I have stayed at this property before under previous ownership, so I was familiar with it and knew my way around. My main reason for choosing it this time was proximity to high school reunion activities and knowing it would likely be comfortable and quiet, which it was. I love the area and the historic setting as well as the semi-remote nature of the location. I also tend to always bring things with me like flashlights and reading lights as well as beverages. So I felt self-contained and comfortable, The pool was very clean and refreshing (even in October). The views are spectacular. There were some surprises. As someone who grew up here, a dead scorpion in the bathroom, for example, was not that unusual, but I wondered how long it had been there. A damaged outer window of a double paned door was unsightly (and every time I closed the main door, more glass pieces would fall, but was not dangerous. The shower water was hot, the bathroom was decently appointed and I could see the improvements that have been implemented. I look forward to returning on future trips.
