Designer Family Cabin Mins to Dollywood: Kids Retreat + Game Loft + Hot Tub
THE WILD HUCKLEBERRY
The Wild Huckleberry is currently being thoughtfully reimagined into a warm, design-forward Smoky Mountain cabin created for families. The photos you see today show the home’s existing architecture and layout while the remodel is underway; the finished interiors, furnishings and custom kids spaces described below will be complete before our first Wild Huckleberry guests arrive.
Close enough to hear the Dollywood train whistle, yet tucked into a peaceful wooded setting, The Wild Huckleberry sleeps 8 across three bedrooms and was created to feel less like a themed vacation rental and more like the family mountain house you wish you had.
Spend the day at Dollywood, explore Pigeon Forge or head into the Great Smoky Mountains, then come home for hot-tub soaks, fireside evenings, arcade competitions, slow breakfasts and time together.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE THE WILD HUCKLEBERRY
★ So close to Dollywood you can hear the train whistle from the cabin ★ Sleeps 8 in 3 bedrooms - king, queen + 4 twin sleeping spaces ★ Built-in kids room sleeping four with 3 twin beds + twin trundle ★ Separate game loft with arcade, foosball, art space + reading nook ★ Private hot tub in a peaceful, secluded wooded setting ★ Stone fireplace + soaring great room with cathedral ceiling and wall of windows ★ Warm, professionally designed interiors with natural wood, layered textiles and collected mountain character ★ Full kitchen + cozy breakfast nook ★ 2 full bathrooms ★ Large deck, washer + dryer and paved driveway ★ Easy access to Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, Gatlinburg and the Smokies
CLOSE TO THE FUN. TUCKED INTO THE WOODS.
One of the best things about The Wild Huckleberry is its location.
We’re close enough to Dollywood that you’ll hear the unmistakable whistle of the Dollywood Express from the cabin.
That kind of convenience matters with kids. Head out for rides in the morning, come home for lunch, naps or a little downtime, then head back out if everyone still has energy.
And when you’re home, you’re not looking out at the Parkway.
The cabin sits in a wooded setting that feels peaceful and tucked away while keeping you remarkably close to the attractions.
Close to the fun. Quiet enough to exhale.
A KIDS ROOM MADE FOR THEM
One of our favorite parts of The Wild Huckleberry is the kids room.
We didn’t want it to feel like a room where we simply squeezed in as many beds as possible. We wanted the kids to have a space that felt like it belonged to them.
The Huckleberry Kids Room sleeps four with:
3 built-in twin beds + 1 pull-out twin trundle
The room will include reading lights, book ledges, cozy bedding and playful details designed to make each sleeping space feel like its own little hideaway. With a TV all their own, movie nights take on a whole new life.
Think cousins whispering after bedtime, siblings choosing “their” bed the moment they arrive, and the kind of mountain sleepover that becomes part of the trip itself.
AND THEY GET THEIR OWN LOFT
The kids room isn’t the game room. They get both.
Upstairs, the loft gives them another place to hang out with:
- Multi-game arcade - Foosball - Kids art space - Reading nook - Room to play and lounge
They can game, draw, read or play foosball while the grown-ups enjoy the quieter spaces downstairs.
Everyone gets to be together. Everyone also gets somewhere to go.
A MOUNTAIN CABIN THE GROWN-UPS LOVE, TOO
The heart of The Wild Huckleberry is the great room.
A stone fireplace anchors the space beneath a cathedral ceiling, while a wall of windows brings natural light into the cabin.
The remodel brings in natural pine, creamy neutrals, rich greens, vintage-inspired textiles and collected details designed to feel like a true mountain home rather than a themed rental.
Curl up by the fire after a long day. Settle in for a movie. Bring out the board games.
Or let the kids disappear upstairs while you actually finish your coffee.
KITCHEN + BREAKFAST NOOK + LARGE ISLAND WITH SEATING
The kitchen is being refreshed with family stays in mind, from pancake mornings before Dollywood and trail snacks to easy dinners at home.
Just beyond it, the breakfast nook is one of those little spaces we hope becomes part of the memory of staying here: morning coffee, cereal with sleepy kids, card games after dinner and slow mornings when no one needs to rush.
No one needs to sleep in the living room. That’s intentional.
TWO FULL BATHROOMS
The cabin has two full bathrooms. We’re keeping their existing layouts and giving both thoughtful cosmetic updates with refreshed lighting, mirrors, trim and styling.
Comfortable, functional and made to work well for a family stay.
HOT TUB + FIRE PIT + OUTDOOR TIME
After Dollywood, a day in Pigeon Forge or an afternoon exploring the Smokies, come home and sink into the private hot tub surrounded by the wooded setting. Unwind while you roast some s'mores around the campfire together, curled up in blankets in wooden adirondack chairs while you swap stories of the day and build memories.
The large deck gives you space for morning coffee, fresh mountain air and a quieter end to the day.
MADE FOR FAMILIES
The Wild Huckleberry is more than “family friendly.”
We’re designing it around the way families actually travel:
big adventure days, tired kids, easy meals, a little noise, a little quiet, time together and a little room apart.
You’ll find beds made specifically for the kids, a loft where they can play, a place to make art, books to curl up with, games to challenge each other to...and spaces where the adults can relax too.
The Wild Huckleberry is our own family mountain home, and we hope it feels that way when you’re here.
ABOUT THE CURRENT PHOTOS
Because we’re accepting reservations while the transformation is underway, we want to be completely transparent.
The current photography shows the home’s actual architecture, layout and outdoor spaces. Before our first Wild Huckleberry guests arrive, the interiors will be refreshed with new paint, lighting, furnishings, textiles and styling, including the built-in kids room described above.
The bathrooms are receiving cosmetic updates only; their layouts remain unchanged. The existing deck, hot tub and fire pit remain part of the property.
New professional photography will be added as soon as the transformation is complete.
You’re seeing the bones today. You’ll be staying in the finished Wild Huckleberry.
WELCOME TO THE WILD HUCKLEBERRY
Come because Dollywood is practically in your backyard.
Come because the kids are going to race upstairs to choose their beds.
Come because they have an intentional loft waiting for them.
Come because there’s a hot tub and fire pit at the end of a long park day.
Come for the quiet coffee in a rocking chair on the front deck surrounded by nature and birdsong.
And come because you want the place you stay to feel like part of the vacation.
The Wild Huckleberry is a family mountain home made for big Smoky Mountain days, cozy nights in and the kind of memories you’ll want to come back to.

Wonderful stay for our family at Christmas! Everything was decorated for the holiday very nicely. Water pressure and temperatures were great, beds were comfy and we had everything we needed for a week in the Smokies! Thankful to have found something that we could take my mom too as well. She was able to get around and access everything she needed on one level.

This cozy cabin is located just 10 minutes from everything you want to do in Pigeon Forge, including shop for groceries. It's an easy drive to the Parkway that goes to Gatlinburg, too. The cabin has plenty of space. The hot tub was nice and we ended our stay using the fire pit and roasted marshmallows.

About the host
Hosted by Alissa Lawton
I’m an interior designer, floral artist and lifelong lover of beautiful spaces, meaningful gatherings and thoughtful hospitality. The Wild Huckleberry is especially personal to our family because it’s not just a rental, it’s our own mountain home, too.
We created it as a place where families can slow down, reconnect and make the kind of memories that outlast the trip itself. I love designing spaces that feel layered, welcoming and intentional, and I wanted The Wild Huckleberry to feel like a true mountain refuge rather than another themed vacation cabin.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this location because it gives you the best of both worlds.
The cabin is tucked into a peaceful wooded setting, but you’re incredibly close to Dollywood, Pigeon Forge and everything families come to the Smokies to enjoy. In fact, you can hear the Dollywood train whistle from the house - one of those little details that instantly reminds you where you are.
What we love most is being able to spend the day in the middle of the fun and then come back to a quieter, more relaxed setting at the end of it.
What makes this property unique
The Wild Huckleberry was designed to feel just as special for the adults as it does for the kids.
The grown-ups get a warm, design-forward mountain cabin with a stone fireplace, private hot tub, soaring great room and thoughtfully layered interiors. The kids get spaces made specifically for them - a built-in bedroom with four twin sleeping spaces plus their own game loft with arcade, foosball, art space and a reading nook.
We wanted it to feel less like a standard vacation rental and more like the family mountain house you wish you had: beautiful, comfortable, playful and made for time together.
