A hearty “Moin” and “Welcome” to our renovated holiday farm—nestled in an idyllic orchard in the quaint village of Upleward. Upleward is located between Emden and Greetsiel and is characterised by various very well-preserved historic buildings that give this East Frisian circular village its own unique charm.
Our apartments in the front building of the holiday farm feature high ceilings with original exposed beams throughout. The historic block-frame windows and shutters were handcrafted to match the original and complete the look of this historic Gulfhof. The former barn wing houses bright and spacious apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows. All holiday apartments are individually designed, modern, and furnished with great attention to detail, offering a relaxing view from the terrace of the green spaces with their mature trees.
Built in 1851, the Gulfhof BOOMGAARDEN had stood uninhabited for 40 years and was already showing signs of weathering. Thanks to the initiative of East Frisian historic preservation enthusiasts, the building was extensively renovated and converted into a charming holiday farmstead. The preservation of the original structure and the retention of its distinctive details give all the apartments a unique character.
An integral part of the farm is an exceptional collection of apple, pear, plum, and mirabelle trees, and a communal fire pit enhances the recreational value year-round.
Our holiday farm is the ideal starting point for a wide range of activities: hiking, biking, or kayaking in the Krummhörn region; water sports in the Wadden Sea; cultural excursions to popular nearby towns such as Greetsiel, Pilsum, and Emden; or even day trips to the East Frisian Islands. The dike and dry beach in the immediate vicinity also invite you to linger.

Welcome to the former living quarters of the Gulfhof Boomgaarden—the “parlour,” so to speak. Where people used to warm up in front of the fireplace after a hard day’s work, you can now treat yourselves to some time together.
Your hosts have furnished the apartment with great attention to detail, creating a modern and cosy atmosphere. High ceilings, thick beams, and beautiful solid-wood floorboards create a very special old-world charm. The large lattice windows offer a view of the garden. Here you’ll also find the terrace, where you can enjoy tea, coffee, or even a glass of wine in the shade of apple and pear trees.
The apartment is at ground level but accessible via approximately 5 steps, as is the terrace.
The fully equipped kitchen offers everything an amateur chef could wish for—including a dishwasher to take care of the cleanup afterwards.
The apartment features a bedroom with a cosy double bed, where you can choose between two different mattress firmness levels. The comfortable and modern bathroom with natural light leaves nothing to be desired.
For longer stays, a weekly cleaning service is available upon request for an additional fee.

Important Note Regarding the Travel Cot
Please understand that we do not provide mattresses for the travel cots for hygiene reasons.
If needed, please bring a suitable 60x120 cm mattress with you. The lightly padded, foldable, and wipe-clean base is, of course, included.
