunnies (bear paw prints on our car one morning - don't keep food in your car!). Overall. We would return to this serene location.
We loved our stay at the Glass House. We could hear the ocean and enjoy the view. The built-ins and mid century furniture added to the magic of our stay. The only small issue: Pots and pans could be replaced, they very old.
Looking forward to returning.

Lovely home.
Very comfortable, with many cozy nooks to hang out in for reading, chatting, or having a cocktail and watching the wildlife amble by. Amenities were just right. We weren't lacking for anything, though it would have been great if the tennis courts had been open. The views along the hiking trails were stunning. I look forward to staying at the Glass House again!

Could have stayed forever
The house was cozy yet spacious with nice decor. Waking up to the panoramic ocean view stretched out before us was by far the best part. The distant sound of the hum of the ocean adding to the appeal. We saw deer grazing in the meadow on our first night. A very peaceful and beautiful house and location. We hope to visit again!

Relaxing moments
The house is very comfortable downstairs, but could use some TLC with wood work and better toilets & seats. With that said, the history of this house is intoxicating and highly recommend.

We appreciate the guests feedback. Unfortunately, most homes in Sea Ranch have water stains on the wood around the windows and ceilings as for many years Sea Ranch did not allow home owners to install gutters. The toilet seat has since been replaced. The home owner built this home with her husband in the 70's and loves the old Sea Ranch style that their home has.

Incredible vacation home
Quiet, with sweeping views of meadow and ocean. Great location within the communithy too. Less than 5 minutes to town, 5-7 minutes to the lodge. Centrally located. Stocked house..my friends love coffee (I am tea and found a holder to make a cup with my loose tea leaves!) and there is an entire cabinet dedicated to coffee making equipment. xxx Thi sis a 10 star out of 5.
