Beachfront Solar Villa · Private Pool · Rooftop Bar · Paddle Out to Backwash
Wake up to the sunrise over the Golfo Dulce, watch scarlet macaws fly past your window, and paddle out to the Backwash surf break straight from the garden. Ocean View Surf Villa is a 3-story, fully off-grid beachfront home in Cabo Matapalo, on the tip of the Osa Peninsula, the place National Geographic called the most biologically intense on Earth.
THE HOUSE (sleeps 11, 3 bedrooms, 3 en-suite bathrooms) Ground floor: open-plan kitchen, dining and living area that flows onto the patio and your private plunge pool, plus one bedroom with en-suite bath. Second floor: two identical master suites, each with a private bathroom and the same near-180° ocean view. Rooftop terrace: BBQ grill, a long table for 10, a bar counter, hammocks and a hang-out lounge. This is where you'll have dinner while the moon rises over the water. Every bedroom has a desk or work nook, and the whole house is covered by Starlink Wi-Fi.
OFF-GRID AND ECO BY DESIGN The villa runs 100% on solar power with spring water and recycling. Ceiling and standing fans keep every bedroom, the living room, dining area and terrace cool (there is no air conditioning; the ocean breeze does the work).
WILDLIFE AT THE DOOR Scarlet macaws, howler and spider monkeys, agoutis, coatis, raccoons and hawks visit the large garden daily. During whale season you can spot humpbacks from the house.
SURF AND BEACHES Backwash (intermediate): paddle out from the beach in front of the house. Pan Dulce: 10-minute walk. Matapalo: 15 minutes. The beach in front of the villa appears at low tide; surfboard rental can be arranged.
GETTING HERE AND AROUND About 45 minutes from Puerto Jiménez town and its airstrip. Several restaurants within a 10-minute drive; the nearest supermarket is in Puerto Jiménez, so we recommend stocking up before you arrive. Corcovado National Park (Carate entrance) is 1.5 hours away. A 4x4 is strongly recommended.
HOSTED BY OSA CONCIERGE I've managed hotels for 15+ years and lived on the Osa for 7. Our local team can arrange private chefs, mid-stay cleaning, transfers, surf lessons and tours (extra cost). Ask us anything, we know this coast well.
GOOD TO KNOW Check-in 3 pm, check-out 11 am. Minimum 2 nights. Children welcome. No pets, no events. Smoking outdoors only. Quiet hours after 10 pm, this is a wildlife area and a peaceful neighborhood.

About the host
Hosted by Fabio Jimenez
I'm Fabio, a hotel manager with more than 15 years in hospitality and 7 years living on the Osa Peninsula. I've run several hotels along this coast, so I know the surf spots, the guides, the chefs and the back roads. Today I manage a small collection of homes here under Osa Concierge, with a local team that's always within reach. What I love most about hosting is seeing guests slow down, connect with this place and feel its magic.
Why they chose this property
Cabo Matapalo is the end of the road, in the best way. The rainforest meets the Golfo Dulce, the sunrise and the moonrise both happen right in front of the house, and you share the garden with scarlet macaws, monkeys and coatis. It's quiet, wild and still uncrowded, with three surf breaks (Backwash, Pan Dulce and Matapalo) within 15 minutes and Corcovado National Park a day trip away.
What makes this property unique
Very few beachfront homes on the Osa let you paddle out to a surf break from the garden, run fully on solar power with spring water, and still sleep 11 with three en-suite bathrooms and a rooftop bar with a table for 10. Every floor has the ocean view. And you have a hotel manager as your host, so anything you'd expect at a resort (private chef, transfers, surf lessons, tours) is a message away.
