We enjoyed visiting lots of amazing sites within driving distance from this cabin: downtown Traverse City, Torch lake, Sleeping Bear Dunes and Mackinac Island, but also spent a few days just relaxing, swimming, kayaking and fishing at Lake George with the kids. A great place to visit!

The house is absolutely gorgeous! It is well stocked and maintained, too. The views are the best on the lake, and the kitchen is very large. We will definitely be back.

Thank you Marcie! I’m glad the weather cooperated this year. Hopefully we’ll see you again! Thanks for choosing our cottage for your Up North vacation!
Owner quickly answered all questions and was a pleasure to deal with. Most of my family have demanding jobs and we all were able to completely relax at this beautiful place.
Beautiful setting. Comfortable home and spacious for our 4 person family.
Great owners, loved having the use of the boats and raft. Fishing was fun with plenty of action.
We wished there was a larger bed in the master. Otherwise, great overall stay.

Jon,
We’re glad you enjoyed your stay & that the fish were biting. We’ve been considering putting in a king sized bed in the master BR. But this year we decided the driveway, painting & air conditioning were priorities. Maybe in the future. Thanks for taking such great care of our cottage! We hope you’ll stay with us again!

Nothing can top the location of this family cottage. Lake George is perfect for paddling and swimming, especially with kids, and it's close to Traverse and all Northern MI has to offer. It's so peaceful and quiet, and the cottage has everything you need for a vacation away from it all. Gayle & Allison are wonderful hosts! Thank you for another relaxing stay!

Our second stay at this family cottage. Love the big eat-in kitchen. Enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the lake and around the fire at night. Very comfortable and well supplied. Great home base for traveling around the TC area. Appreciated commuincations from the owner.

This cottage is the perfect slice of heaven. It came stocked with everything you could ever need. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The views alone will keep us coming back for years to come. This was our second time staying here and we will make it a yearly vacation spot. The owners were great with communication and very friendly. We had an amazing stay and can't wait to come back!
We have stayed here before, what I love most is that it’s like our lake. It’s so private and so peaceful. No jet skis, no motor boats, it’s so quiet. I like the pine trees, I like the seclusion, I love the sound of nature. The beds are comfortable, and they have everything you need. Even though we had rain, we had a wonderful time.

This cottage was absolutely perfect! From the minute we walked in the doors we felt as though we had our very own slice of heaven. The house came with everything we needed and more. The view of the lake was breathtaking. We loved using the kayak and pedal boat. The lake was very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back again next year.

Stacy,
We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay & liked the cottage. We really love renting to guests who love this place as much as we do! We hope to see you again!
What a great find this was. Far enough from Traverse City to be away from the traffic and crowds, but the drive is manageable. We debated whether we'd be bored on a no-wake lake, but the peace and quiet was unmatched. All the extra touches were appreciated, and it was nice that it was furnished to feel like using a friend's home rather than a sterile rental. We look forward to returning in the future!

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. You're right, the cottage is in the perfect location, and so quiet compared to the lakes with jet skis and motor boats zooming by. I'm glad you enjoyed the quiet. We're looking forward to having you again!

Fun & Relaxing Vacation
The property is just the right size and has all the amenities to make it a very enjoyable vacation. We loved the gathering around the bonfire and riding the paddle boat. The only item missing was a hand rail from the deck to the back yard. My balance is not what it use to be.

Peaceful stay with beautiful views
We had a delightful family vacation at the Miller cottage. The fishing was great, and we loved the views of the lake from the deck, and the house. The water was a little cool, but easy to get used to. All of the comforts of home were provided. We will definitely be making a return trip!!! Thank you Gayle!!! 😎🌞🐠🌅

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip this summer! Thanks for coming and we'll definitely look forward to having you back.
A perfect place to relax on this quiet little clean lake! We went swimming, paddle boating and canoeing everyday and loved the view of the calm lake from the private deck. The cottage had everything that we could have needed; fully equipped kitchen, grill, sheets, towels, etc. You can drive anywhere you would want to go in the area in 1/2 hour- 1 hour. Well worth a longer drive to come back to this relaxing spot! We hope to come back one day!

This is the third year we have rented this property. My children absolutely love it! And so do I. It is quiet, secluded, exactly what we love. The raft in the water bring so much joy! Close to downtown Traverse City, if that’s what you’re looking for. We prefer to stay on the lake🤗 the owners are easily accessible for any need. It really is great!

We had such a wonderful time!!!
We just loved this cottage...it's so well kept and comfortable. The lake is beautiful and was just the getaway that we needed. It's close enough to Traverse City that its just a short ride to dinner and shopping, but you still feel peaceful and removed from all the hustle and bustle when you sit out enjoying the lake behind the cottage. The cottage was clean and had all the conveniences of home. I will highly recommend this to my friends and family. we hope to go back sometime soon! Thanks for a WONDERFUL time!!
Peaceful Stay in Northern Michigan Close to Day Adventures
This cottage is a real gem: clean, lovely and was the best equipped that I had ever stayed at. The owners were lovely and very patient answering all of our questions. We loved the little peninsula that jutted out from the cottage onto the lake. There was always shade or sun to find from morning to night depending on what you wanted. The trees made it feel very private. George Lake is quiet and a great place for a family to canoe, swim and fish or just relax and read a book or do a puzzle. It is very close to any activity you may want to engage in NW Michigan from visiting the Sleeping Bear Dunes to wineries to Traverse City, but we just relaxed and enjoyed our stay.

It was absolutely wonderful! Even though we had quite a bit of rain, we had a perfect vacation. Truly enjoyed the paddleboat, canoe, and raft. I loved how quiet the lake was. The beds were very comfortable and so is the bedding. I did bring my pillow because I always do. There is no clothes dryer and I did find extra clothes pins in the closet by the kitchen, but not until the last day. If it wasn’t for the rain the towels would have dried more easily. All in all we had an amazing time! We have already booked for next year, did not want to lose this place.

Michelle,
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, despite the weather! I always feel bad when the weather doesn't cooperate because the cottage is such a fabulous place in the sunshine. Next year the weather will be GREAT!! (That's positive thinking!). Thanks again and we'll see you next year.

About the host
Hosted by Gayle Miller
Our parents purchased the cottage in the mid seventies when we were children and living in Traverse City. Our family moved to Alma in 1976 and the cottage remained a family get-away. After our parents retired, they spent every summer living at the cottage. They remodeled the kitchen and added a nice master bedroom. The house is filled with comfortable furniture and family history. Three generations of our family have loved the cottage and we're delighted to be able to share it with our summer guests.
Why they chose this property
The cottage on Lake George Trail is a lovely haven away from the bustle of Traverse City. You are just 15 minutes from all of the exciting things that the Grand Traverse Region has to offer. After a day of sightseeing, climbing the sand dunes, shopping or participating in the exciting events of local festivals, you can come home to a quiet and peaceful retreat. But you might also get so relaxed napping on the deck or lying on the raft that you never to go into town!
What makes this property unique
Once you arrive at the cottage, you'll immediately head for the lake, and within a few minutes you'll realize what a special place the cottage is.
