We truly enjoyed our time at the cabin! Owners had a bottle of champagne and sweet anniversary card for us. Great property and especially loved both fireplaces when it got cold. Thanks again.
Great little cabin far enough from downtown Julian but close enough to get to with a short drive. Very quiet and loved that it was pet friendly. We loved lounging on the deck watching the wild turkeys wander about the neighborhood. Lots of windows for ample sunshine and watch the snowfall. The host was very accommodating and kept me updated on the inclement weather. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and hope to make it back up there for a future stay.
A nice sized yard along with a nice front decking expands the living space of this property well. A entire notebook chalk filled with lots of good ideas of local attractions, restaurants, and places for hiking make this a very welcoming place.
We had a great stay here. It's a great open layout, most of the accoutrements you'd expect, a great yard for dogs, and a very effective gas fireplace if it gets chilly. It's very close to downtown Julian (5 minute drive) with tons to do (many dog friendly businesses, too). Ran into a couple snags and the host was quick to reply and work things out. Also, there's this great notebook on the coffee table that is extremely informative of the town and what you can do there. Highly recommended.
The cabin was older but cozy. We enjoyed the rustic vibe! Matthew is a very responsive and accommodating host. Fast replies and I never was left hanging when I needed anything. Easy and smooth booking and check in/out. Great trip! Thanks!
We had our second stay at the cabin and everything was absolutely lovely. We will definitely be returning. The cabin is clean and very cozy. Great communication and fantastic accomodations.
This was our second stay at Pheasant Hill and can't wait to return. The space is exactly as pictured...it is studio style, but that works just fine for our family. There is plenty of space for my small children to play and for our dog to run around our back. Kitchen is stocked with basic tools and we were able to prep our meals easily (simple low prep).
Very quiet neighborhood, enjoyed coffee on the patio and star gazing at night.
We love all the windows to let us enjoy the views of the beautiful trees while inside.
Thanks again!!
Fun getaway in the woods; especially if you have a dog
We have a small pooch and we like to be able to bring her along when we take vacations. This is a great place for such a getaway. We really enjoyed getting out on the deck in the evening for some star watching. Lots of windows to open up to allow cool breezes to flow through and to listen to the rustling of the tree.
This property exceeded my expectations! It was one of the few places that allowed us to bring our four dogs and it was perfect for them! The cabin is large and equipped with everything a guest would need. The host got back with me right away and was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks, Matthew!
Lovely neighborhood walks were sprinkled with birdwatching, goats, turkeys, chickens, and loveable mountain dogs. We were entertained each day with Steller’s Jays gathering branches for their nests right outside the living room window.
Both evenings were spent viewing the spectacular night sky from the deck.
Perfect location, a short drive to town and the several trails which we hiked each day.
We look forward to returning.
The cabin and fireplace were clean and cozy. The location was convenient to town; we've stayed in the same neighborhood. Although the cabin is in a neighborhood, it feels very private and country-like.
The blustery conditions that weekend would have been perfect weather for curling up with a book by the fireplace. Unfortunately, the usually high winds (50 MPH) in the area, scared our rescue dog. We elected to leave before the end of our trip. We would recommend and book this cabin again.
Great place to stay- description is accurate and it was a great place for my dog:)
One thing that was not good is the shower- it’s really old and kind of yucky. The bathroom sink is super old too, but the shower is pretty bad.
Otherwise, great place!
They had the cabin all set up for check in. Fireplace on, tv and lights! Owner was super nice and responsive. Backyard was great and secure! Just a few minor things need attention: kitchen items (utensils, pots, pans need to be replaced). Driveway is a bit tight, but cutting the trees back would help. I would definitely stay here again, but bring my own kitchen items! I recognize owners don’t use them regularly, so I hope this feedback is helpful.
Me and my party stayed for 4 days and it was amazing! The location is perfect, not too far away from the Main Street of Julian. Cabin was clean, FULL KITCHEN PROVIDED, both couches are pull outs and are pretty comfortable plenty of blankets, pillows, and towels also provided !! I will be definitely staying here again :)

About the host

We're a local San Diego couple and live between Julian and San Diego - this is our weekend/vacation home. So we use the cabin as well and just love being up in the mountains in the quiet woods!
Why they chose this property
It's quiet and peaceful without being isolated - it's a short trip into town so you can grab food, drink and PIE and be back home quickly. You can also walk.
What makes this property unique
The cabin was built in 1965 and still maintains some of the original fittings. The inside is all knotty pine and very open!
