Just perfect!

We were a group of dads and teen sons and got very lucky with a quick click to get this fabulous Tahoe home. It was everything we needed plus more. Extremely well appointed, comfortable beds, nice size and an incredible jacuzzi that worked perfectly-- amazing! Can't forget to mention the awesome location... right up from Wolfdale's, our favorite Tahoe City restaurant! Thanks for the great stay!

Right in the center of Tahoe City

They house is clean and well stocked. It’s super easy to walk just about anywhere in Tahoe City. This was a must on 4th of July weekend. The upstairs does tend to get pretty hot by the evening. Though there are planets of fans and we were able to cool it down quickly. I would stay here again.

Ski holiday with family

We absolutely loved staying at Mike’s place. We loved being so close to town and especially the Safeway. The property is very well stocked so it was easy to cook every night after a long day of skiing. We had absolutely no issues with noise possibly as it was in the wintertime. But even in the Summer I can see it being fun to be able to walk to all the restaurants ands shops nearby. The place suited our family very well. Any little questions or issues we had were very quickly addressed by Mike. We will definitely stay at Mike’s place again.

Great House Perfect Location

What a great house just a few minute walk to downtown Tahoe City. We stayed for 4 nights with our 3 kids. The 3 bedrooms were large with enough beds to accommodate another family of 4. The house has all the accommodations needed and the kids absolutely loved playing the original Nintendo video games and watching a few old VHS movies from the large collection. House was warm and roomy. The owner was very communicative and was accommodating with our pets. Would highly recommend the house for a family or two with kids. Lots of restaurants within walking distance and an easy owner to work with.

Great family stay in Tahoe City

We had a fantastic time at Michael and Lyn's cosy cabin the heart of Tahoe City. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed to cook and hot tub (hooray for extra towels!) and get cozy after skiing. When weather threatened our drive up, Michael was so helpful in letting us add an extra night. He was also very responsive with any hiccups at the cabin. We definitely needed the space heaters in the upstair bedrooms, but the rest of the house was cozy and warm. Do note that the cabin is right up against neighbors' houses and a school across the backyard, which was fine for us. We didn't take advantage of the proximity to town too much, but it's an effortless stroll to the main drag in Tahoe City. We would happily stay again!

The best Tahoe weekend we could have asked for!

Due to a massive storm that literally closed down Tahoe I thought we were not going to be able to come up. But the owners were so very kind and accommodating as to let us come up the following weekend. The house is the snuggly Tahoe cabin one hopes for! The kitchen and bathrooms have all been beautifully updated but the the vibe of the house is classic Tahoe charm. The property was super clean with all the amenities you could need. Clean comfy beds, fluffly towels and plenty of them and the hot tub was perfect for an end of the day rest. One of our favorite nights was watching old VHS movies on their VCR, it was so charming and nostalgic! The owners were extremely attentive and responded to any of our questions without haste. I cannot wait to come back next year for another wonderful visit!

Sweet Vacation Home

Loved the floor plan of the house! It worked well for cooking, 7 people sitting at table, lounging, and sleeping. The gated fence was perfect for the pets. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and kitchenware supplies. The gas stovetop was fun to cool on and easy to clean. The bathrooms were very nice! I loved the upgrades to shower head and aesthetics. A fan in downstairs bathroom would be an added benefit, but we opened the window. Appliances worked great! Laundry and dishwasher detergent provided. Hot tub was a bonus and so nice! Overall, it was a sweet and special experience and we are grateful for you opening your home to us!

Perfect stay!

Our family of 4 adults stayed here for 4 nights. The home is charming, even better than the photos make it appear. It now has a grey exterior and updated bedding. The bathrooms are modern, with great showers, and the beds are very comfortable, with a terrific foam mattress pad in the main floor bedroom. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfasts. The location is great. It is very quiet for sleeping, but just a couple blocks from the water and the main street, and an easy walk to many great restaurants, the grocery store and the beach. I believe there is no A/C, but it was never missed, as Tahoe City cools down every evening, even when the temperatures were in the 80s during the day. The host is very kind and communicative, providing us with hiking and restaurant suggestions, and was so helpful when my husband left an item behind in getting it back to us. The hot tub at the end of the day hiking was a real plus. We are so glad we chose this home in Tahoe City, one of the nicest towns in the Lake Tahoe area.

Comfortable Stay in Tahoe City

Extremely comfortable, clean and very well stocked. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. In addition, the washer & dryer were convenient. The cabin was well decorated and the updated bathrooms looked and functioned well. The fenced backyard is nicely landscaped making it enjoyable for us and our Pup! Plenty of parking and an easy walk down to the beach, restaurants, etc. All and all great stay, we would stay again.

Great location for walking to town & the Lake. My teens loved the spa, and I loved the garden in the mornings for peaceful coffee time. Beautiful kitchen & bathrooms, super comfortable beds and soft towels. Loved the washer and dryer availability. We were in Tahoe in the Summer and with the windows open it was breezy and comfortable. Central Place for Tahoe City Access

We (4 adults, 3 kids (6,8,8) and dogs) very much enjoyed our stay at this house in Tahoe City. The backyard was excellent for the dogs to get energy out while in a fenced in area off leash. We did supervise them most of the time though since the fence on two sides did not seem very sturdy. There weren't any issues during our stay. Parking was very easy. Would be nice if they had an outdoor accessible plug for our electric car. It wasn't a huge deal since there was a public one within walking distance (about a mile) that we were able to use. The photos aren't up to date for the upstairs bunk room. There is only one bunk bed, which was a disappointment for the twins as we had to schedule who slept in the coveted "top bunk". Plenty of beds otherwise. The Queen upstairs was very comfortable. All linens were of good quality and seemed newer. We loved walking to town for ice cream in the middle of the day. We tried 3 different places and thought that the Little Truckee Ice Creamery Truck was our favorite. Walking to town was a favorite activity it was nice to not have to drive. The kitchen was well equipped and we were able to make all of the breakfast's and dinner's during our stay. Overall, can't wait to come back. We will definitely look to stay here again! Thank you for the excellent accommodations for our first trip to Tahoe City!

Tahoe city prime location

A lovely house with plenty of sleeping options. We came up with 6 people (3 children, 3 adults). We got to sit in the hot tub while it snowed and watch the fireworks for the winter festival. We walked to dinner and breakfast most days.

Great experience!

This was my first time doing a VRBO/Non-trad hotel experience and it was a very nice experience. We were a little nervous about staying in someone else's house but it felt like home, and I felt comfortable very readily after walking in the door. There was ample parking (4 spots right in front of the cabin) and ample bedrooms (3, with multiple beds in 2 of them). The kitchen was well-stocked with pots/pans and utensils, say my friends who cooked us dinner. The hot tub was big enough for 6 of us, and clean, so that was very pleasant. Two bathrooms were recently remodeled and were nice - it didn't take forever for hot water, and the shower was enjoyable. There isn't shampoo/conditioner (ok with us), but there is hand and bar soap. The beds and furniture are getting on in years, but that's fine with me - everything was clean and in good repair. The cabin is also super close to the stores and restaurants, but not *too* close - it was about 2 blocks away, a quick walk. There was a drip coffeemaker that we put to good use, as well as a nice toaster, dishwasher, wonderful fireplace. In all, my friends and I had a great ski weekend here, and we have only good things to say about this cabin.

Great house & location

This property was even better than advertised and we all had a wonderful time. It is spacious, was very clean, has two great bathrooms and a wonderful master suite. We used the lockbox the entire time we were there and loved using the hot tub. Great location as easy walk to town and the flat parking was really appreciated given the amount of snowfall. Would strongly recommend.

Cozy cabin

Overall, this place was nice for our family of 4 to stay over Thanksgiving week. The location is great for walking to the lake or into town to eat or shop in cute downtown Tahoe City. The cabin is pretty well appointed with things to cook meals and host quite a few people if you needed to. The kitchen has been recently remodeled but the rest of the cabin is pretty worn. Lots of stained mismatched rugs and the carpet has seen better days. However, the linens and hot tub were nice and new and overall was a good stay.

Great cottage!

This was a lovely cottage very close to Tahoe City. We loved being able to meander into town and that the teens could go on their own. The fenced yard was great for our small pups (though one of our escape artists did sneak out the fence). The house was well equipped with all needed supplies as well as much to entertain us including the bumper pool table, jacuzzi and a plethora of movie options (including fun old VHS tapes!). The owner was responsive when we had small problems and questions and addressed the issues right away. I would definitely stay here again!

About the host

Hosted by Michael Smith

Host profile image
My family and I live in Los Altos, California. My wife, of 25 years, and I have 3 children and we love the Tahoe City area. I am a Bay area native having been born in San Francisco and raised near Half Moon Bay. We have been enjoying the Lake Tahoe region for over 30 years. Our goal is to raise our children with the same excitement and appreciation that we had for Lake Tahoe.

Why they chose this property

We simply love Tahoe, the people, the year-round activities and how it makes us feel when we are there. Having grown up going to my father's place in Tavern Shores in Tahoe City, we could not even think of choosing a better place to share our joy of Tahoe with our children. When he sold his place in the summer of 2004, it left a void in our summer and winter trips to Tahoe. When we came across our home on Pioneer Way, with its close proximity to town, the lake, the golf course, the skiing, we felt we had found our ideal home away from home.

What makes this property unique

Literally, you are a block from town and the lake. Guests who stay at our home report simply parking their car the day they arrive and never needing to use it again. The interior is furnished comfortably and with some of finest linens. The new (11/2019) gas fireplace is ideal in both Winter and Summer to help heat up the house. The hot tub on the back porch has found us in it for hours during the winter and summer months. The views from it are of the city, the lake and the mountains around the cabin. Finally, the back yard is enclosed, landscaped and grassed. Perfect for sun-bathing, sprinklers for the kids, or a mean badminton game. Enjoy!
